Agreed.

I love Kingdom Hearts 2, I love the worlds in the game, I love everything about it. But I also love Kingdom Hearts 3’s massive worlds with all those secrets to find, how wide and vertical the design is, and how varied each level was that I don’t want to go back.

If they ever tried a smaller game, absolutely go for it. I loved 0.2’s world design and those worlds were small and linear but they had puzzles built into them and it felt fun to progress through them.

I do think the team can both, have some worlds a lot shorter than the others, but then we’d have a Winnie the Pooh situation where you get to the end and you’re like “wait that’s it?”

They’d need to justify why the world is used in the first place at a reduced story and environment level, and if they ever return to multiple trips to a world they’d have to justify why that world and not another. If every world got multiple visits then I think there’d be people disappointed at one still being at a reduced scope to another.

I am hopeful that there’ll be multiple world visits. We know Quadratum is the home base for the game and you leave and return, and I’d be interested if they did it sort of like a metroidvania where you can’t proceed in one world so you have to go back to Quadratum and find another world to get a skill or ability to proceed.

Idk.

MGS Delta’s release date and new trailer were leaked by the PlayStation store. Likely posted a week early for the planned SoP. Especially considering it ends with a tease of Ape Escape.

Will keep my expectations in check, as this is likely just the developers of Delta being true to the original and including the Snake vs. Monkey minigame. I will honestly flip out if anything new related to Ape Escape gets announced in the future.

I could see Team ASOBI being put on a low budget AA Ape Escape title. Those who've played Astrobot can understand what I mean

Not too much of note in the SE’s results briefing. The Q&A won’t come for another month or two, which is usually where more of the meaningful insights are. But they did say their operating income for their mobile segment is down sharply due to weakness of existing titles and the content production account write down.

Missing Link’s delay was likely a big reason they were down so much, but at least it wasn’t one of the games written off.

In non-KH news, they said DQIII exceeded expectations, so hopefully they’ll consider HD-2D remakes of DQIV-Vi.

maybe there's a lesson to be learned here

Unfortunately the mobile segment still made a billion yen more in profit compared to their console games. So I doubt they’ll be steering away from mobile games any time soon.

That said, both are dwarfed by the MMO segment with XIV and DQX, which made more in profit than both of the other segments combined.

Damn the KH4 re-reveal is really gonna be in April 2026, huh? 😭

But seriously, it sounds like it’s more of an executive networking thing than an event where we would see trailers, etc.

I wish that’d be true and that we also get a FFXIII collection remaster. Would explain the random new merch for Lightning and Noctis announced yesterday.

But I’ll never believe in Square Enix giving me what I want so 😭

Edit: they describe a remake not a remaster considering they said the combat would be replaced by VII remake’s combat. That’d never happen

Say this is true, why FFXV of all things? I love the game but I feel like Square Enix should have bigger priorities when it comes to remasters.

Looking at 358/2 Days & Re:Coded
I would like that, because that game had a lot of potencial. If they remastered it with Unreal Engine and improve it, it would be great.

We man not ever get Versus 13, but we may get closer to something like it. With that and/or Verum Rex.

they should take a lesson that cheap and simple concepts will win 49/50 times in the mobile market. mobile-only players have a VERY low bar of quality, so there's no real need to create a high-concept KH mobile game. compared to FF and DQ's mobile outings, it's hard to tell as an outside what the KH games are even about.

launchpad is beating a dead horse, yeah, but we're looking down the barrel of a situation where a KH title has a very real chance of not breaking even. keeping an eye on the company's mobile sales and what moves they make with KH moving forward should be very telling regarding the series future on phones.
