If you all follow Kingdom Hearts news like some of us on Kingdom Hearts Insider do, you'll have probably woken up to various updates from English-language video game news outlets on "a brand new world" in the upcoming title, Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance]. Of course, the "brand new world" was none other than "The Grid" based upon Disney's 2011 film, TRON: Legacy! The majority of the Kingdom Hearts community has been aware of this worlds existence since December when it first made its debut at Jump Festa 2012, but to casual fans this was definitely a piece of exciting news.
The train of TRON news started with Square Enix France's official Facebook page being updated with screenshots and renders and a blog post by Square Enix Members Europe, which was a pleasant surprise considering how silent Square Enix has been on Kingdom Hearts 3D since the announcement of the game's localization last year in December. Minutes after the European updates on Kingdom Hearts 3D, Inside Gaming Daily and Game Informer posted short articles featuring screenshots and renders of "The Grid".
This burst of press related to Kingdom Hearts 3D seems to be a sign of good things to come, considering the game will be out in under a month in Japan. Between the six-page cover spread in Nintendo Power featuring an interview with series director Tetsuya Nomura and the rumored release date of Kingdom Hearts 3D in Europe, we seem to be getting closer to the game's time to shine outside of Japan. To some of us fans it seems well overdue, and to the more casual fans of the series, this reveal of the TRON: Legacy world is merely the tip of the iceberg of information that is sure to come.
Of course, we shouldn't expect a release date tomorrow or even next week (no matter how much we do want one), and sitting around with bated breath will get us nowhere. The fact that we know we'll start getting news on the North American, European, and Australian side of things is just enough hope to keep some of us satisfied. Then again we aren't the most patient of fans; All of the begging for Kingdom Hearts III and a Kingdom Hearts HD remaster is clue enough over how vocal the fanbase is when it comes to the series. No doubt a ton of us are clamoring for more, but for now we'll just have to wait for any type of news.
Just keep cruising, everybody~
