For the first time in history, KINGDOM HEARTS is coming to PCs! Fans can look forward to picking up the following games exclusively on the Epic Games Store on March 30, 2021:
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX ($49.99)
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue ($59.99)
- KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind, comes with new Element Encoder Keyblade ($59.99)
- KINGDOM HEARTS Melody of Memory ($59.99)

i bought KH3 JP from PSN full price and KH3 NA and Re:Mind also full price. NGL, KH3 has been my favorites in the entire series aside from DDD so i wouldn't mind dropping that $60 again for the game and dlc

Honestly this is a big deal. Kingdom Hearts on PC is a gateway to more accessible and fun MODs. This can easily spark a second renaissance that will rival the 2006-2010 one.

in my case it works out because i post gameplay videos on youtube and stopped because i wanted to switch from PS to Xbox for better quality and was waiting to get the Series X so that my content can look better visually. now i can stream straight from my PC when it comes out and i have a good game card so i definitely cannot wait for this to release
also makes me wonder if they have a PC version on the next game sitting under wraps or if they'll get it out on console first then PC release in the future

It's amazing. I've been waiting for this for a long time. But I thought they would have waited for a next-gen version of kh3 with raytracing and bundle the whole thing with melody of memory as a 3.5 collection.
Or even make a dark seeker saga package.

No...I believe we can't unfortunately. Spockanort is now the forum's public enemy nº 1 for me.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise! I'm not a PC gamer (I play on PS5 and Switch mostly), but I think it's fantastic that the entire Kingdom Hearts series is coming to PC! I think this is an excellent opportunity for the series to reach more people. I also think it's fantastic for PC gamers who always wanted to play the games but didn't own a PlayStation or Xbox. I understand that some people are upset by the Epic Games exclusivity deal, and I get that. But from my perspective, I still think this is a wonderful move on Square Enix's part since PC gamers now actually have the official games available to them. I know they said they couldn't get all of the games to run on Nintendo Switch, but maybe it could still come to Switch at a later point too -- I think they could make it happen, especially considering how popular the Switch is in Japan. For now though, I'm personally just thankful that more people will get to experience Kingdom Hearts in March!

The Midnight Blue & Phantom Green keyblades are totally getting modded in anyway.

Ps4 got its own exclusive keyblade, xbox got one too and now pc is getting one, i think thats fair, each platform got their own exclusive keyblade so whats the issue....

I do not like epic games store and i too hope it will come to steam eventually but if it does not i might have to pull the trigger and just buy it on EGS, i really enyojed 1.5 and 2.5 collection at 60 FPS on ps4 and KH3 with unlocked framerate, KH3 wasnt able to hold 60FPS on PS4 (i think it was around 40-55 most of the time) so i cant wait to play them all again on 144HZ monitor, that is if these ports support anything higher than 60 FPS

The series going on to PC and being experienced by a larger group of people should be cause for celebration. Being annoyed that a single Keyblade will be stuck on PC is not the way to go.
And if it’s like any of the other pre-order Keyblades, it’ll be out of everyone’s equipment by Toy Box.

i think all the keys are on the store if you look for the dlc content. im pretty sure i saw that you can get the keyblade skins on the online store for $3 thats how i got my midnight blue skin, even though i didnt preorder on psn

So, bit of a pipe dream I've been meaning to ask about regarding the console versions, but these PC ports bring it to mind again:
PC ports show me they're clearly not done fiddling around with the Dark Seeker Saga collection, and MoM proved to me the resources are probably at Square's fingertips...
So, what are the odds we can toggle on some non-FM-colored enemies in 1.5+2.5???
On consoles, PC, any of the above? I don't want to wait for modders on the PC version...but I might go for this set for that opportunity alone.

Listen, I'm not sure why you're taking it so personally but I assure you that it's not that bad. It's a useless Keyblade that's a gesture of good faith. You're not entitled to it. You are not a better fan because you have a Playstation. I'm sorry if this is something that you tie your worth and identity to, but it's not real. Someday, all those things, the consoles and computers, are going to be dust in a landfill, and you'll have moved on to something else and these will be memories. You're ruining those memories for nothing.

It makes a lot of sense it being an Epic Exclusive since KH3 was made in UE4 and they got additional help from Epic. The relationship is already there plus Squade gets more money from Epic percentage wise (revenue share) than they would with Steam and they get an even better deal with KH3 since it's an unreal engine game. Also if you use a creator code with your purchase your favorite epic Creators (typically fortnite players) get a commission. This also for the consumer means if the exclusive ends it will get a heavily slashed price on Epic right before it ends and Steam has to launch it on sale to counter the fact that many pc users will have it and it'll be on sale on epic. This happened with both Borderlands 3 and Metro Exodous. Also maybe this relationship will lead to fortnite or rocket league collaborations in the future (though I play neither) which can bring new users to the genre. I just wish now they would give us a 358/2 remake with multiplayer and multiplayer for BBS since we have the capabilities now. Only thing that interests me about Steam is the Linux support and steam link to my Samsung tvs. Really excited for this though. Also the prices are pretty reasonable considering it's a completely new platform and not surprising at all considering all of Squares other pc ports. Hoping for switch next. Also really looking forward to seeing streamers play it for the first time and what the modding community does with it.

It's not an attack nor a betrayal. With how the gaming landscape has developed this is simply a logical move, to expand the userbase and make the game more accessible. Someone else getting something you already got does not take away from you. We fans don't have to own every release.
And the exclisive keyblade is a pointless reskin that adds nothing of value to the game. No one is really missing out without these dlc keyblades. They don't even have oroginal designs.
Mods are just a potential side effect of the platform not something Square Enix intended. From what I hear the store they are selling through will likely make modding a pain so it might be more muted than expected.

I believe you are grossly overestimating its hardware requirements. The game was originally designed for the PS4, which is essentially the same technology as a mid-range PC from about 8 years ago. Changes are, you already have something at least comparable to that.
Meanwhile, I'm thinking how well it will run on my current Windows computer, which is mostly from year 2008...

If your initial reaction to other systems getting the game you like is negative because it's not only yours anymore, then you frankly don't deserve much of anything. It's such an incredibly selfish, obnoxious and melodramatic response to opening the series up to new players and possibilities, that I want to believe you're just hamming it up. But being somewhat familiar with some of your other posts, I have to assume you're serious.
"The PC gamers will get the memories"? What does that even mean? Your memories? They're not snatching something away from you, they get to make their own memories by experiencing it for the first time. Mods aren't something essential to the experience, nice as some of them will be, and the exclusive Keyblade is literally a reskin of another Keyblade, which will function combat-wise just as its twin and the Star Seeker recolours do: i.e. it'll have Second Form -insert initial here- as its Formchange with maybe slightly different stats and nothing else. You aren't missing much by not having it, certainly nothing worth making such a fuss over, and anything you're "suffering" from is purely self-induced.
Also, half of the original games' releases were on Nintendo handhelds, since Chain of Memories; coveting PS exclusivity is something long since dead.
But onto the actual topic: I'm pretty excited for this! The price is rough, to be sure, and while I would prefer to have them on Steam with the rest of my games, I'm not surprised or wholly against it being exclusive to and buying from EGS. Though I am aware of some of their faults, and the problems that a great many people have with them. Part of me wants to wait and see if they ever move to Steam, but another part of me wants to just bite the bullet and at least buy 1.5+II.5, which is the only one aside from MoM that I'm confident my computer could run. Maybe the other games, but I'm somewhat doubtful. But it's also the one I don't mind paying the price for; I'd prefer to wait for a sale or price drop for the rest.
Mods I'm eager to see are honestly quality-of-life ones, and ones that fix some of the things that Square hasn't over the years, like the 1.5+II.5 missing audio bugs. A toggle between 30FPS and 60FPS would be nice for people who don't mind or prefer the former, though I question how easy or hard it would be to do. I'd also be only too happy to see someone re-insert Roxas' KH2 battle quotes, and swap the Absent Silhouette English battle quotes for their Japanese ones (which is my personal preference). I wonder if the 2FM randomizer could be easily converted to function with this PC port?

You are having a literal breakdown over a release of a game that makes the series more accessible to people. You aren’t owed anything, my dude.
Why would you need to even spend that much on a computer? These games will run just fine on your average PC. You are grossly overestimating the sort of PC build you’d need to run the games on.
The game is probably going to have all sorts of anti-piracy crap on it that will make it an absolute pain to mod. Mods are fan-made, not something sanctioned by SE. People have already been ripping and messing around with the games for years now on their own computers by fiddling with the code for fun. SE nor Disney are going to outright allow people to mod KH, a Disney game intended for children. We just know that it’ll happen because nothing remains uncracked these days.
Seriously, what is going on with you? This isn’t some attack against you. This is meant to make the series more accessible for millions of people who wouldn’t be able to play KH otherwise. It’s not that serious. You aren’t getting left out of something (besides the audio which is a valid complaint and something worth addressing). You haven’t been cheated out of money. The pre-recorded cutscenes won't be improved. If they didn't do it during the multiple ports (and exports in the case of 358 and coded) then it's unlikely they're going to do it now.

To be honest, I'd like to see the damage floor (the minimum amount of damage you can do to bosses and enemies in worlds) raised significantly. Osaka Team really didn't bother with this in KH3 at all, making Level 1 Crit a boring war of attrition and link spam. What's funny is that the damage scaling is really good in the Limit Cut and Secret episodes, but they never fixed up the maingame. Nothing fun about fighting Sköll for twelve minutes.

This was certainly big news. I'm not a PC gamer and the prices certainly are high, but this is great news for Kingdom Hearts. My sister is much more of a PC gamer then a console one. I had to force her to play the PS4 for Kingdom Hearts 3 last year. This will give her the perfect chance to get back into the series. I also am looking forward to seeing what the mods will do for KH3. It's going to be a fun wild time and I'm excited to see what craziness we get. Who said 2021 is going to be a slow Kingdom Hearts year? Looks pretty active to me :P

Cheesus crust what the hell is wrong with you, being so dramatic over a SINGLE freaking keyblade being exclusive to PC, there is exclusive keyblade for xbox and exclusive one for playstation i dont see how its unfair that PC gets one too
Also mods are UNOFFICIAL and not something advertised or even supported by square enix and there are even mods already for PS4 version of KH3 if you have modded PS4....

Literally the only things PC will have over consoles are a single keyblade RESKIN, japanese audio and better resolution and performance, nothing is being taken away from you, you will still have your PS4 version and they arent taking away anything from that version by releasing it on pc, and PC version wont dissapear, you will always be able to buy it when you get a PC capable of running it

Not only will people who already played the games on consoles be able to play the again with stable framerates but also many new players who have not yet been able to enjoy KH series will now finally be able to enjoy it and that will only increase the fanbase so i really dont see why PC release would be a bad thing and a single freaking keyblade reskin being exclusive to one platform is really not really a big deal

Watching days and recoded cutscenes on 4K tv was awful, they are so low resolution

I would guess that II.8 and KH3, and maybe MoM would simply have an uncapped framerate, allowing for any refresh rate people could really want.
1.5+II.5, at least speaking for KH1 and KH2, would likely break completely above 60fps, because the physics are tied to the game's framerate, as seems to have been relatively common for games at the time. Just getting 60fps to work was likely a hassle that took a lot of engine tweaking, as upon the initial PS4 release there were a number of instances of broken physics (like KH1 Sephiroth's meteors flying twice as fast as they were supposed to), and a few minor instances still exist even after several patches. Applying a 60fps hack to an emulated version of the games shows the results more directly by jumping or knocking enemies into the air with Upper Slash, Finishing Leap or Guard Break: you jump/enemies fly half as high, and fall twice as fast.
I don't expect Re:CoM or BbS would be constrained in the same way - Re:CoM's debug menu even has a 60fps toggle - but I couldn't say for certain, the same going for 3DHD. I don't know if they could instate game-by-game frame limits, but it'd be kind of neat. MoM is likely fine, being built on Unity (I think that's right, anyway? I heard that somewhere).

Having uncapped framerate in kh3 and 0.2 would be enough for me, i know that kh1 and 2 had game logic and physics locked to framerate so i really dont expect anything more than 60
When it comes to keyboard and mouse controls i really hope they do it right, mouse and keyboard are my perfered input devices for gaming, i only use controller when i have to
Persona 4 golden on pc had akward camera controls on with mouse and keyboard so i had to use ps4 controller but some other games like for example FFXV had decent support for mouse and keyboard, not perfect but usable so i hope its the same or better for KH

It will probably release on steam eventually, all EGS exclusives were timed exclusives
I dont think square enix will support modding officialy so even on steam there probably wont be steam workshop for KH but people will most likely be editing game files directly which should be possible on EGS too

Tbh from what I've read online it seems the biggest issue people have is that they're not steam.

I believe some of it stems from Epic Games being partially - roughly 40% - owned by the Chinese company Tencent, who themselves are quite controversial for several reasons. Their conduct in situations such as this, with their focus on timed exclusivity deals, is also a common criticism; especially early on when developers were suddenly making their games timed exclusives on EGS weeks before their release on platforms like Steam.

1) It's not steam (literally, not memeing). Keeping everything in one DRM facility is far superior to having multiple POA to your billing info. If something gets leaked/stolen from steam of course it can be dispersed through the (dark) web but I prefer to keep my info in one block for the time being. Having an acc for EGS, then one for GOG, then one for Steam, then one for Origin, then one for this and that...it's so tedious and unsafe.
2) Locked down system means official mod support is probably not going to happen and unofficial mod support would be delayed. I know, even if it released on Steam Disney and SE were not likely to release mod tools or anything of the sort...but a quicker Steam release means PC players would really get to the content that matters quicker (i.e. whacky stages, integrating ReMIND toolsets, characters, and stats into base game, etc).

It’s PS vs Xbox for PC gamers.
But also it’s very nuanced. PC gamers didn’t want to have to use separate accounts for different games. The appeal of Steam was that you could get the majority of PC games through one single service.
Also, EGS came out as a form of competition against Steam because Epic Games likes money. They also have tons of money they can throw at developers to secure exclusives, which people feel is unethical and limits accessibility for people who might not want to support Epic Games.

This argument also stands against Disney (see Mulan "remake"). But that's more small time personal boycott than it is a problem with EGS specifically.
Basically many folks love free-market monopolies when it's convenient but hate the free market when that convenience is threatened.

That's true if you look at it from a money perspective and not a user experience perspective. I'm not against steam getting broken up...if I still got my games from one central platform. I don't buy PC to download sixteen game hubs then download separate game exes. it's tedious.
same idea about netflix having properties that hulu doesn't. for ex (I dont konw if this is true IRL) imagine I wanted to watch rocket power season 1 and 2 but netflix had s1 and hulu had s2. from user experience it is constant swapping its not good for me. and of course the risk of my payment details getting leaked increases

Maybe we discover more unused content now that its getting released on PC, there is a software called universal unreal engine 4 unlocker that works with almost any UE4 game and it allows to re-enable dev console in games that dont have it and even stuff like freezing game and using free camera and removing HUD, similar to Nvidia Ansel for FFXV on PC, it will be interesting messing with it in KH3 and 0.2
Remove HUD is going to be god tier for data fights. Or cinematic boss trailers. I'm actually extremely hyped. One question though: are EGS games moddable? Like...

Yea I was pining for a PS5 but this announcement made me say screw that. I'll wait until June/July when they invariably go on summer sale but I am defo getting 1.5+2.5 and 3FM. I kinda want to get 2.8 but it just doesn't feel necessary. I miss the PA4 fight but DDD is not one of my favorites.

Another mod idea: Being able to switch Sora and Riku's versions of their Fantasia segments so they can run around in the other's map.

If the data hasn't been removed then it's possible to see a lot more than what we've seen before. I had wondered if maybe there was some leftover data in Re Mind of the world that was cut ?
For my part I dont want to buy it on EGS, because I prefer having everything under one roof. I can't do this for every case, but try to do so. Also, atleast for teh beginning - later than that I dont know - the EGS was supposed to be not safe and lacking functions. Until now I never was interested in any of their exclusive games, so I never read more into it.
(for the time when its coming hopefully on Steam), I'm most excited about the Data fights, where I managed to not spoiling myself on any of these (exceptions being the music and the Secret Boss).

Their exclusivity deal won’t last forever I’m sure. At some point we’ll be having this same hoopla when they announce it on Steam in 1-2 years. It’s fishy to me that they announced this port for EGS to release in March during the 19th year of KH. Just sounds like lead up to a Steam announcement for the 20th anniversary.

Not really? Getting to win a boss battle.igm gameplay doesnt mean the story will aknowledge it as a win. After these supposed fights, things would go on the same way, SDG getting pushed from a mountain, Sulley throwing Vanitas through doors, Marluxia disappearing etc

To answer your question...I dunno. But considering how some people are waiting for the PC versions to get cracked I guess too much tedium and annoyance at getting through the blockades so its better to leave everything to those sailing the internet seas with colors hoisted.

If anything, I'd say that the fact that they're still fiddling with KH3 means that PS5/XboxSeX upgrades are very likely. There might be a chance that Nomura and crew would want to pour a little sugar on top, first. HD rumble on PS5, maybe some heartless recolors... I know I need more incentive to triple dip after the PC version.

Never say never, but it seems like pre-MoM was the perfect time to do it. There might be a slight resistance on Square's part to do so, since KH3 on Switch is never, ever gonna happen.

Not likely at all. TBH everything except 0.2 and 3 could easily go to Switch - MoM proves this - but SE literally hates Nintendo and free money if it isn't absolutely guaranteed to make millions

Pre-KH3 was the perfect time for XB1 ports, timeliness is not a strong suit of this series.
There's always the option of a cloud version for KH3 like Control and Hitman did. Not ideal but it's something.

The witcher3 got released on switch. But it would require a lot of optimization. Not sure they are willing to spend that much energy to do it.

That would be awesome for a number of reasons. It'd be a huge win for everyone, and add even more sales onto KH3's already astronomical amount.
On the subject of allowing it to be a 'cloud access' game like Hitman, that unfortunately wouldn't work at all for a game like KH3. The amount of quick, visual effects are bitrate destroying, even on non-interactive Youtube videos and streams. One Waterza and your Switch screen will be a mess.

A 1070 is recommended to run KH3 and 0.2 probably (it is likely to get graphics quality options which is DOPE asf) but it definitely won't be q for the other games. A 1050 could run them easy

For me:
- I really would like proper hd movie cutscenes for com, days and re:coded, because it is extremely aliased. This is ok on tv, but for pc, the screen is much closer, people might scream.
- Also theater mode for kh1 should not be available from the beginning. you need to clear the game at least
- Kairi artwork in kh3 should only appear after you clear the main game, not wether or not you own the remind dlc, otherwise it will spoil the game for newcomers
- new abilities from remind should be added progressively to the game and not after the credits roll and you reload your save. this feels too much like an afaterthought (which it clearly was)
At least, that's what I would expect if the games are full price.
On a side note, EGS is supposedly getting close to properly launching its achievement system. Perhaps it'll launch alongside the KH series?

Well, you'll be in for a treat then. The difference between emulators and hd remix is quite good. You won't have to suffer from the pixelated menus anymore.
I emailed Square asking about the KH3 FPS, and they told me that the minimum requirements are for 720P 60FPS.

The mouse is used to rotate the camera. Which is crazy on KH1. Remember that the camera is stiff as hell. Well not anymooore.

Apparently Epic doesn't even allow those third party drivers to work with KH as far as I've seen by a few Dualshock 4 PC gamers.

Basically the 1.5+2.5 "game" is like a container. Each game is played inside but the options are linked to the container 1.5+2.5. So options are not part of the actual game. Makes sense right? No? Anyone?...

So for the moment it's a big plus for the pc port. Controls are smooth with the mouse attached to the camera even in kh1 (which I didn't believe at first).
However, BIG THUMBS DOWN for the audio language settings in 1.5+2.5 and 2.8. Unlike kh3 and mom, you cannot enable japanese voices.
So far these ports are ok. The real problem is no mods as of yet. We seriously need KBG to be modded into a full world, as well as Org fights in Disney worlds. In fact....I would love to see the current KBG fights to be the Disney world fights, the Limit Cut fights to be KBG fights, and then we get super data battles.

DsHidMini with DS4Windows. I'm one of Nefarius's beta testers. This is the first one of his recent projects..and this time it's teaming with someone else..that actually WORKS reliably for me without having to go with something messier and older. /cough /cough SCPToolkit /cough /cough . Be warned though; getting that working isn't hard but it's not for the faint of heart. (And before you guys ask, despite the name it works fine with my original, never synched to a console to avoid funny business DS3.)
Just a warning, I don't know if this is the same for this, but for most Square games (I'm looking at you, you FF games on Steam, and also FFXIV) but most of them really prefer to see a Xbox controller or a controller that's actually made for a PC, not a DS3 or 4. Even with official drivers. That makes things pretty difficult, so you have to go with third party solutions. I can promise tho if you wanna try what I use, Nef does good stuff and he's never done me wrong, just his stuff had trouble sticking though a reboot sometimes, but that's beta stuff for you and maybe I just have a weird config. So, YRMV. Tho yar, I much much prefer controllers that were made for consoles for frugality reasons; console controllers are made to take a serious beating, so they are more worth your money if you really need a PC controller, and for PC controller newbies, I would highly recommend the Xbox ones b/c they're easy to set up, but try them out if you can first since if you're like me, you go with what feels good in your hands!

You can name your finishers in BBS so technically you could rename say Rhythm Mixer's finish command to Pay Respects...
really liking KB+M for KH1, it really helps a lot with the camera. You can turn and mess with it much easier than on a controller and I think the KB+M controllers are pretty good.

How does it go when the camera encounters a wall? I remember it was kh1 kryptonite.
Best question for yall...is KH3 unlocked frame rate actually worth $47.99? I've done everything in the game like 5 times already (A rank pro codes, all ez codes, Kingdom Hearts III Master, and so on)..
Another good part about this? More blind playthroughs.

Mind you, if the game were to be poreted to another platform, it would be optimized for it as much as possible so these videos aren't 100% reflective of how it would actually look.
update on oblivion, you must be using English voices and clear the game to unlock it. JP voices are glitched and it won't let you get the proof for Oblivion.

So, I have found one myself. MagiKat released the last part of her blind playthrough of KH1 tonight. She does complain a lot (I mean, enough that it deserves to be turned into a meme :LOL: ), but plays actually really well. This is definitely one of the better ones out there.
