I’m telling you. Slowly but surely, Pocahontas will be known as Katzenberg’s Song of the South
See I'm only 25 but Song of the South was a film shown regularly enough on UK television to the point that I remember it well enough. Of course I haven't seen it since I was a child so I'm sure there's valid criticism there, but I really enjoyed the Cartoons crossing over into live action aspect, it felt gentler than other movies that use the same trick.
>The year is 2025

>The Game Awards was delayed to late January and now finally begins

>Geoff Keighley uses a mtn dew powered jetpack and lands on the stage, flooding the room with diet dew code red.

>Doritos rain down from the loft above, signaling the start of the Dewrito Pope's annual celebration.

>Astrobot sweeps the event

>Sony is in shambles

>Josef Fares continues to be a vibe

>Phil Spencer is nowhere to be found

>Geoff returns to the stage, eyes glowing, a cape of dorito dust flows behind him. His ascension almost complete. The crowd is in hysterics, as they know they won't survive what's to come. He begins to speak.

>"Before we end our fun, there's just one more announcement we need to make."

>The lights dim, the crowd's screams grow louder

>The Square Enix logo appears, and Simple & Clean begins to play.

>The screams have melded together into one harmonious chorus as the audience liquifies into a mass of Dewrito and flesh

>KH4 gameplay and Missing Link gameplay flashes on screen and finally cuts to black.

>The video fades back in, revealing Nomura sporting his old look.

View attachment 16576

>"Thank you for your patience. Kingdom Hearts 4 will release late 2025, Missing Link releases once this video ends. But also..."

>Geoff begins to glow and floats into the center of the theater. Josef puts on sunglasses and sets up a folding chair, unaffected by the events around him.

>"...Kingdom Hearts: Versus XIII is now in development."

>Geoff explodes in a beam of light, the theater leaves this plane of existence, those watching the stream hear GACKT music play Nomura off as they all fall unconscious.

>Most on Reddit and BlueSky agree the event was pretty lame overall, the only exciting news being for KH.
"Please be excited"

They have 99 days left to release Missing Link.

Personally, I’m not expecting much this week. Just a KH4 re-reveal at the rumored State of Play on 9/24, followed by a KH 2024 trailer on social channels that announces Missing Link pre-registration and the release date. Then another KH4 world reveal at the Xbox Broadcast Thursday. Also, a Switch 2 reveal with native KH ports as launch titles. And throw in a UX remake in there.

So yeah, keeping expectations low.

Ye of little faith. You're forgetting the Days remake and the MMO, due to release in early 2025.

They have to save SOMETHING for the Game Awards!

Also missing the announcement of KINGDOM HEARTS Verum Rex

Serious question… If Verum Rex does get made, do y’all think it will be a subtitled KH game? Or simply called Verum Rex?

I think it'd be just like how I posted it, similar to RESIDENT EVII BIOHAZARD and VII_I_AGE

If KH4 is written to be a open and closed story, or whatever was said, then letting the 5th game be Kingdom Hearts Verum Rex that then creates an inciting incident for the finale would be exciting. I guess highlighting the I in the E would also work for a sixth game. Let Nomura's final game in a supposed trilogy be the Versus XIII game he always wanted to make.

I don't know how they'd do Verum Rex as a game that Disney is paying for without the Kingdom Hearts name attached to it. I bet that was a struggle they ran into when trying to figure out what to do next.

I don't think Disney would ever publish an entire retail game without any of their film franchises in it, but ReMind showed that they're willing to do something like that in DLC form. ReMind had the Mickey part, yeah, and Fairy Godmother showed up, but as far as a purchasable product published by Disney goes, it's the closest they've ever gotten to it.

I think Verum Rex could be a great Shadow of the Erdtree-sized DLC for KH4. I don't think we need a 30 hour campaign to get the gist of Yozora's origins and inspirations, but an 8-10 hour experience with spectacle, boss fights, and JRPG melodrama out the wazoo built on top of an already polished KH4 combat system would be tops.

For me, I’ve always imagined Verum Rex as being its own thing. Yozora would be the protagonist, no Keyblades, no Heartless, completely set in Unreality, etc. It would literally be the game we see advertised in Toy Box telling Yozora’s story leading up to Re:Mind.

To me, that would be different enough that it wouldn’t feel justified as a numbered KH title. Especially with Sora not being in it except as a superboss the same way Yozora was in 3. It would still feature Disney worlds, but it would be those set in Unreality while KH proper goes back to focusing on the worlds in the main KH reality.

If it is something like this, I think it makes sense to do KH4 first because it will be like a backdoor pilot to see if there’s enough interest for a standalone Verum Rex game. If there’s not that much, they could just do it as a DLC like Launchpad described.

For the Disney issue, I think it would only be an issue if SE wanted to make it their own thing without Disney’s involvement. Since it’s original to KH, I assume they already own the copyright for Verum Rex. With KH potentially coming to an end, they could even see this as a potential new spinoff franchise that wouldn’t carry the barrier to entry that KH currently has. So I think Disney would be on board with it as long as they see it being successful without the KH brand attached.

State of Play confirmed! Over 20 titles. 👀

EDIT: This is basically already debunked as they claim the SoP is 50 minutes and the PS blog says 30+, but still gotta appreciate them for thinking of us KH fans when coming up with it. Lmao

They did get the dates and times right. One could argue the 30+ could still mean longer than that. But I feel like they’d just say 50 minutes if that was the case. Normally they downplay the time a bit, but not by that much. 30 minutes does seem short for over 20 games though. And this list does have 22 games. No VR stuff though.

Showing FFIX, KH4, and DQXII all right before TGS would be kind of insane though. Lol

Oh boy can't wait for there to be nothing worth my time while SE still expects me to think their damn mobile game is still coming out this year despite the fact that they absolutely fucking failed at marketing it after the last beta.

30ish minutes for more than 20 games seems a bit short, so I did some math. The May State of Play was 35 minutes long for 14 games. That’s averages to 2.5 minutes per game. If the trailer times are to be similar this time, it would be around 50 minutes long.

Also, the January State of Play announcement said it was 30+ minutes and ended up closer to 45. So 50 minutes may not be out of the realm of possibility. So the main issue with this leak is the lack of VR2 games listed.

4chan leaks often get things like dates right but then riddle the same leak with lies and misinformation. Popular way to generate hype for no reason.

With that said, I will literally consume my own foot if any KH4 news is shown tomorrow. It's not happening.

Contents of that leak seem too jam-packed and too good to be true.
