So the Oscuridad di Xehanort is in fact Forza Finale. Very cool name!
Also, Scala ad Caelum battle theme being named "Edge of Existence" is amazing as well.

Finally we know who composed and arranged each one of the musics!

Anybody got an idea what Disc 7 Track Nr 13, 14, 15 could be?

Track 15 - Nachtflügel is German for „Wing of the night“. Maybe Yozora‘s Theme?

You can listen to previews on the album's website, which is linked in the OP. Should give your brain a little jog about which song is which :)

Perfect! Didn’t know about that. :)
EDIT: I’m sorry I was so hyped I didn’t read the opening post.

Forza Finale? Hmm...nah.

I'll stick to Oscurita di Xehanort. Forza Finale sounds like the name of the final Forza racing game

Huh?

Interesting that they would use German to name the battle theme against Yozora. Then again Xion’s theme is French as opposed to the usual eponym or Italian.

Still sounds cool though. At the risk of sounding like a prig, why does it remind me of Liszt and Chopin, particularly the latter?

Couple things I found could be interesting references, but could just as well be nothing:

“Stranded Beyond”, the Final World theme, seems to me a callback to “the Beyond” in FFXV, the metaphysical/pseudo-afterlife realm that resides inside the crystal and parallels Fabula Nova’s unseen realm, which the Final World always reminded me of. Screams of Versus XIII concepts

“Edge of Existence” similarly strikes me as curiously reminiscent of what Sephiroth refers to as the “edge of creation” in FF7R.

Though I’ve been convinced for a while that Nomura is trying to create a loose multiverse connected through a timeless meta-realm where characters’ stories have yet to be written/that follows from having “defied your fate.” So this could just be confirmation bias ?

Also, unrelated, but one bummer here is that it appears they’ve skipped the track that plays when Xion remembers who she is. It appears to jump straight to Roxas’ return.

Dawn of Hope (base Terranort) seems like a bit of a weird name given the context…at first glance I would've ascribed that to base Saïx. Speaking of, that track finally has a name—Hearts as One—so I can finally stop twisting my tongue when I say it.

I wondered what one of the non-translated names were.

And I got Let it Go but with As It Is slapped onto it.

The one everyone is looking for:
is it: passing the power? Or is it Master of Masters?

Finally, exactly what I wanted to see.

I'm really disappointed that they've left off all the Organization demise themes, and also Xigbar's from Olympus. Those were some of my favorites. So many cutscene cues missing, it's Remake all over again. Even the pre-Yozora cutscene which was just gorgeous. I'm ready for the KH3 OST+ Square!

But TRUE DARKNESS. That's what I've been waiting for! God I love that one, and the name isn't even bad. Best damn theme right there. Glad to get a clean version of Epilogue as well, for some reason that was the one track I could never find a clean rip of.

Before the Daylight, we finally have a name for that. And Stranded Beyond as well. Good names, beautiful tracks. Anyone else notice the Nujabes Mystline in the opening notes of the latter?

Forza Finale is a fine name for me. It is the finale after all.

Liked the names, especially Nachtflügel, but I wondered why some of the music was missing. In particular, there was a slower rendition of the battle theme in Data Greeting.

Pour one out for all the cutscene-only music excluded from the OST. The loss of that new arrangement of Terra's theme hurts me deep ?

Eh, at least it's not another "Dismiss" lol.

Hang on a sec....we got an interview a while ago where it was clearly stated Keiji Kawamori handled Forza Finale, didn't we? But that's not the name listed now.

I think this just means we misinterpreted Shimomura's words? She was praising Kawamori for this arrangement, which we took to mean he was the person responsible for it, but since he's the Music Supervisor for KH3, she could have very well just been giving him kudos because he's the one in charge.

I think this just means we misinterpreted Shimomura's words? She was praising Kawamori for this arrangement, which we took to mean he was the person responsible for it, but since he's the Music Supervisor for KH3, she could have very well just been giving him kudos because he's the one in charge.

Well there goes my whole belief system~

Ok if it was Yasunori Nishiki after all, well he also did One Winged Angel Rebirth so goddamn.

Who actually names the tracks? Is it the composer? Or anybody else?
Like Nomura tells Shimomura: “I want a track called The Other Promise which is the VS Roxas theme and Roxas’ story is like this...”

back to topic: I’m really disappointed with the name of the 13 Seekers theme boss theme. It’s literally “Replicas”. I mean, yeah Sherlock that’s true but why is this title so lackluster?
I would have even liked “13 Seekers of Darkness” but “Replicas”?

Usually the composer does, yeah. Sometimes Nomura has input, but it's very rare. They talk a bit about naming schemes here:

In your mind, which song is the KINGDOM HEARTS song?

TN:
"Dearly Beloved" is used often; it's a great song. But the title is hard to remember. What does it mean?

YS: Someone precious to you.

TN: Oh, really? Well, now I know. "Precious." Like The Lord of the Rings (laughs).

YS: I didn't use the internet back then. I was using a dictionary and saw it and thought, "This is it!" I can't believe it's been fifteen years and you can barely remember the title... Speaking of titles, there's a song called "Sunset Horizon" in the KINGDOM HEARTS II secret movie. I didn't want to use the word "sunset," but you did; the poor mediator had one tough job. Don't you remember?

TN: No... I wonder why I wanted to use that word so badly.

YS: I can't remember why I didn't want to use that word (laughs).

TN: I wonder if it's because I often went to Sunset Boulevard during the production of KINGDOM HEARTS II (laughs). Nevertheless, all your titles are hard to figure out. Some are in English, some in Italian. What is it you're trying to do? (laughs)

YS: They're generally in English, with a little bit of variety thrown in the mix...

TN: None of your titles help me realize, "Oh, that song!" You should keep them simple.

YS: My English isn't very good... A part of me would like to name them in Japanese...

TN: We've come this far, it'd be confusing if we switched now (laughs). When I'm making a trailer, I have to listen to every song
because I can't tell which title goes with which song. You should've named them in Japanese from the start!

YS: There was a discussion regarding naming the songs in English so they'd be understood by a wider audience.

TN: Speaking of song titles, I remember during the production of KINGDOM HEARTS II, we'd been referring to Roxas only as "the mysterious boy," but you named a song after him and put his name out there.

YS: That you remember (laughs). It wasn't supposed to be released yet because it was a spoiler, but it went out anyway. It was supposed to be released after the game.

TN: There was a reason we'd stuck with "the mysterious boy" since the beginning... See, this would've been a perfect opportunity for you to use one of your hard-to-understand titles! (laughs)

YS: But all of the other characters' themes were named after them. Anyway, it went on to become a popular song so it all worked out.

Because localization. Disney intentionally kept "Let It Go" as the title because it's iconic, but those words don't really mean anything in context of the song in Japanese. The extra words were appended on to get the actual message across.

Also like to shoutout Sachiko Miyano for arranging my 2 favorite data battle themes, Ansem and Marluxia. Those were probably the 2 I listened to most frequently so it doesn't surprise me they were the same person's work. Just masterful.

It's very interesting to get more insight as to who composed and arranged each track. I think it's easy to hear when Shimomura composes something, but I'm learning that it's harder to know when someone else is arranging it. I could have sworn that Forza Finale was composed and arranged by her, but apparently not.

Ditto with the Data XIII tracks, there were a few that I could have sworn were arranged by Shimomura, but none of them were. I still don't know what extent she assisted on those tracks, outside of creating the original tunes they were based on-- Data Xigbar and Data Luxord have new sections with previously unheard melodies. If these weren't provided by Shimomura herself, I'd say it was awfully bold to expand on her work.

I, like many others, can't enjoy Ishimoto's work on this game. The entire Scala-Final Xehanort section fills me with unimaginable fatigue as the same motifs are hammered into the ground with unrealistic AND unappealing synthetic orchestral sounds. I'm all for crunchy, gamey sounding MIDI music, I really enjoy older samples, but Ishimoto's works sound more like they're striving for realism and falling extremely short, which is odd because there are tons of high quality orchestral sound banks that almost sound real.

Like never before, Yoko Shimomura has really had to share Kingdom Hearts III with other composers, and, to be an annoying purist, that can be felt a lot when playing. Cutscene tracks are amazing, but the long stretches of time without a Shimomura original is kind of disheartening considering how fast and frequently KH1 and KH2 threw new iconic tracks at you.

Eh, I'm not that good at hearing her definitively, but FF I think that interview from a while ago gave the impression it was Keiji Kawamori who arranged FF. Turns out we all misunderstood, it was Yasunori Nishiki, who's just banging out these rearrangement masterpieces apparently.

Bold but very successful. Elaboration and transformation within the original framework are just what you hope to hear in sequel/remake music.

It's unfortunate but I guess always happens eventually with such a long running series. And then when we do get new stuff from her, it's brilliant. That she could still constantly outdo herself this many years in is impressive, and maybe it wouldn't be the case if she had sole composing duties. But as long as other composers stick to a KH sort of style, which I think they mostly did in KH3, I'm happy enough.

(but she 10 billion% should've composed the final Xehanort fights lol)
(or at least Nishiki who's definitely proven himself, or perhaps Miyano who did great work on Remind)

I could see the intro music being included, but I really doubt the good/bad ending soundtracks are gonna be put in (unless the track is like 10 minutes long). Shame too, because they're really good. Might see how far music-isolating neural networks have come to see if I can get it properly clean or something. Even though I wanted a brand new song to be the final Xehanort boss theme, I don't get how this song isn't "final boss-y":

It's more the fact that it wasn't orchestrated. It didn't need to be Yoko, but keeping it with Ishimoto's MIDI sounds makes it feel a bit less climactic. And he really should have just gone for more of something new rather than reusing past melodies, there's some great elements to it when he's working on the more original elements of the track.

I kind of saw the Rage Awakened aspects to be a reminder of where Master Xehanort's plan really started (with Terra/Lingering Will). I always go back and forth on this, I kind of like that they used it because it links back to Terra/Lingering Will, but then I kind of wanted something unique for Sora's confrontation. I think the reason I rather something familiar is because Sora didn't have much time with Master Xehanort, so there was no real connection.

I don't know, I just remember loving the violins during the fight and being so hyped to reach the last boss of KH III that I didn't over-analyze it. Or maybe I'm just a KH fanboy that accepts everything as perf (even KH2 "He's A Pirate").

Oh boy, He's a Pirate. Speaking of my Ishimoto un-fandom, you go right back to where it began lol, with poor synth quality.

Frickin 15 years later and nothing's changed.

I'd be fine with it, but what gets me is the fact that the other composers/arrangers either used live orchestras or synths that are either really good or practically indistinguishable from live instruments. I know why it happens, because practically every composer works for an outside company and is contracted in, so they can't just share licenses for synths and instrument samples with each other. I know it's really just Ishimoto's Kingdom Hearts work where he makes a lot of use of orchestral instruments, so he wouldn't want to pay the thousands of dollars high quality virtual instruments cost, but it just bugs me how much of a drop in quality there is with samples from everyone else to Ishimoto.

It's DEARLY BELOVED! Is nothing sacred anymore!? We need all versions of Dearly Beloved available before other tracks that played for 5 seconds in the game.

There was a version of Dearly Beloved in DDD's Symphony of Sorcery that never made it onto it's respective soundtrack either. Quite honestly, I think they should put every track on the soundtrack, don't know why they're left off in the first place anyway (especially digitally, so there's no concerns about running out of space on the discs).

I mean, not for nothing but if someone doesn't have the right tools for a job, I don't know if they should be assigned such an important one, like composing the ultimate culminating showdown of a whole game franchise. That's on the music supervisor.

I remember when people would use the excuse of "it's cuz Sora is really angry"

So FF7R is getting a 4-disc OST Plus with songs that weren't included in the original OST release.

Seems inevitable that KH3 will get the same treatment at some point.

Here's hoping, there's some tracks like the other stuff in the Secret Episode and all the Re:Mind cutscene tracks that seem like baffling omissions to me. I wonder how many songs are on FF7R Plus. The timeframe for the Plus release concerns me a bit too. If the December 23rd date is true, then we'd be waiting till mid-next year for the KH3 Plus (if it even happens). At least we wouldn't be looking at a full scale Volume 2 like FFXV had for KH3, in which they released like 120 more songs and still managed to leave out lots of tracks from the game. I'm honestly surprised it never ended up getting a Volume 3 or something to cover the tracks from the main game they still hadn't released as well as the music from Episode Ardyn.

How in the world did I miss this post?!

I love Edge of Existence, I'm just afraid at how hard it's going to be on Melody of Memory if it's even on there.

Oh my goodness :O I never found the name of the Dearly Beloved that's played in Re:Mind when the Xehanort Replica is getting blasted with light. Now I find out it's not even called Dearly Beloved.

AND YOZORA'S THEME HAS A NAME OMG I AM SO EXCITED :D

I ALSO LOVE EVERY SINGLE SONG ON THIS SOUNDTRACK OMG

(yesss we got anti-aqua's theme! :D)

Ok for KH3 at least, based on the playlist I looked at and some extrapolation, at very max, including just about everything omitted, even shorter cues that may still not make the cut, there are about 90 tracks possible for a KH3 Plus album. And even if you cut some of the shorter ones, it's still close to 80.

For FF7R, I believe the number is around the same. I think I guessed about 100 when I looked at a playlist a while ago, just from some quick math. I really just want to hear the Aerith in the Park theme, as well as the epic choral versions of Those Chosen By the Planet.

So, I'm guessing the piece of music that I really wanted has been cut from the release then...

One piece of music I cannot find is the music where Terra becomes Terra again? And it is not 'Chains to Bonds' either as that track is when TAV all hug. Baffled as to why this piece is missing from the soundtrack entirely. Unless I am just missing it obviously? If anyone can help that would be great!
