One could argue that it's transformative enough and that the assets are so far removed from whatever the appeal and context is that it doesn't matter. Valve has also never really cared about these kinds of things, seeing as they themselves released SFM to the public, letting fans use their assets and characters to create their own animations.

Its depiction in Fortnite doesn't look like any of the HL2 citizens, anyway.

And it's weird that they'd claim to know if it's a KH trailer or not. I hope they're truly downplaying it by pretending it isn't a KH trailer. I want a KH trailer really bad too. my general understanding of Cynical is that news is his livelihood and that he doesn't do it for the love of the game. therefore anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt. he's not a source of information anyway (but he's very good at stretching second hand info into 8 minute videos)
