I slumped back in my chair and stared at the ceiling. Plain white painting crumbling away into a dirty brown. The rain pelted hard on the roof outside. I heard a crack opening and opened my mouth to catch a drop of water. It cooled my parched throat. I caught several other drops before turning back to reality. I walked to the window and stared at the rain. I heard screams, laughter and the moaning of the trees as the storm slaughtered it.
I touched the glass and felt its cool surface against my skin. I shut my eyes and backed away from reality once again. I'm trapped. Four walls surround me. Gravity keeps me down. But in my head I'm free.
Why couldn't the world be like this.
