Just like in Dragonball Z, if someone gets caught in a grip, they cant do anything about it. We saw this with Vanitas and Sully, Terranort and the Guradian, Rxoas and the Guardian. I seems like KH characters need to some space to use their powers, they cant just do it mentally or maybe being restained makes it hard to concentrate? They could just grab Xehanort and shoot a beam at him like Piccolo did with Raditz.
