Yay! The actor sounded really similar, but it is nice to get a confirmation that he is back. I am looking forward for his future trolling. It is gonna be amazing. I just can`t wait to see all the discussions between Xehanort and Eraqus.

So can I ask something? If this trailer is never before seen, does that mean it hasn't been seen in Japan as well? Because they used English voice actors right? What about Japan? What trailer do they get (probably the same)? And when (probably shown around the same time I guess (still gotta ask))? And does that mean that the release dates between the Japanese and English versions will be that much shorter?

It'll probably be interesting to see where Xehanort went bad, right?

I have a theory: there's an intelligence behind the Keyblades; like, Master Xehanort's Keyblade possesses the mind of it's original owner, and was influenced through the whispers and such of said previous owner.

Maybe, Kingdom Hearts 3 would fill us on that. Would Eraqus and Xehanort's master make an appearance?

Young Eraqus is voiced by Drake Bell. You can hear his voice distinctly.

As always, it's nice to get confirmation on Trollenort voicing...well, Trollenort again! As per usual, he did a fantastic job!

Having not been impressed with his work in the previous games, I was really happy to hear how Ben Diskin sounds in this trailer. His delivery of that final line is just dripping with implications. I like the idea of YX being a mischievous trickster.

How old were they in the trailer 14? So young mx is 15-20ish?

At least for Japanese Eraqus, I'm fairly confident that he's voiced by Daisuke Namikawa.

Really wish Ben would reveal who the English voice is but I understand that it's not really his place/he's not allowed to. Knew instantly that he was reprising his role though :)

Since KH 3 is going to be much bigger in scope than DDD, I certainly hope we'll hear much more from him, trolling many of the protagonists and the other thirteen seekers alike throughout the game.
It remains to be seen if Ben as Young Xehanort can out-troll Braig/Xigbar, the series' reigning troll-king so far.

Am I the only one confused by this? I see it said a lot, but isn't the whole premise of KH3D that YMX time-traveled before even leaving Destiny Islands for the first time, meaning that a YMX in Land of Departure would actually be older than the YMX in KH3D? :/

That is the premise and logical conclusion, but based on the voice direction Ben was given and how noticeably younger he looks and sounds... we're assuming that Nomura is ignoring the continuity.

Why do I always seem to miss these things? I want to see this guy's handiwork just so I can YX sitting at a computer, snickering as he trolls the fandom itself.



I'd say Trollanort is winning right now. Xigbar might be an amazing troll, but Trollanort takes it to a meta level. He's gotten the nickname for a reason!

I'm calling it now: The linearity of time is breaking down because of this guy's time travel shenanigans.

My own theory is that the YX we see in DDD, specifically the one that we see being approached by Mr. Robe Guy, had already left the islands before then. The first time we see the Trollanort we all know, he was just visiting his homeworld rather than wishing to escape it. Of course he would comment that the Destiny Islands are too small; he's been to other places, so he knows exactly what he's talking about in terms of size.

Or maybe this conversation between Eraqus and YX never actually takes place, but is more of a dream or a Blank Point?

I mean, it would make sense because Xehanort seemed really...at ease and unsurprised with visiting different worlds in KH3D and was extremely knowledgable about everything well beyond what SoD could have possibly told him.

I mean, is it possible he means this much more simply? And is just clarifying that YMX isn't time traveling in this scene and this scene takes place before the events of KH3D (as in post-KH2) and not that this is taking place before YMX ever time traveled? Because it just doesn't make sense otherwise given what was stated in KH3D lol

I would love for that to be the case, but I also think that they're just messing with and scrapping the continuity straight out the gate. There's a very slim chance that the Xehanort in that trailer wasn't the youngest we've seen him.

Things tend to not be that simple, but... ugh. It's too ambiguous to say. You could be right, that the conversation we see in the trailer simply took place before DDD (and pretty much every game for that matter). Of course, I (and a lot of other people, I guess) probably assumed that YX as we saw him at the beginning of BBS was before he left the islands; now here's an even younger Xehanort, conversing with Eraqus in a place that is obviously not Destiny Islands.

Now that I think about it, I suppose it was never explicitly stated that Trailernort is younger than the one that showed up in DDD. Maybe he's actually older. Or did an interview ever confirm that Trailernort was the younger one?

I would certainly love for it to be that, if only to make it easier like a conversation between hearts or they are resurrected to that age, but at the same time why would they 1) both appear to each other as young kids in training/be resurrected to kids? 2) why would Eraqus bother referring to the prophecy as "the master's favorite story" if this is post-KH2? 3) where the hell are they where they can have a relaxing game of chess and why is Xehanort's keyblade on the wall like a trophy? 4) why are Xehanort and Eraqus even on remotely friendly terms enough to play chess and exchange smiles considering the whole stabbing in the back ordeal??????????? and some other (bad on my part) questions that dig deeper into the oddity of this.

I am inclined to believe Tinny and BlackOsprey and figure Nomura is on a retcon adventure and is here to diddly us up because we don't like his time travel rules...

It hasn't, but the implication that the convo took place before KH3D sort of implies he is younger, but it can be meant like how Audo thinks it may mean.

Also his face just looks a lot younger (i.e. his jawline is shorter, doesn't look as tall but it is hard to tell by him sitting down) and his hair is shorter as well.

It's really just a means to convey my tone. I find if I don't put it everyone thinks I'm blunter and meaner than I intend to be.

Like that Nomura was just clarifying that the scene happened before the events of KH3D in general (aka the stuff that is placed after kh2 on the timeline), not before YMX started time-traveling.

Shorter hair doesn't always mean younger. *pokes present-day Riku with the shorter hair* I figured the differences in appearance had more to do with how the very different graphics make them look. It's almost like an alternate art style.

And from what I understand from the screwed-up time travel laws, it's unlikely this would be able to work anyways. "Must leave your body behind", "can only move forward per laws of time" (for what that one's worth...), plus the fact that the method Sora and Riku used was likely possible only because of Yen Sid's magic.

There's a great thread about Sora & Riku time-travelling somewhere, do some searching. It's actually really well written.

As for trailernort, Nomura confirmed he was the youngest version of trollanort we've seen yet. Perhaps he'll be on the 'Nort Court with everyone else, so we'll have trailernort, trollanort, and Grandpanort all on the same team...

I believe Audo made a thread that explains that because Sora and Riku both lost their bodies, they gained the ability to time travel which was the idea I was working off of. It is really the only thing that makes sense with the rules Nomura set in place considering the game itself doesn't attempt to explain how Sora & Riku were sent back to DI beyond "Yen Sid did some magic and it worked".
