Famitsu: Tetsuya Nomura and his cats

In celebration of Cat Day on February 22nd, Famitsu released a short spread interviewing well-known game developers about their feline companions. Naturally, Tetsuya Nomura's cats were included. He speaks of how his cats cheered him up when he was depressed and how they inspire his work on Kingdom Hearts 3.

-The reason he got these cats:
Our family really loved cats and dogs, so we always had them in the house. For this reason, when I got a little depressed I was recommended to get cats.-This is Deshi and Hisho.
Deshi is slowly slowly becoming like me.
Hisho is always first to pick up on anything strange going on in the room.-Deshi-kun and Hisho-chan’s personalities
When Deshi first came to the house, he was a bit of a hooligan, he had a bad habit of biting whenever you put your arm close to him. I had to be quite strict with him, but now he’s a very friendly cat that loves company. As for Hisho, maybe it’s because I was too overprotective of her, she’s pampered and is incredibly wary. Deshi goes at his own pace, when it’s midnight he’ll go off to his bed and sleep, but Hisho, as long as I’m in the house, she won’t leave my side.-Episode of Deshi-kun and Hisho-chan.
Some people say that the inspiration for Chirithy’s model in Kingdom Hearts X is inspired by my cats, but at the time that I designed Chirithy I didn’t own them. In KINGDOM HEARTS III, however, there’s a section planned which takes motif from Deshi. I’m thinking to have him interviewed about that actually, so I can’t disclose any information at the moment (laughs).

Maybe Nomura's cats invading the SE office and sleeping on the keyboards(only when they're being used, but of course) is what accounts for all KH related delays.
I hope his cat literally just appears in the game tbh. I would welcome it openly.

I remember back when FFXV was in development under Nomura, I totally believed there would be an area with cats and Noctis could pet them because Nomura would vaguely talk about wanting a cat every now and then in the one off interview.
Now all I can think of is a section in KH3 that is just Sora petting cats and then there is a super adorable Neko Atsume-meets-Nintendogs-meets-Animal Crossing-like mini game?

You can really see the resemblance to Sora's monster form with Deshi, by the way this just adorable.

I literally made a rocket noise shoot up over my head and got sent to the when I read that! FOR HIM TO MENTION THIS, I'M TOO EXCITED FOR WORDS!!! Sora and Master Xehanort, Final battle!! Who doesn't want to experience this? Eeeeeeeek! I can't believe this year...It's REALLY COMING!!!!!! So, Sora in MI world WAS inspired by Nomura-San's cats! I knew it! That's so cute too how he dreamed of owning that breed of cat while making 2.8, and during the development of KHIII, his cat dreams finally became a reality. He got his cats. And looks like we can't be calling Sora's monster form gray anymore. He's officially been given the title Tabby Blue. And blue really makes sense on him. I'm happy! Only, for reasons I don't know yet, it looks like his monster form is more blue than his eyes. Why?!!! [/FONT]

Nomura loves to take inspiration from his pets so I'd love to see that be implemented in Kingdom Hearts III in some creative fashion.

Meh, most creative people do. I'm not very talented or anything, but I do draw and even I get extremely depressed. I knew about it when he mentioned " how people encouraged him to keep drawing that one Sora drawing they had him do live on youtube." And honestly, chu can see it in his eyes that he gets depression and when he talks...

He's said in interviews that getting the cats really helped him out, and he also focused his frustrations about XV on creating something amazing with KH3...
Ooh, an idea! Give Radiant Garden an animal shelter where we can play with the Disney pets we find throughout the game. A Dalmatian search/Dream Eater playtime combo.
That would be so cute. My biggest frustration about the Dalmations was that you couldn't actually interact with them once you saved them and they went back to the house. Of course, the PS2 probably couldn't handle that anyways.
