What to get for a good gaming PC?

So my mom's fiancee went to me a few weeks ago and asked me:
"Hey do you want one of those top-notch gaming computers for christmas?"
I said yes of course and he said i have to get good grades and he wants it custom.So what are some things that are useful for a computer?
No need to worry about RAM or the monitor and stuff like that,i need to now the best brand names,stuff like that.
Also,some questions.
1.Nividia G force or ATI radeon?
2.Where can i find good transparent PC cases?

Newegg.com is your best friend for finding all the great deals on computer shit.

Also, I like the RAIDMAX SMILODON, it's cool looking and it'll fit a lot inside of it. It can come with either Blue or Green LED light versions, I prefer the blue LED's personally.

Tigerdirect is pretty cool.
You can get a shitton of money saved just because the original box was scratched and shit so the normal places can't sell it.
I can't really tell you much about computers myself, but that site helped me a lot with what I needed to get.
