i meant big in terms of announcements. like the game awards, nintendo direct, playstation/xbox showcase and what used to be E3. pretty sure gamescom is not in the same tier.

It’s been growing in that regarding in the last few years. The line up so far seems on par or better than SGF honestly. (Even though so far there’s nothing in super interested in.)

We always treated Gamescom as big on the News side of the site back when the KH series was having regular updates and releases.

It’s Europe’s largest games show so it did always have a good chance for something there, if not KH then something Square Enix related which we all enjoyed.

It was Paris Games Week that really surprised us when 2.8 decided to get some promotion there.

Anyways, that was almost a decade ago and this year’s show is just a couple of days away so we’ll see.

FFXVI PC port releases 9/17! That’s much sooner than I expected. Further stacking SE’s late summer/fall line up. 2025 remains an empty field with the exception of the DQ remakes.

Putting this trailer out today makes me wonder what if anything they are saving for Gamescom tomorrow.

Finally.

16 is lacking in some aspects as a FF title but I'm glad it's on PC now. So many people deserve to experience this amazing title.

But now that that's out of the way, SqEnix should be more than ready to reveal 'Kingdom Heart VII: The Melancholy of Ansem's Resurrection' tomorrow 🤩

I never expect anything from KH on Gamescom for a long time. TGS is more likely.

Would love to finally have the official announcement of the rumoured Final Fantasy 9 remake, but according to leaks the game may be further than we think and they may not make it to the 25th Anniversary.

For me so far there's nothing interesting for 2025 from Square

I feel like it'd be smart to advertise Missing Link, they do tend to show mobile games at events like this so it just makes sense

Hoping for something

In 20 hours, Geoff's opening night show is on. That should have the most to showcase for games.

I'm not even sure what realistic thing I should be excited for at GC. Indiana Jones coming to PS5 I guess? What even is there?

>Disney game/application seems to be teased and it’s GPS and/or step-based
>Not Missing Link

They’re making a mockery of us.

I suppose there's two ways to interpret this:

1. Disney has enough confidence in Missing Link that they want their own GPS game.

or

2. It's a contingency plan put in place in case ML fails.

At least that's my takeaway. Honestly I don't know what to think anymore 🤷‍♂️

I was thinking the same thing.

A possible 3. would be the that SqEnix mastered developing GPS applications so Disney wanted to give it a go. Also very possible both ML and Disney Step have been in development at the same time.

Another hopeful 4. would be that Missing Link is finished development so Disney were waiting for its completion to reveal their very own GPS game.

“But why would Disney need to wait for Squar—“

Shut up.

The strangest part is that this exists at the same time as Pixel RPG. These two games are essentially Missing Link split into two separate games. One is a world hopping Disney RPG, while the other is a Disney GPS game. Combine the two and add in some FF/anime style storytelling and you get ML. Maybe I'm overthinking this🤔
