Anyway on the update on it on certain news. He said that it was self defense and that the neigbor who was hanging towels provoked him to attack him, due to the neighbor saying something about his dead mother.The actor said that it was self defense and he is not a violent person.

I doubt it was literally over a towel. I don't doubt it started that way, but it probably led to him interpreting his neighbor being a real bonker and got so upset he socked him/choked him.
