Indeed it is, and It's interesting that they meet Rapunzel and Flynn when she got out of the tower. Also glad we got to hear English voice acting for the first time and also hearing Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as Rapunzel Flynn Rider. In addition, SDG entering the area to Rapunzel's Tower actually has changed drastically compared to the original scene back at the E3 2015 trailer. It's a good reason why Nomura withheld the world until just this year.

The scenes are pretty much copy-paste from the film. I love how gorgeous they look and how they got the accuracy right, but it does feel a bit like KH2, where it was just the film at points with SDG in the background.

Marluxia still shows up, though. I hope he gets involved with the Tangled plot rather than briefly showing up in the world on the side and then vanishing.

Ah, I wasn't expecting much of anything so this was a nice surprise. This really does seem to be the world thats exactly like the movie but with SDG thrown in, at least at first. Maybe Marluxia will mix that up more. I do love that scene of Rapunzel's conflicting feelings lol, so its fun to see it.

Well yes, time was one of the things I meant. Though both have been voicing these characters in the show now. So its not like they haven't done it since the movie.

Different voice direction is all. Voicing for a video game is very different acting than voicing for a movie. Part of why Jasmine sounds so...off in KH2, among other examples.

I don't watch the new Tangled show, but it's not unlikely that Mandy and Zachary have slightly altered and matured their takes on Rapunzel and Eugene over the course of the show's development.

Also, someone on Reddit pointed out that some of the Japanese and English scenes look much different. The lighting and character models are much better in the Japanese version. I always figured those things would be the same in both versions.

I'd say they are different because there is dynamic lighting and rendering and not because they are developed at different times. The Japanese footage does not have falling leaves or butterflies in the scene when Rapunzel is freaking out, but the English one does.

When it comes ot Gummy ships traditionally they do kind of reveal elements of the Disney Movie they represent. So a water/lava gummi ship sequence could definitely suggest Atlantis or Agrabah.

That lava cave gave me a bit of hope. It's the only section that looks outta place, like you can't just randomly place in any of the current world missions. Imagine going through Tangled's mission and it's trees and bang..random lava cava..wat!?

As much as I'd be underwhelmed by one of the most boring Disney movies being KH represented, I suppose Atlantis would be a pretty fun world to explore gaming-wise.

This is neat. I'm glad they didn't show Gothel or more of Marluxia, since the game is so near release. Some surprises need to be kept until launch.

There's really only one gripe I'm having with the look of the trailer. When you watched the trailer and then compare it to the film, you have this scene where Rapunzel rolls into her hair, down a hill. This looks so un-finished in the game footage. The grass isn't even interacting with her model.
I just hope they don't recreate too much footage from the film. Cause in one way, it makes it look a lot more difficult to appreciate the unreal engine. And it makes it look like video games will not be able to animate believable grass until the late 2020s. And some of those fish faces (Ugh). I'm aware I'm being critical, but I'm not taking it that serious. Just used to high quality games pushing their limits. Can you blame?

The Orchestra trailer? Yeah, but that didn't didn't have any cutscenes save for the Maleficent and Pete one looking for the box. I think with the recent screens we got of Olympus and TT we could have a trailer dedicated to that as well.

Not a lot. When KH2 came out, most fans had no idea what would happen in the game beyond the very basics of the early plot. It was a pleasant surprise compared to the games that followed where they essentially spoiled everything ahead of time.

Who knows, it seems that the background when Sora dodged the Reaper nobody, is actually the same exact area when Marluxia arrived and meet SDG back in the Monsters Inc. trailer. I don't know how it will go in the game but I have a hunch that after defeating the groups of Heartless that's when the Reaper Nobodies arrived which leads to Sora tells Flynn to take Rapunzel and Flee and SDG will fight and defeat the Reaper Nobodies, after Sora defeats them he ask "Come on Out you "Has-Beens"." which is where Marluxia arrives and meets them.

Though I don't mind being spoiled in this aspect, as what exactly the worlds are never inherently mattered to me. KH1 already represented most of my favorite Disney movies on some level (Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Little Mermaid), so that aspect hasn't been significant to my interests since.
To put it another way, doesn't matter what the world is, it's what ya do with it!
And I'll certainly do well to avoid this forum as the release date approaches, at risk of being spoiled the ending or whatever.

Even though Tangled, Frozen, and Pirates are the only films that are doing an alternate take of the plot of the film in the game, I doubt their worlds are going be like KH2 all over again as the Disney worlds are becoming more connected to the KH plot and don't act as unnecessary filler since you got the Organization members causing trouble in some of the Disney worlds

Plus it still is surprising why many people say that ALL the Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts II are following the plot of the movie when ONLY it's just Mulan, Lion King, Little Mermaid and Pirates that did as the rest of the Disney worlds such as Olympus, Halloween Town, Beast's Castle, Space Paranoids, etc.. are unrelated to the actual film and are clearly original stories and serve as a connection to the KH plot particularly the latter two.




I agree, along with hearing more English dialogue from the Hercules characters, cutscenes as well as listening to the field/battle theme of Olympus for the first time.


Technically Pirates of the Caribbean is merely an Ocean environment with Islands here and there I doubt you would consider it a Jungle area.

In the TGS gameplay footage during the Gummy Ship gameplay, if you look carefully at 6:13 there is not only Lava but Crystals. And what Disney movie involves Crystals and Lava?

Now Crystals are an important part of the film Atlantis, though I don't recall any purple crystals as the crystals featured in the film were a translucent blue color. I'd be interesting if it's Atlantis, but I'd be surprised if this area is for one of the other Disney worlds your traveling to in the game.

Pirates does have underwater stuff. So they may be combining those world types. Also keep in mind these levels are way longer than they used to be, way bigger too.

Lol it's not irrelevant, the titans are the biggest threat of the movie. We don't know that there wouldn't be a section that has a tornado, rocks, or ice hazards yet either. I highly doubt they'd pick Atlantis as a world, as much as we all want it.



I'm not spockanort but I'm also a fan of Atlantis and there aren't any purple crystals. Blue was the color of choice for that movie. If they did pick Atlantis, I don't think they'd go off of the failed sequel/tv series either.

I don't think anyone can deny this route looks oddly really accurate to what's in Atlantis tho. Lava, lava pools, a cave like path like before Atlantis..a blue crystal! Yeah one is purple but that can just be a gummi route thing.

Yeah, I feel almost like they'd do that too. I still don't understand why everyone's calling them Princesses since all they said were Pure Hearts, but there are other characters they could use from KH that could be pure. Aerith could be, since they might not abandon the Leon crew entirely. Yuffie doesn't feel fitting for the role imo. Then there's Olette, she may have wielded a spike bat in the manga but it was to protect Kairi. They could always grab Elizabeth Swann, Tia Dalma, Honey Lemon, Gogo, Jesse (weird for a toy to be picked though), Boo (also strange for a little girl), Celia, and/or Megara (likely for her willingness to sacrifice herself for Hercules but unlikely because she made a deal with Hades).



I mean, I WANT Atlantis, I love the movie. I wanted Treasure Planet (unlikely because of Treasure Island rights?) and Black Cauldron too. I'm just worried that they may not have anymore worlds to reveal, other than Winnie the Pooh because of that asset leak.

Also, I don’t think the color of the crystals makes much difference since I think the blue crystals were from the main crystal itself. So they may have just done purple ones for a crystal aesthetic without making it seem like the Atlantean crystals were accessible anywhere but the primary source, is that makes sense. Or we’re getting a Crash Bandicoot world!

As far as Disney worlds go, I can’t say I’m not nervous that we may not have more. But if there weren’t any left to reveal, I would think they would disclose that information so fans don’t get let down when there aren’t anymore revealed.

Disney worlds aside how many original worlds are left. I'm worried Radiant Garden isn't returning as a playable world. Which means we won't see Leon and the gang again.

Imagine the princess saying either (Rapunzel or Elsa) "I'm going to be in a video game with a boy wielding a key" Valnelope could be like "sounds fun, count me in" and drop the trailer on Thanksgiving. I could be very wrong but why wait this long if its just going to be a world in union cross. Announcing it in the movie will be a great marketing move but its just my feeling.

Corrupted crystals is a cool concept! Since the crystals are extensions of the heart of Atlantis, maybe the HoA is corrupted by darkness or something?

I noticed in the trailer there was a heartless that looked eerily similar to noble woman, with the hat and corset. Almost looked kind of New Orleans in design? Possibly a heartless we meet in a potential bayou world maybe?

Yeah that seems to be more an early 20th century aesthetic and not so much like what we see characters wearing in Tangled. Hmm.

Tbh that heartless just made me think about Mary Poppins. We know that property isn’t in, but referencing the character through a Heartless would be neat.

PLUS, the lava section is connected to the previous crystal-ish area shown in the gameplay (before it cuts to the lava section you can see an orange tunnel) since in both the clips the gummiship reached level 10/the enemies power level is 10, and since in the Kingdom Of Corona gummiship section we fight a sun sized ship at level 15 and in the frozen section (the one with the castle and giant snow flakes) the level showcased is 16 we can theorize that an Atlantis world (or whatever level represents the lava area) could be the first in the middle section of worlds, Tangled could be the second world in that section, Frozen the third, followed by Pirates as the first of the 3rd section (as it was the first that was showcased and some cutscenes were still unpolished, like the one where the characters’ facial expressions make them look like fishes lol, makes me think that they wanted to showcase a world from the final section and since they had to finish the cutscenes for the other 2 they showed us the Caribbean), a world that we haven’t seen yet as the second and Big Hero 6 as the final Disney world.
Also, since the lava gummiship section indicates LEVEL 10 we can also theorize that it isn’t from Olympus, since it would indicate level 1-3, also, we can assume that the order for the first section will be:
- Olympus
- Twilight Town
- Toy Box
- Monstropolis
The only world that could have a level 10 gummiship section is Monstropolis, but the Monstropolis gummiship section we’ve seen in the E3 trailer has nothing to do with Crystals and Lava section we’ve seen in trailers and TGS gummiship gameplay.

I don’t know, to be honest to me it just seems a reference to Gothel, but could be anything!

More than anything, it reminds me of the costumes from the musical “Hello, Dolly!” with the big hats, gloves, and all. That’s set around 1900, so maybe it’s inspired by a Disney film set in that period like Mary Poppins? As for PatF, the women in that film wore more Flapper inspired clothing.

If he chose to refuse, it's not a big deal since James Arnold Taylor would be the next in line for the role and he's awesome. Michael J. Fox must be offered the role, though, and they would be legally required to accommodate him if he accepted the role.

He's done quite a number of voice acting roles over the years, actually. What happened with Milo's Return was a mix of him being more focused on pushing for research into Parkinson's and him being too expensive for a budget "sequel". With all of the medical advances made over the years, he has ways of easing the issues of his Parkinson's now.

For something like KH...I could see Michael J. Fox returning if he really wanted to.

That is if Atlantis was even in KH3.

Good Eye and analysis, I had a feeling that Arendelle looks to be the third world you visit in the middle set since in the TGS Big Hero 6 trailer Larxene confirmed to SDG that they found their 13th Member. Another thing is that SDG didn't look as confused when they are meeting Larxene when compared to Marluxia in Kingdom of Corona.

Me too I have no issue if the original actor comes back due to scheduling issues or that they are VERY high in demand (e.g. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Matthew Broderick, Eddie Murphy, John Goodman) as long as the sound alike actor sound very reminicent to the original actor from the movie.

To be honest I'd say the actors who voiced the Hunchback characters in Dream Drop Distance (e.g. Quasimodo, Phoebus, etc..) and the ones who are voicing Woody, Buzz, Mike, Sulley and Jack Sparrow in Kingdom Hearts III do a good job voicing the characters and on top of that they sound very reminiscent to the original actors from the films so I don't see any differences if you ask me.

Scar's voice actor in Kingdom Hearts II on the other hand.....not so much.

Regarding who would voice Milo if Atlantis is in KH3, I'd say James Arnold Taylor and he does a good job being a good sound alike actor for Michael J. Fox.


That would be an interesting idea, perhaps either the Heartless or someone (the Seeker/Organization Member of this world) is responsible for corrupting the crystal turning them into the Dark Purple color as seen in the TGS gameplay footage.

I also watched the Japanese version after the English trailer but I was unaware of that specific Heartless until you showed it to me right now, sorry about that.

We are probably going to see the new PoH gathered together late in the game so chances are she will be abducted by Marluxia after Gothel's defeat.

I think she'll be kidnapped after reviving Eugene. Marluxia will see that she can still heal with her tears and realize she still has an extremely powerful light within her.

(that way we get a scene where Sora brings her back and then Eugene takes her to her parents and then Tangled: The Series begins~~~)

I think SDG (or maybe just Sora) went up there prior to Rapunzel and Flynn coming out. You’d think Rapunzel would be on edge like she was with Flynn in the film if this was the first time she’d seen SDG. Maybe she’s just too excited to notice them, but idk.

Also, I still want a lantern scene recreation where Sora thinks about the person he cares for most.

In terms of Marluxia making his entrance after watching the latest trailer I have a hunch that after battling the groups of Heartless the Reaper Nobodies arrived which leads to Sora telling Flynn to take Rapunzel out of here thus leaving SDG in fighting the nobodies. After Sora defeats them he ask "Come on Out you "Has-Beens"." which is where Marluxia arrives and meeting the trio.

Some of the scenes from the new trailer and the previous trailers we got seem to match how this scene will play out in the actual game but that's just me:

I really hope they start making short trailer for each world including its world logo like this one and release it weekly at Saturday until Jump Festa. That would be 7 world trailers and then at Jump Festa, they would reveal the final Disney world. It's perfect.

He did. Both him and Yasue have said that the team has done their best work in trying to recreate that scene and fans will be happy to see it.

In all seriousness I would love it if the lantern festival was a FMV cutscene. They did it with the fireworks in FF13 and that was the first thing to come to mind when imagining Tangled's lanterns in KH3

Whoa, that timing really would be perfect. The order could be Corona, Olympus, Toy Box, Monstropolis, Arendelle, Caribbean, San Fransokyo, followed by the last world at Jump Festa. Even though we’ve seen scenes from all of them, this could be our look at them in their final product forms. It’s a really cool idea and it would make sense of why they included the title card, which has never been done. I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up though.




I think if nothing else, we’ll get an amazing orchestra version from Shimomura.

For realsies, though, I would actually love seeing him there for his own reasons. The lanterns rising are reminiscent of the all the keyblade wielders hearts floating to the sky during the Keyblade War. With Marluxia being from the Chi era, I could see him thinking about that time or having memories trigger if he doesn't remember anything from then.

I didn't have Strelitzia in mind when making the joke, but that would make sense :)

I like your idea of the lantern's reminding Marluxia of his past. It would further integrate him into the film's plot and make him feel like a natural part of it. Now I'm really hoping he attends.

I think an instrumental version of that song could be gorgeous. But since they said they're going to play Let it Go during the Frozen world I think it could have a chance.

It’s possible, and I highly doubt Mena Suvari would return. Aerith may be voiced by Andrea Bowen (Crisis Core/FF Explorers) who did a fantastic job in my opinion.

It seems we have different recollections of the last few months of 2005.

I cannot really prove what I remember, since apparently none of the post TGS 2005 trailers I remember are accessible on YouTube. So it’s up to you whether you want to believe my 13 year old memories, but here goes:

E3 2005: First English gameplay footage was recorded of the demo booths – OC, Hades Escape to Cerberus boss. The trailer shown was a disappointment for those of us who had seen all trailers up to that moment, as the only new shot was an extra two or three seconds of Gummi Ship, first trailer in half a year and nothing new. Banners advertising KHII revealed the first Organization member not from CoM – Xaldin. There were a couple of reports about a behind-closed-doors trailer, supposedly with English dialogue and ending in a dark city with Sora charging at a cloaked person surrounded by Nobodies.

Every following month a new Org member was revealed, first up was Demix, oh sorry Demyx. Then there was a Playstation meeting of some sort featuring a new trailer. I think it was Gamespot who released the last 30 seconds of that trailer back in the day. I downloaded it and watched it obsessively. It featured Another Side and showed a few new things, and ended with the clip from the E3 behind-doors trailer of Sora charging at the unknown person. This was the first trailer (released at least) that didn’t use 光–Orchestral Edition – man I grew tired of that song, and honestly I still haven’t accepted it since then…

Shortly before TGS Ruksodo, or Luxord, was revealed. The TGS 2005 trailer was the first, public, trailer to have voice-over. I remember how shocked I was when I watched it the first time. Many had suspected BHK (Blond Haired Kid), very recently announced to be called Roxas, to be playable, and this trailer confirmed that suspicion. By this point, I think the only Disney worlds not announced were Pride Lands and Space Paranoids.

Then sometime in the autumn another trailer, very much in the style of the TGS one, was released. I haven’t seen this one in years, but some of the things I clearly remember include:
• Opening with Roxas floating in a black void with a voice-over saying some things the fantranslators translated as “I’ve been having these weird thoughts lately. Like is any of this for real or not?”, but this line is not in KH2 so maybe it was just for the trailer, or the translator goofed?
• Saïx doing his “Pitiful Heartless…” speech
• Reveal of Master Form
• SDG surrounded by Heartless, with Sora saying “Maybe all we’ve done, maybe it was all for nothing. If I can’t use the Keyblade, then what am I supposed to do?”
• Sora kneeling before an org member (Saïx) wishing to be let into the Realm of Darkness
• Ending with the reveal of Xemnas

By the end of November we knew twelve members of Org XIII, we knew there was one more, but not who. Most I talked to suspected Roxas due to the KHI secret videos. In other KHII news, we had been given a gift in the form of a Music Video, with Utada’s newest single Passion.

Now my memory of December 2005 is quite fuzzy compared to the rest of the year. We had some leaked screenshots, revealing the thirteenth member as Roxas in a Black Coat. Then at Jump Festa a final ‘Launch’ trailer was released just days before the game. This trailer used the Opening version of Passion, (which I distinctly remember because ‘Xaldin’, who was a moderator here at the time, mentioned how he enjoyed the electric remix in the middle of the song) but I don’t remember much else from the trailer, other than it ended like many later KH trailers do. By flashing 20 different scenes in 5 seconds. Of those many clips I distinctly remember Sora meeting Kairi, Xemnas in the ‘ruined’ Kingdom Hearts, and “Ansem is back!?!?”. I believe this trailer also confirmed the return of Maleficent, or otherwise the previous one did, likewise one of the two also had a scene with Yen Sid talking, and Sora stretching out his hand to summon the Keyblade.

The only major thing I remember not being revealed before release, was the status of Riku (I think his voice was heard in a tv-ad, but that's it). Of course that also depends on your definition of major things. Xemnas’ weapons were never shown, so who the Enigmatic Man (yeah that’s what we called him back in ye olde days) was, was left unknown. DiZ was also left a mystery, maybe his face was shown in the last couple of seconds of the Jump Festa trailer, but his wasn’t a face we would recognize anyway.

Again these are my memories of what happened 13 years ago, so take it as you will.




Honestly I have had a lot of flashbacks to KHII's production period with the way KHII trailers have been represented throughout 2018, for me this has been more similar to KHII than any other KH game since.

Battling Marluxia during the lantern scene would be a really cool visual. Having a gameplay mechanic where you have to jump on the different lanterns to reach him would be really creative.

I'm visualizing the incidental flower petals surrounding Marluxia's attacks/teleports falling among the lanterns and I'm in love~

This world looks really nice as far as the setting and environment goes, I'm kind of wishing it hadn't inherited so much of the writing from the film though. At least I assume that's what's going on. I'd like to see if the game can't tone down the breakneck, sugar rushed pacing characteristic of most modern Disney flicks and in its place imbue the world plots with some added depth/stakes and focused character and lore work.

Oh, this will be fun.

Kingdom Hearts 2 kept this secret in its marketing, and players were intended to find out his name when they booted the game up. It would have been the series' best-kept secret if candy featuring the characters' names and the OST hadn't come out early.

The translator (probably Mors) wasn't wrong, that's what Roxas is saying, but I think it was just recorded for the trailer. The Saïx line was heavily truncated and talked about how the hearts gathered in the darkness to form Kingdom Hearts, but the plot point of them stealing those hearts to make their own wasn't clear.

The entire meat of the plot, the reality of Xehanort and Ansem the Wise and identity of Roxas, were never revealed and in the former's case -- never hinted at. We knew the Organization wanted Kingdom Hearts to be complete but didn't understand what that meant. The fate of the characters and their journies were left in the dark, and compared to games like Birth by Sleep and 3D where every twist could have been and was essentially predicted, KH2's marketing did a good job of keeping the actual plot under wraps. Which, in my opinion, is similar to KH3.

Essentially, you've made a giant post kind of conceding the point you were trying to counter.

As Rapunzel leaves her mysterious tower for the first time with the help of charming bandit Flynn Rider - Sora, Donald and Goofy join the pair on their adventure to the kingdom, taking on the Heartless along the way. The new trailer also showcases some of the unique combat players can enjoy in the Tangled-inspired world as the team defeats the Heartless with the help of Rapunzel’s magical golden hair.

I haven't seen the post TGS trailers for years, so I went from memory, but memory changes over time (and 13 years is a long time).

I guess I have been a bit frustrated over this franchise lately, and I just had some thoughts that needed to get out, hence the long post.

I concede on the part of how much important stuff was revealed before the JP release. I might have misremembered quite a bit, due to the fact PAL regions had to wait until September/October before we got to play the game.

I feel you on the frustrations. I spent like an hour on Friday complaining to a friend about how they are handling the marketing for KH3 and realized it is about the same level of marketing that KH2 got, but with a few more larger stages for it to be shown at and more Disney acknowledgement.
