Is it normal for KH theme songs to get remixes that don't appear in games or is this a foreshadowing?

Yes. “Hikari” had a number of remixes that aren’t in the game. The full length PLANiTb remix of “Hikari” is one. Not to mention the Godson Remix and P’s Club mix.

And then of course “Passion” the original version is never in the games.

I’m assuming this is going to be like those, but you never know!

Considering how many games use Hikari as a theme I'm a bit sad that none of them has used this version, especially since this was released on the original single.

Yeah, it’s a good remix. I would assume that KH only has rights to use the two specific versions of Hikari, though. Well…three technically with Ray of Hope.

I'm wondering if Utada will ever attempt a stripped down/acoustic version of Face My Fears? I know it's trickier because it's an electronic song and there aren't that many lyrics, but it would be interesting to see her do it... and also give me another version lol. There's that live version of Simple & Clean she did, I think on a radio station years ago. The only issue is that Face My Fears is definitely more related to KH than to Utada herself like Simple & Clean was, I guess since Face My Fears was made for KH.

It'll be interesting to hear what it sounds like. The Godson remix for Hikari and the remix of "Simple and Clean (Short Edit)" for 0.2 were both great ones.

I never thought about it, but was "Face My Fears" exclusively English even for Japanese gamers? I know "Don't Think Twice" had "Chikai," but I can't remember about FMF.

Also, is that a Japanese language version of Find Love that I spy in the bonus tracks? If so, between it and the English version of Kimini Muchuu she mentioned in a tweet it seems that she is leaning into the brand of being a bilingual singer. [S]Maybe if this direction is successful the English versions of her early songs will finally be released /wishful thinking[/S]

Alas, I cannot. But I can give you Time Will Tell English version, which was released on First Love's 15th anniversary deluxe edition.

For those not in the know, some of Utada's early Japanese songs were actually written in English first then translated, such as Time Will Tell, Automatic and Movin' On Without You. That doesn't mean that there are unreleased English versions of every song (if anything I'd imagine that she dropped the practice quickly) but there are a few.

Isn't the original a remix already? I always felt with Face my Fears that we never got to hear the original song. XD

Utada should do that at a concert. I loved how in the Laughter in the Dark concert, she come out in a black and white dress to sing Chikai. She should do another concert and have a KH intro medley where she wears something thematic to the game... or even better, if the lights cut and when they come back on she's sitting in the throne like Sora does (and in that artwork Nomura did for her).

I believe I read somewhere that Face My Fears was made FOR KH3's intro and that Skrillex is the one that pitched that idea. They were working on remixing Don't Think Twice, but Skrillex thought it would be better to do a new additional song instead (bless his heart - a true KH fan giving us two themes, he knew what he was doing).

So Face My Fears, what we have IS the original song... if what I read is true.

Meh it was kinda boring

I'm used to music like this (and make music like this) so I guess that's why I personally like it.

This is endlessly better than the og for me, just because it doesn't have that awfull skrillex drop in it and has more of the piano incorpurated into it.

I feel its 1st minute and a half is the best part, then it becomes a bit repetitive. Feel it could be a bit shorter.

The first half was nice, then it just went off and not in a particularly good way, at least to my tastes lol

Really just want a slow/reserved version without all the bells and whistles.

More piano, less drop. I want this version in KH3.5. :p

I didn't care for it now I've listened to it. It did start off okay...but after that it becomes unbearable. The only other part I liked was in the last third when they spliced the lines of the chorus to double ("Let me FACE, let me face, Let me FACE, let me face, let me face my fears." Personally, I was one of those who always loved the original version, it and DTT both.

I've enjoy quite a few "glitchpop" songs (I used to listen to Pogo a lot) so this was right up my alley! Wow I like it a lot! It does get a little to repetitive after a while though but I like it more than the original KH3 remix, no offense to Skrillex. I feel like this song is better suited to an opening compared to the KH3 opening. Would be cool to see a pro splice together the KH3 intro to fit here.
