Yes, that's exactly how I feel about it! Funny, I've never talked to anyone about KH who shared SO many opinions with me. That's new and ... kinda cool when you feel understood
I feel similar about Xion, as I mentioned in your latest thread. Days had so much potential it didn't use, overall it felt a little like fanfiction. Again, a bunch of conflicts that were leading nowhere because no "best friend" ever in this series decides to TALK things out. It surely wouldn't be nice to get to hear that one of your buddies is a replica but it definitely would've helped Xion more than ... nothing. Maybe Axel feared she might run off if she got to know it but well, same goes for NOT knowing it, so the result is basically the same but you could've avoided destroying every friendship there is. If it wasn't for the (mainly) loveable characters and the basic setting, KH would probably not be that successful since the writing is (imo) not too good overall.
Yes ... what bothers me is that there was no point in giving Kairi a keyblade at this particular time if she wasn't going to do anything with it. She could've discovered her wielding abilities later to go training then, but this way it was just kinda pointless. And poorly written. I don't want to say she has to be a wielder to be important, there are other ways around it. I love how Dragonball did it, Bulma is a real important character for the series, one that all the other guys, no matter how strong, couldn't live without. She invents stuff they need, bargains with gods, solves problems with her brain and has balls of steel. Kairi doesn't have to suddenly be super smart and invent stuff but she could be useful in other directories, maybe help Yen Sid or purify hearts or whatever. She really should get more screentime in 3, otherwise that scene in 2.8 is pointless ... again.
Why? Because they needed something to calm down the fans a little longer. At least they listened to the complaints and rework the models now, same for YX and Xemnas which I found infuriatingly ugly in the KH3 trailer.
Haha, the Frollo thing seems to bother a lot of people, a good friend of mine also complained about that. I never saw the original movie, so I don't really mind that.
I dislike petting and feeding and caring about animals in games in general. Not all games, I love Stardew Valley, but there are some examples of games that someday expanded their care necessities to a level that makes me roll my eyes. Example: Pokemon. Customization is nice, but being able to cut your Pokemon's hair and dress it and brush it and find out which stupid cake every Pokemon likes is so ... ugh to me. I wanted actual gameplay improvements and not seeing ressources being wasted on something like that. And again, Pokemon forces you to do the petting stuff because it gives you combat advantage if you brush your Pokemon. Uuuugh.
No one is ever being just normal friends in KH. We need drama. If I had friendships like those portrayed in the games, I'd need no enemies but a horrible amount of aspirine.
That and BBS. Well, you can understand BBS after thinking about it a little, but time travel just went haywire. Blaming the whole conflict on "it's fate now, deal with it" doesn't make it better.
I do different kind of stories, first one was an RPG, followed by an adventure game. The latest thing I wrote was a branching path story, similar to Life is strange (with actually different outcomes, yey!). I usually write a story and decide what might be the best medium for it afterwards. It's a lot of fun thinking about that.
What do you plan to write?
I'm looking forward to that! Hopefully you get a new computer soon I need a new cell phone, Ux is eating half of my disk space. Really annoying.
