Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMix Website Update!

After all the Jump Festa buzz, news is slowing down to a steady pace, but the action hasn't stopped!
The official KINGDOM HEARTS 1.5 HD ReMix website updated with the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix section getting brand new content all through it.
Information such as the story, characters, the worlds, the system gameplay and new features included in the game.
While most of the information has been previously announced to the public, the most notable addition to the site includes a comparision of the infamous Paopu Tree scene, which is available in both Standard Definition and the High Definition. Another note-worthy addition to the site is the presence of the inventory menu during gameplay when flying through the Gummi Ship. This addition, while available in the original Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, is new for the Western audience.
KINGDOM HEARTS 1.5 HD ReMIX releases on March 14th 2013 in Japan.

My eyes instantly darted to the circles within the irises of SKR. They were hardly noticeable outside of Nomura's concept art, but the clarity here is great. So yes, eyes, and particularly with the Tarzan render I noticed, nails, have received a buffing o' detail. :)

I was more wondering if I had just missed the better render at some point, but I don't see when they could have made it since Deep Jungle has only ever been in one game. I could definitely tell it was better than the original :P

The Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie ones are from Re: Coded I think.
And I'm not sure, I usually focused more on Riku in the foreground who looks pretty decent in this screen. Though I don't remember it being quite that jagged.

Just as they show a ton of jaggies in the SD picture that we don't really remember, you can be sure the smoothness of the HD pic won't be so accurate in game.
Wow, I didn't think there was that big of difference between the original KH1 and KHHD. It looks so much better! I'm so happy that SE decided to use new models and make everything look prettier~

I talked with a friend about it and we got "Junior Heroes".
The SD image was obviously not taken from the original KHFM because the models are exactly the same, it was just sampled down and resized (even to the wrong aspect ratio).

Anyone else think Square Enix should do a comparison trailer? I think that would work better than photos in comparing footage IMO.
It's an understatement to say that Riku has been given a complete make over for KH 1.5 ReMix and the more I look at how happy his new render makes me, the more I get sad when I look at the old one. The screenshot with Maleficent is a testament to that.
I wish they would update the music a little bit. Not re-arrange it, just update it. Real instruments where originally meant to be etc.
I really can't wait to get my mitts on this, the addition of trophies makes it even more alluring. :biggrin:

I think they mean real-instrument sampling, like update the soundfont of the game to the quality of BBS/3D, if you listen to the BBS version of Rage Awakened, the violins sampled are higher quality from that of KHII.

Hey shard of truth think you can provide more comparison pics between PS2, PCSX2 upresolutioned, and HD 1.5?
You can use software mode on PCSX2 to take the original PS2 pics. I also wasn't aware that KH was soundfont. I thought you can rip some of the tracks from the game?

That's from the original game, yes. But that's on PCSX2, while the SD image on 1.5's site is from the game on PS2. Which is what is what we're supposed to be comparing this remastering to.
PCSX2 does look better than normal PS2 though, but this HD remix still looks better.

Okay, I retract almost all of my previous statements, the SD image is not altered in any way, it's the HD image that is squeezed. I'm made two new images that are more closer to SE's comparison shots:

I'm not sure how the new models are implemented, if they use the some bone structure as the originals for example or if they are more different. But seeing how the clipping on Riku's arm folding was solved and how is hair fells differently, I think SE also remade the animations for these new models. I know for a fact that animation and model files are vastly different in KH and KHII with the former having much more restrictions, so they did a great job with overcoming them although it can't be expected they did this with all the models from the game (because that would be a lot of work).
Finally I'm not seeing how this new spice induced eyes are really any better than the originals.:tongue:

I know the DS games had soundfonts, because DS didn't have the ability or space on it's game carts to do looping tracks. The 3DS does have the ability and space though. Why did you leave out DDD? It didn't have soundfont music. But yeah at least we got the orchestrated tracks for 358/2 days and Re:code, but I have a feeling Square and Yoko did those in anticipation of 1.5 and 2.5 collection.
Does anyone think that KH2 should be part of the collection as well, or is that just me?
