did I say yet how happy I am you're not a complete hater of that game? T_T;;; <3
Overall I agree, but this is KH. I was one of the more avid Xion-Aqua link supporter and I still think going down that road would've been much better for all involved. Just to show you how resemblance can matter in this series.
On the topic at hand - Everyone are, by definition, carbon copies of each other and for solid plot reasons.
About the only exception here is Riku, but he was possessed by one of the bigger camps (the Xehanort camp) and thanks to Xion messing his and Sora's Memories up, he's now bound to the Sora-Kairi camp as well. Oh and he had a Replica of his very own to boot.
So if they look alike - assume they're related and then let yourself be proved wrong. Though it IS tricky to tell when it's plot oriented, and when it's Nomura's lack of creativity when designing characters.
I fail to see why you held that as a reason against it, truth be told. It's not like people splitting up is new to the series and we even have a being who probably won't be explained to the end of the series - Namine, who's made up of basically Nothing.
Though in your defense let it be said that the Lingering Sentiment was added by the development team and Nomura retconned it into canonity.
Something that once again shows a great deal about the man's plot conjuring processes, and that's in the game that he supposedly worked more on compared to Days everyone's complaining about.
Familiar notion. They also hold against Xion a lot of stuff they want to have happen to Kairi that did happen to Xion. Now with Xion and Kairi I can somehow understand because it happens to a new character as opposed to someone we've had since the beginning of time.
But for Aqua to be a post-puberty Mary Sue and be completely redundant? Nah, she's a goddess in the fandom. Now to each their own and all that but my own tells me to be irked by it.
She's a non-personal plot device is how I can best describe it. She made Kairi into a Wielder albeit unintentionally, was a part of Terra's descent into Darkness and made CO
But that's the basic definition of self contained. It never bothered me that CO was there and yes finding out where it came from would've been nice but it just feels like they wrote down a list of mysteries, like "how did Kairi manage to use the Keyblade" and "where did Castle Oblivion come from" and handed them at random to the various members of TAV.
Aqua specifically feels like she had nothing beyond it, since she had a rather anti-climatic and non-influencing ending, unlike Terra and Ven. But ironically those two are influential because WE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM FROM THE FM+ AND ANOTHER REPORT SO WHAT'S THE POINT AGAIN
*huff, puff*
But yeah. What I liked about Xion, contrast to Aqua, is that Aqua embodies one of my greatest issues with BBS, being that it explains things we already knew. Ok so Kairi's a Wielder. That's kind of been around since KH2 even without there being a need for a Rite of Succession so what was the point again. And she created CO - I fail to see how that matters much aside from FORCING importance on Aqua as a character. And Terra... well I don't care about HIS story so why should I give Aqua credit for that?
And Nomura ALREADY EXPLAINED why Kairi reached the Destiny Islands - it WAS coincidence. And now he RETCONNED it into it being Kairi following Ven in Sora and Riku's Light and Keyblade.
On the other hand, aside from explaining something we needed explanation for - being why it took a year to restore Sora and why Roxas didn't take off and leave earlier than he did and why he even left to begin with - Xion also gave us a plot framework to work with IN FUTURE INSTALLMENTS.
Making Sora and Riku's Memories flow between the two boys; I fail to see how that's self contained compared to Aqua.
I didn't mean the translations. I meant the actual scene, being Ven and Aqua both being on DI at the same time, and Ven asked only Aqua to put an end to him. And then meeting MX in the Coliseum
Neither scene made it into the game, regardless of what was said in them. That's what irks me, not the lines being said in other times.
Oh right, I did read this. Now it connects.
Gods. *slaps her*
Rise, good sir. We are equals here =3 *thoroughly enjoying this debate*
It's weird, but Eraqus is one of the characters I cared more for. I like him and MX quite a bit and am thoroughly curious about Yen Sid and that trio's story.
I also love how Eraqus pulled through one of the concepts I've been LONGING to see in the series that matches Riku's Darkness =\= evil.
Eraqus was, as I like to put it, Blinded by the Light
So if only for that, I forgive him.
ISN'T IT?! ;_; I had such high hopes for their fight scene at the opening movie but then it basically amounted to some stupid metaphor about Aqua fighting Terranort
:C
I've been a Kairi hater since I first ventured into the fandom (it was the raft comment and only got worse from there) but even I don't get most of the Xion hate.
Hell I even defend Kairi when people throw unjust reasons to hate her like her being a plot device (yeah ok so she's important like THAT, deal) or that she forgot Sora in KH2 (congratulations, hate the World sans Riku and Namine). And I'm like wtf.
But Xion hate... bleh. Did I say I was never too big of an Organization fan already? It made me actually enjoy what they did have to offer.
As for Aqua having future importance, it depends, really. I mean, Kairi's been around since the beginning of the series but aside from being a plot device, and one that at times was kidnapped for the sole purpose of being kidnapped (damn you KH2). So excuse me if I'm not holding my breath for her grand role in KH3, especially if BBS is something Nomura spent how long on to come up with and the fandom considers as the best game in the series.
So Aqua living past BBS doesn't mean she'll be important. I mean, right now she's at the same level as Xion to me - someone who came, messed things up, and now waits for Sora to Undo her Torment
I remain, until hell freezes over and Nomura does something I like about this series plot-wise, unimpressed.
X3 <3<3
Did I say I was enjoying this?
Oh, and it messed up some spoiler tags in the parts you quoted =O mind fixing?
