Help needed in Neverland; Trinity won't work!

I am in Neverland. I am up to when Wendy and Kairi are captured by pirates, and we have to find them again. i am inside the ship cabin, and i need to get to Hook's cabin. i see the ladder on the top of the room and the green Trinity, but when i go up to it, i can't use it! is it because Peter Pan is in the party instead of goofy or donald?

EDIT: I left Neverland, then came back and instead of Peter Pan, i have Goofy and Donald. I did the Trinity and climbed up. am i going to need Peter Pan along the way? did i mess up? i still don't know how to fly yet!

donald and goofy should always be in ur party for trinities to work

you basically never need any world specific characters with you.

It's usually best to keep donald and goofy in the party at all times.

lol thats where the words 'usually' and 'basically' came into play.

Not to mention thats the only thing, all others are forced world team mates into the party or are non-essential to the game.

You don't need Peter Pan in your party. You'll fly when you confront Hook.
