While it is unlikely we will be going inside Riley's mind we can still have Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger reside in either Sora, Kairi, Subject X's mind and have Sora, Riku and/or Kairi interact with the emotions and do an original story from here cause at the end of the film we got so many different emotions residing in the minds of the other characters besides Riley and her Parents.
Yes, exactly, the credits were what made me think it could work too. There are a lot of possibilities. It seems like a good opportunity for Kairi to be playable and demonstrate her empathy, or Namine given her power over memory. Sora and Riku miiight be more entertaining for the Emotions to play off of, but I see Sora as the natural mind to go within, especially if the Emotions all take on a little physical characteristic of their host. He has the most iconic design, after all, it could be his hair or just aspects of his style, like his clown shoes. And his perspective is the main one, so his unique islands together would feel like a KH theme park and history museum.

But if it was Riku, they could give Sadness his KH2 hair, and let us explore a mindscape with an edge.

I'm not sure about returning to Halloween Town, if I'm going to be honest as literally we explored the majority of the film's locations and their isn't any story left for this world. Honestly, the majority want the world back just to see how it would look like in the Unreal Engine 4.
Even a revisit to the same town square and spiral hill is worth more to me than any particular location from any other potential or existing worlds. And now, it can have streets, and alleyways. The iconic townsfolk. Town Hall, Jack's House, the full lab. A sprawling cemetery, a hinterlands you can actually get lost in. And I personally want to see Oogie's blacklight dungeon casino expanded greatly a la the Treehouse from KH1. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a treasure that can only elevate KH by its inclusion. They can make up a new story, as they've done twice now.

Hey, would anyone be open for a Meet the Robinsons world? I don't think it will be included at all, but if it would I'd certainly enjoy a future-like setting. Even moreso then San Fransoyko. How popular is that movie? Again I doubt they'll use it ever in KH, it was just a possible suggestion for a older world while not being a classic one.

@SweetYetSalty I'd love to see Meet the Robinsons in some shape or form in the game, regarding popularity it's hard to say, but their is few people talking about the film nor is it in the level as the other cult Disney films like Atlantis and Treasure Planet, but I'd love to see this film appear for a future KH game.

I don't think Disney will be as restrictive with this film when compared to the Pixar worlds (e.g. Monster's Inc.), Arendelle, and Kingdom of Corona in KH3 and presumably their later animated films if they become worlds (e.g. Wreck-It Ralph, Zootopia, Moana, etc.)

Come to think of it I could see this be a world for the next KH game before KH4 it will depend on if the theme for this film would fit the theme for the next KH game cause Nomura and his team are a bit wishy-washy when it comes to decide which Disney films they want as worlds and are added in due to:
  • The themes that the specific Disney or Pixar film have in common to the theme of the specific KH game (e.g. Friendship, Trust, Connections, Promises, etc.)
  • The Story the world can offer
  • The gameplay value and environment that the world can offer.
  • Variety
  • Disney and to a degree fans giving Requests and suggestions to which Films they want to see added in the game to Nomura and the team (e.g. Big Hero 6 in KH3)
  • Nomura and/or the developers favorite films.

@welken I'm not opposed for an original story and experienced an accurate representation of Halloween Town much like they did it with Olympus and The Caribbean for KH3, but what else can we do here in this world? I'm pretty satisfied with the way they ended the world off in Kingdom Hearts II. Not to mention that other than Christmas Town we don't know what the Holiday doors look like cause we NEVER had visited them nor were they shown in Oogies Revenge.

Besides, having Oogie Boogie being brought back to life again would feel pretty repetitive and linear at this point. Even same can be said for Olympus (Hercules') cause after the destruction of the Titans in KH3 I just feel it would be redundant having Hades coming up with a new plan to destroy Hercules or takeover Olympus after he keeps foiled again and again, so I doubt Olympus is coming back for the next KH games.

Finally it will come down to whether or not Nomura and his team are that interested in having Halloween Town again for future games cause it all comes down to:
  • Which Disney or Pixar films do Nomura and the development team want as worlds in the game
  • Which specific Disney worlds they want to reuse again for that specific KH game.
  • The themes that the specific Disney or Pixar film have in common to the theme of the specific KH game (e.g. Friendship, Trust, Connections, Promises, etc.)
  • The Story the world can offer and for Sora's growth
  • The gameplay value and environment that the world can offer.
  • Variety
Not to mention I haven't seen the world be used in any KH games since KH2 and 358/2 Days respectively.

Nice listing for the worlds you want especially on Inside Out and Treasure Planet, in fact I made a post a while back regarding Inside Out and you're not alone on wanting this film to appear in KH. As you said it yourself the film focus on emotions, memories and dreams which could be a useful plot device for the next KH game. While it is unlikely we will be going inside Riley's mind we can still have Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger reside in either Sora, Kairi, Subject X or Naminé's mind and have Sora, Riku and/or Kairi interact with the emotions and do an original story from here cause at the end of the film we got so many different emotions residing in the minds of the other characters besides Riley and her Parents.

The Personality islands featured in the film, that make up someone's personality and as a nod to the original movie, the islands can still feature the same ones (Goofball Island, Friendship Island) but with new original Islands created specifically for Sora, Kairi, Naminé and Subject X.

So Inside Out does scream potential for the next Kingdom Hearts game and having it centered on Fear and Anger could be an interesting approach.

I'm not sure about returning to Halloween Town, if I'm going to be honest as literally we explored the majority of the film's locations and their isn't any story left for this world. Honestly, the majority want the world back just to see how it would look like in the Unreal Engine 4.
That picture alone basically explains what I'm talking about -- each personality island can be fleshed out and explored. Then you have the dream studio, abstract thought (although that may be cutscene only), the pit where everything gets forgotten, and the jail where the clown was kept.

I can see it following Riley easily and even following the plot of the film. If they're going into dreams, that can explain visiting Riley when she was daydreaming on the way to her new home. Riku/Kairi can enter her mind that way. If they do it like KH3D, Kairi can team up with Joy/Sadness and follow the film's plot. She can gain confidence in seeing Joy/Sadness doing what they have to do to save Riley, her experiences can even impact them if she tells them about Sora.

I wouldn't expect it to follow the plot of the film, because Pixar had requested for Nomura and his team to have the worlds based on their movies to follow an original storyline that is exclusive to Kingdom Hearts instead of retelling the events of the movie as seen with the Toy Story world being an interquel to Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 and the Monster's Inc. world set after the events of the first film in Kingdom Hearts III.

And the reason the Pixar worlds have original stories and not a retelling of their films compared to the other Disney worlds is because:
  • Pixar doesn't want to create an alternate version of the film, because if they retell the movies' events it would take away the morals and heart what made the original movies special.
  • They want the personalities of the characters to remain the same as in their respective films
  • It will allow Sora and Company to become part of the Pixar films world and be involved in the setting
  • Have the Pixar characters become part of the KH adventure
  • Protect the "canon" of each film without alternating important story events.
When Nomura was pitching the story for the Toy Story world to Pixar (I heard he wanted it to retell the 1st or 2nd film) they told him to create something original unrelated to their films which Nomura went back to the drawing board again and after months and years of pitching the new story back to Pixar they approved Nomura's new story.

I also think if we get worlds based on Brave, Onward, The Incredibles, Coco and Soul as worlds in a future game it's likely they would be an original storyline and not a retelling of the movie, with the latter two worlds being a prequel set before their respective films while the former three (Brave, Onward, The Incredibles) will be sequel storylines.

But going back to Inside Out, who knows how they would do the story either they would have it set in Riley's mind where the story will be set after the events of the movie or It's very likely that Sora, or Riku/Kairi will meet Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger residing in either Sora, Kairi, Subject X and/or Namine's mind instead of Riley's mind if you ask me.

But hey I'm just excited what they can do with a potential Inside Out world and just imagine seeing the emotions with the characteristics of either Sora and/or Kairi and one of the Keyblade transformations for the potential Inside Out keyblade can be Bing-Bong's Rocket Wagon, even Kairi's interactions with the 5 emotions.

I thought it was the individual teams that made requests with what to do with the property? I get not wanting to retell Riley's story because it would lose its original power, but I think the journey of Joy accepting Sadness can mirror a main plot story. I can see Kairi being in Riley's mind (with Joy and Sadness as party members). Kairi finds out that Riley wants to run away. She knows how painful it is to lose someone (Sora) and doesn't want Riley's parents to feel that, let alone Riley to lose herself. Kairi sides with Joy that being happy will fix things, but then realizes (with Joy) that Sadness is necessary. After Kairi clears the world, she can have a cutscene with Riku where she lets herself be sad about Sora's disappearance, has a major meltdown in Riku's arms, and maybe even comes to accept that she may not find him. That prompts her to pick herself up and continue the mission.

@Face My Fears You miss the big picture, I'm not saying I'm against the retelling of Inside Out, all I'm saying is that when compared to the other Disney worlds from previous games and in KH3 that were a loose retelling of the plot of the movie or just an original plot for certain Disney worlds (e.g. San Fransokyo, Halloween Town, Sora's story of The Grid, Terra and Aqua's visit to Deep Space, Monstro, Neverland, Beast's Castle, Space Paranoids), the worlds of Toy Box and Monstropolis being original stories and not a retelling of the films were all made by the decision at Pixar who requested Nomura to do something that's an original storyline which he did confirmed during his interview following the reveal of the Toy Story world at D23 2017:
[Pixar] preferred for us to not follow the film directly, Nomura explained. They said, Please create something original to Kingdom Hearts, so we did not draw any inspiration from the films. It is completely original and exclusive to Kingdom Hearts, so you can almost say it’s a sequel of some sort.
Secondly, NO the Pixar worlds weren't divided by individual teams when compared to the other KH3 Disney worlds (e.g. Corona, Arendelle, San Fransokyo, etc.) as literally the majority of the folks at Pixar were all involved with both the Toy Story and Monster's Inc. worlds in KH3 such as Tasha Sounart, Jason Katz and the characters designers from the Toy Story films and Monster's Inc. Not to mention they did put some guidelines and certain restrictions (not in the level as Frozen's guidelines) on the 2 Pixar based worlds which doesn't surprise me, cause apparently it was most noticeable in Monstropolis as Pixar was VERY Picky and restrictive on that world according to an interview from Nomura and in the Ultimania when compared to Toy Box, which would likely explain why Randall wasn't fought as a boss.

You can continue arguing and refuting your point, but I'm going to be blunt if we are going to get future Pixar-based worlds in future games, it's likely they would be original stories and not a retelling of the movie at Pixar's behest.

Finally here are links for the mentioning of Pixar's involvement:

If they do a Inside Out world I'm almost certain it will be a minigame world like 100 Acre Woods. I doubt we'll see any heartless in someone's head...or maybe we will. Be even so Joy and the others would have no way to combat them, minus Anger's fire head. That actually would be a amusing attack lol.

It's possible that Joy and Sadness might use their combat abilities from Disney Infinity or something original for KH that will allow them to become party members

Perhaps they might give Joy and Sadness their combat abilities from Disney Infinity. If they can make Mike Wazowski who was not much of a fighter in the original film into a party member then I don't think that Joy, Sadness and some of the other emotions would be ruled out.

It's likely that the enemies could be Nightmare Dream Eaters as they reside in the realm of sleep, but I could see Heartless and Nightmare Dream Eaters appearing in both the Inside Out world, but I'd choose Nightmare Dream Eaters.

I mean a world built upon emotions wouldn't have creatures born from negative emotions? I can easily see the Unversed or Dream Eaters in an Inside Out world.

Like you said, if Mike can be a fighter with "Knockout Body" as his equipped weapon, I'm sure Joy/Sadness can be party members. Maybe Joy uses Light magic and Sadness uses Water magic?

Yeah, but Mike Wazowski was a monster, a small one, but a monsters. I'm not against the idea of combat in Inside Out, I just assumed if we got that world it would be minigames. But if they have the world with combat I'll take it. No complaints.

The Dream Eaters being used here would also be quite creative and a good place to reintroduce the nightmare versions.

Even a revisit to the same town square and spiral hill is worth more to me than any particular location from any other potential or existing worlds. And now, it can have streets, and alleyways. Yes, there are a lot of older worlds I'd like to re-visit not simply because I like those characters / films, but because I'd love to see how they would look in the new graphics. TNBC, Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin, B&tB, and Mulan are the main ones. Same with the three fairy tale worlds in BbS, although those would be much more difficult to think of something else to do (well, SB could be Maleficent coming back to retrieve something she left in her fortress). At least we got a little of those worlds in 0.2.

At that point, we may as well just remake each game again in unreal engine, this time...honestly I'd like that if it means redoing and fixing most wrongs throughout each game...and there're a lot of wrongs. Specifically Kairi. Anyway, a remake is the only thing I could see at this point. I...can't at all see most of these worlds come back, especially Beauty and the Beast. And knowing Disney's retelling streak, if they ever come back, they'll just play them as the movies they haven't done yet and exclude Sora...because Disney doesn't like the crossing over idea...cause god forbids they do a crossover IN A CROSSOVER.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Unversed appeared once more even if Vanitas has met his end in KH3, but then again I've seen a lot of surprises and loopholes so their eventual return is possible, but more than likely it would be

I'd also like the idea of giving Joy and Sadness Light and Water magic abilities.

I totally agree with you! I wish I could see all those classic worlds in KH3 quality, just to see what Nomura would do with the worlds... especially Halloween Town and Atlantica.

Lol, now watch us go back to Pride Rock, Land of Dragon, and Atlantica to retell the direct to video stories of Lion King 2, Mulan 2, and Little Mermaid 2. Actually I would love to see Ariel's daughter Melody in Kingdom Hearts XD

I'd see Atlantica to be the most difficult to return cause it seems like this Disney world is one of the few instances that time flows normally as Ariel was 16 years old in the first KH game and 17 years old (according to the original KH2 website), thus making it unlikely to adapt the events of Return to the Sea.

Not to mention that other than the Phantom Ursula in DDD and the Ariel Link summon in KH3, Atlantica hasn't been making ANY appearances as a world since KH2, even the same can be said for Pride Lands and The Land of Dragons.

Yeah, I'd prefer an original story, not Return to the Sea... Same for Mulan, but I actually don't mind the TLK sequel. Same with Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

If they do Atlantica or Land of Dragons, I want original stories. I think Nomura should look at the classic worlds as ones he can select for original stories linked to the main plot, while new worlds can be film retellings with slight connection to main plot (a la Corona/Arendelle).
