Magic Swap Question(s)

I've been contemplating whether or not to get "Magic Swap". I really want to play Import games, but I've heard that after a while, Magic Swap stops working. Is this true? Also, how does Magic Swap work? Are there any other alternatives to buying Magic Swap(besides a Jpn PS2) and how much do they cost? Also, is there a kind of Magic Swap thing for the Wii and other Next Gen consoles?

er..ever heard of a mod chip?if you are good with tools..its really easy to solder it yourself..it's self-booting and requires nothing from you

Also, don't mod chips require taking apart the PS2, which voids the warranty?

actually..if you dont want to break ur ps2..just get it done by a professional...the warranty for the ps2 is life-time rite?(not sure..neeed confirmation.)

but yeah..it DOES void the warranty because sony doesnt approve of disassembling the ps2
