So many characters and they couldn't make a SSB clone worth a damn.

I am also still bitter about that.
It's all good in the end because Sony's failure to make Playstation Allstars succeed resulted in Smash Ultimate being a better tribute to Playstation than Sony could ever make... all while still having Mario and Pikachu on the roster

Kingdom Hearts was included in PlayStation’s 30th anniversary celebration video.

Look it’s nice that KH was included, and I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but after this whole last 8 months I’m like… really? That’s all?

Yeah I get that. I admit my second thought after “Aww KH got a nod.” was “Why didn’t it and FF didn’t get any Astro Bot representation?” Lol

Wouldn't it be funny if FF14 Mobile was why ML was delayed, just like how FF14 ARR caused Vs13 and KH3 to be delayed? As if it were some sort of cosmic joke like KH/FF releasing the same weeks as the Resident Evil remakes.

this reminded me that the ports on switch are cloud version, im sad now.
Still mad about that. It makes zero sense that I can run KH2 on a retro console with a rom, but not on the Switch.

By God, that's Derry Girls' music!!!
Wish the KH account would at least do something like this.

I'm really not a fan of their current social media strategy/presence. It seems like they have mo idea how to maintain a consistent profile if games aren't releasing, and when they ARE releasing, recently the posts have been very inwardly facing and geared towards the KH community rather than the general public

Probably nothing, but wanted to point out that SE still hasn’t published their annual report, which was scheduled for October originally. The report usually contains screenshots and launch windows of upcoming titles. So maybe they’re waiting to publish it after more announcements are made?

Interesting that they decided to use a key for his shadow🤔
Also, DANG I forgot how much younger Koki’s Roxas sounded in the original KH2. Hearing him in this game compared to his other games must’ve been like the JP equivalent to us hearing Haley’s deeper Sora voice for the first time.

This wait kinda feels worse than the KH3 wait 😭 At least we were getting trailers here and there at gaming events, even before KH3 finally took shape with the engine switch. Like it didn‘t feel agonizing, but KH4 is just … radio silence. Which I get. But getting 0 news as a fan just sucks when there‘s really nothing else to do. I guess that‘s just the reality of being a video game fanbase but I feel like the fandom just comes to a halt whenever news are extremely slow.

Also, kinda irrelevant but am I the only one who genuinely misses UX?

In hindsight, I feel like we were kind of spoiled with the stuff KH got in the period between KH3’s announcement and its release. Because compared to this outright drought, at least then we got the χ storyline, the HD remasters, and plenty of KH3 teasers before marketing for that game kicked into overdrive in 2018.

This is the longest we've ever gone without KH content.

It's not just 3. Ever since the first game released, we have always had something going on, with a new release of some sort happening every year.

This is just fucking bleak. There was another round of layoffs at SE America a couple of weeks ago, btw. Can't betray confidences, but I have no faith in SE's management right now.

I remember forever ago when Nomura said he wanted there to be some kind of KH release each year. I guess closed betas count now….

Damn, I was worried that would happen. Especially with some of their mobile game operations being outsourced from SENA to other companies. Could be wrong, but I’m getting the vibe that SE JP wants to rely less on SENA for global operations maybe.

* taps the "kh4 was announced too early" sign *

they really shouldn't have done that.

And to me, it isn't even just that, I think one of the main reasons what KH4 has been so silent is because of the engine switch, sort of like what happened to KH3. Sure, switching to UE5 from UE4 isn't as intensive as with KH3, but even then, I've heard that switching to UE5 isn't as simple as just copying and pasting. As we saw in the trailer, KH4 already looked amazing on UE4. In an ideal world, they should have just kept KH4 on UE4, and saved UE5 for KH5. If that had happened, I'd like to think that we would have heard way more on KH4 by now, or maybe even had the game in our hands, especially when you consider that the NIVDIA leak mentioned that KH4's internal date was as early as September 2023, if memory serves. So to me, I think another part of the problem is that Square really shouldn't change engines in the middle of development, as that is always going to set things back a bit. Just look how quickly they are getting the VII Remake games out by comparison. Obviously yes, I do realize sometimes engine changes are out of necessity, but I feel like KH4 didn't really need it.

SNES Bonkers and Goof Troop came to a cloud streaming app before KH4.

Even the FF7R team looked at an engine switch possibility through a lens of "will it help speed up development or not"

While Nomura only referred to the KH4 engine switch in terms of how the game would look graphically the "next time" it's shown.

Looking back on that, and that stupid "incident" comment, it seems these were both just bad moves by Nomura.
