KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5, 2.8, III + Re Mind (DLC), and the all-in-one Integrum Masterpiece collection will launch on Switch via cloud streaming on February 10th, 2022. The games are now available for preorder and will cost the following:
- HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX: $39.99
- HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: $49.99
- III + Re Mind (DLC): $49.99
- INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE (includes all of the above): $89.99
Free playable demos are also available starting today.
This release of Kingdom Hearts III includes a brand new Keyblade: Advent Red.

I just pre ordered the Integrum Masterpiece for my Switch. I’m so excited to play the entire Kingdom Hearts series with heavy lagging and internet connection errors! And I get a keyblade themed after the neon red and neon blue joy cons too! I wonder if this exclusive keyblade will simulate joy con drift?
In all seriousness, though, I’m just happy the series is coming to Switch. Even if they are just Cloud versions, I’m happy to support the series.
But really, imagine wielding a keyblade with joy con drift. Every time Sora swings the keyblade it continues swinging in the same direction without stopping. Now that would be something.
Tried the KH 3 demo. Yeah, I was already not going to get this, but now I'm not even getting it on a big sale. The IQ looks really bad for me, so pixelized. And there is a constant very small delay that makes the experience not feel good, I probably notice it more because of how many times I've played through KH3, but yeah not good.

Is this on an otherwise normal home network?
Have you tried stadia? That works incredibly well and I'd love to compare it with the Nintendo Switch cloud gaming tech but don't have one. I have XBOX and Microsoft's effort is absolutely horrific and unplayable, though.
But Stadia is truly magic. Even online multiplayer works fine. Hopefully KH can come to Stadia and be part of the Stadia Pro collection.

So from reputable KH speedrunners here are the port issues they found:
Horrible input lag and game can drop inputs
The games do not look good.
The games are running from the PC port, they run at 60FPS on the PC but is outputted to the switch at 30FPS... yeah...
Audio sync issues
Lag spikes, which is to be expected.
For $90, I really advise against getting this port. Like legit, PS3 is even better than this port. At least those games don't have obvious issues that the cloud does.

In the name of SCIENCE! I conducted a field experiment.
Home wifi-: 35-36 MPS. Ran mostly well in handheld though clearly not native res. Docked cutscenes were choppier & some weird blurring afterimage effect on Ursula. Audio was not in sync with on screen action.
Best Buy guest wi-fi: Switch did not connect, could not play.
McDonald's wi-fi: The biggest surprise is this wasn't complete ass at Mickey Ds & was about the same as at home. a couple of stutters & brief res drops.
5g Mobile hotspot: My phone plan doesn't support it despite the phone having the feature, so could not play.
So in conclusion it is playable, but of course usable wi-fi isn't available everywhere & it still pales compared to a native port. Someone please smack Square & Disney over the head for this.

I wish they didn't name them "Cloud Version". It keeps making me think there's something extra in them with the character Cloud.

That was the name they used for Japan's version of the AIO, which included the three games (minus Re Mind of course since this was before 3 even released), a KH3 artbook, exclusive PS4 theme, and fancy box to hold it all in.

No, because the Switch can only output at 1080p docked and 720p handheld, and the games are being streamed so you have to have a good internet connection to get that level of quality.

Yes, a physical release for the Switch would mean better quality instead of relying on an internet connection for streaming.
Please, everyone do yourself a favor and don't buy this. It's not worth it and we should continue to express an interest in an offline edition of at least most of these games. After trying the EXTREMELY short demos I can say without a doubt.. it sucks.

The eternal catch 22 when it comes to 3rd parties on Nintendo consoles. If you buy the half-assed game they will make more half-assed games because they sell. If you don't they conclude that franchise doesn't sell on Nintendo and never tries again. It's a scenario where we cannot win.
See: Mass Effect 3 on Wii U in the same month for the same price as the whole trilogy on other platforms. Which EA has seriously cited as a reason they don't put out more games on Nintendo systems today.
I pray for a BBS/DDD tier game being announced soon as that'll probably be the only chance for a real KH experience on Switch.

BTW, the content of the demos is pretty shitty as well. 10-15 minutes from the start of each game when most of them have slow starts. What can you even get done in KH2 even if you're speedrunning it?

but funny enough if you don't skip any cutscenes for KH2 - the demo ends during a cutscene before actual gameplay lol

The barrier for entry just changes from a specific non-Switch console to a decent internet connection.
Actually, most people have a decent enough connection if they just replaced their ISP-issued routers with a decent one from Amazon. If it doesn't help, Amazon would take the router back no problem.

it's a good video, but they don't know that these games internally run at 60FPS. In KH1, there are specific places you can use 30FPS to do some tricks you normally can't. on switch it is 100% impossible to do the 30FPS tricks, and the only explanation is they "patched it" or it runs at 60fps.
Now, I highly doubt it was patched because since the switch runs off the PC version, it was unpatched on PC. They're not even well known maneuvers so basically the only explanation is that these games runs at 60FPS on a server but output to 30FPS on switch. due to it, I would imagine it would feel really weird to play the games.
The reason they chose 2/10 as the release date is because that's also the review score!

Look, 2.8 (for the Unreal Engine stuff on that) and III I can understand but they have absoutley no excuses for both 1.5 and 2.5 when they're PS2 games (PSP for BBS) and they could have run just fine.
That and you don't actually own the games since they're stuck to a server and need to be on the Internet all the time (this just straights up defeats the entire point of releasing it on the Switch) so once that server disappears off the face of the earth, then say goodbye to both your games and that exclusive keyblade that III has.

They probably weighed the factors of doing a native port (learning how to work with the Switch hardware, the time and manpower that would be required of development, etc) vs prioritizing the next big installment and decided the resources were better spent on the latter. Cloud versions massively suck but they are (I'm assuming) less costly to develop and would allow the team to quickly get all hands back on deck of their main project.
And unlike MS and Epic, Nintendo didn't make it worth their while so they could just take it or leave it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sad that the Switch tech is so crap.
I have an xbox one x and Google Stadia. I honestly play Stadia even when I have the same game on the xbox. Not only is it so convenient (I can be playing on my TV then instantly switch over to the phone/laptop if I need to leave the room or watch something on TV at the same time), but performance is flawless.
Server lag is fewer milliseconds than my TV's input lag. Which I think is simply astonishing from an engineering standpoint. I've tested them side by side on the same game and the cloud version is more responsive than the local Xbox. This is despite being connected via WiFi to an extender (which itself adds significant lag).
Listen man, the Switch is so inept, it doesn't even have IR! Something the ORIGINAL DS had. It makes playing pokemon in the same room with other people a ridiculous hassle, also, it's highered the bar of entry for competitive pokemon quite a lot (need to have a lan cable, need to pay for a Nintendo online subscription).
I feel safe in saying if it wasn't for Animal Crossing and the pandemic occurring at almost exactly same time I don't think the switch would be nearly as successful as it currently is.

So the Switch has Bluetooth capabilities but Nintendo had kept the feature off intentionally until fairly recently when they allowed Bluetooth audio through a software update.

so upon doing a bit of testing, it seems like KH2 is the PREPATCHED PC version of KH2. The same prepatch issues are in the game.

I did both these things....
In my defense, at least the ReMIXes came out on PS3--finally, Final Mix content!!!--so it wasn't a total waste (plus, the FFX and FFXII Remasters). This is why I'm waiting to buy the PS5 until FFXVI or the next KH game is out. Not making that mistake again.
I didn't buy a ps3 for it, I bought it b/c of other games, but the ReMIXes were a bonus..and I'm not buying a ps5 until I see three RPGs I like. Only one coming up right now, and well, I hope a KH game is one of them. ^^

In general playing KH1 for several hours via cloud on the switch, I found it to be stable if nobody else was using the Internet (even with an Ethernet cable) because any spike in latency even briefly will cause interruptions. I'd say yes it's totally playable, but I'm also on the hunt for a PS4 because I can't imagine playing this way regularly through all 10 games.

Now, new messages on the game selection screen warn you of any “server congestion” that the titles might be experiencing. If a game you want to play is currently dealing with busy servers, you can still try playing it, but it likely won’t be a great experience. While it’s nice to know before playing if a game will work properly, it’s also terrible that this even needed to be added in the first place and a solid example of why so many folks aren’t sold on streaming games via services like Stadia or Amazon Luna. That’s not to say it isn’t a useful or powerful technology; I think what Xbox is doing with its cloud streaming and Game Pass is awesome, letting you play fancy games like Gears 5 on a phone. However, Microsoft also lets you install all of its games, so if the servers are slow or you don’t want to deal with lag, you can just play a native version of the game on your local machine. (This is also very important for game preservation!) |

True, but I think their main point was if Nier Automata is getting a native port, why didn’t KH ?
Then again, this depends on what engine Nier is using to run on Switch. If it’s the same engine as KH3(Unreal), then I can see why the confusion. But if it’s running on a different engine compared to its contemporaries to accommodate for the Switch, that raises more questions.
Has anyone tried the Cloud versions? If so, how do they hold up? I'm curious lol
