to confirm some things
the time in the ROD is different than the time in the real world
aqua has only been in the realm of darkness for 10-11 years

Man I don't know why Nomura insists on keeping the protagonists so young. What's wrong with letting them age a bit?

In The RoD and RoL time moves differently.
While it has been 12 Years in the RoL, it hasn't been very long in the RoD. So Aqua might of only been in the RoD for a couple years or a couple months.

I think in the latest interview Nomura said it wasn't technically a year after KH2... Like it has been over year since Diz first met Sora (when he was sleeping in the pod)...

So that clears that one up...

It would have been funny if Sora, Riku, and Kairi had stopped growing though.lol They'd be midgets...

Time really doesnt affect you in the RoD...and in the new Nomura interview, it says that when AtW says "it has been one year"...he means from when Sora fell asleep...so Aqua was in the RoD for only 11 years.

Here's tidbits of the interview-----

-- At one point in 'KHII', Ansem the Wise escapes from the world of darkness. This time he has once again descended into the world of darkness. At what point in time does this happen?

Nomura: After 'KHII'. When he stopped the Organisation's plans in 'KHII', he was caught up in an explosion and blown into the world of darkness. The line where he says, "I first met him one year ago," is referring to before 'he' went to sleep - that is, it's referring to the time of 'Chain of Memories'. It doesn't mean this is one year after 'KHII'.

-- At that point, it seems like Aqua has been lost for a long time.

Nomura: Yes. From when she comes to the world of darkness to when she meets Ansem the Wise, over 10 years have passed in the outside world. The flow of time is different in the world of darkness and the outside world, so it doesn't feel like 10 years have passed. But there's no mistaking that she's been in the world of darkness for quite a long time.

Wasn't KH2 supposed to be two years after the start of KH1 or was that changed to one year? I could of sworn that it's been 12 years since BBS. (10 years + the 2 years from the start of KH1 to KH2)

From KH1 to KH2 was only one year...where did you hear it was 2 years?...it has always been only one year between the two.

That's strange though... I mean your body has its own natural clock. Then again, this is Kingdom Hearts where your memories are stored in your heart... Your body not aging in the realm of darkness could easily make sense...

Aqua didn't age because as Nomura states in the new interview, time passes differently in the dark realm.

Numora stated in his last interview that time goes by differently in the realm of darkness as compared to the realm of light (that may mean that 12 years in the realm of light is equal to one year in the realm of darkness).

Nomura: Yes. From when she comes to the world of dark flow of time is differenness to when she meets Ansem the Wise, over 10 years have passed in the outside world.
