Title is there since I'll be including everything that I do in this thread, but in Spoilers for different works. And while I mainly plan to use this as a tertiary saving method, I do encourage feedback. But please keep in mind that these are typically all WIPs and rough drafts. And if I break any rules placing them here, I apologize right now. It's been a while.
Spoiler ShowIt all started as just another spam bot on Skype, or so I thought. I was rather bored that night and decide to respond to the bot in search of some form of entertainment. It started off as innocently as possible for a situation like this. I asked if the woman was real or just some bot, and was met with a link. Having faith in my laptop’s antivirus I clicked the link only to be led to the popular image hosting website that I saw in the link. Going back to the messaging client, I found the message asking if that was real enough for me. Taking the bait I responded asking how she got my info to begin with. Her response came in the form of asking if I was on any dating sites. Sure there was a time when I frequented those, but that was shortly after becoming a legal adult quite a few years ago, but I decided to withhold this information and tell her the current truth that I am not.
As if the person could see through the facade she tells me that she saved my information some time ago, apparently before I got around to deleting the profiles in question. At this point she sends another link to what I think is a website regarding camping. Once again putting the utmost faith in my antivirus I click the link only to find that it leads to a type of dating site, this one focused on cam play. I return to the messaging client and am once again met with a message. This one tells me to accept the invite to the cam since she’s not wearing much clothing. I respond to this by saying that I’d rather not delve into something like that with someone that I don’t even know. Somewhere in my mind I knew that this wouldn’t work with the woman, but she tickles me with the concept of it being free.
With that in mind I accept the invite on the page and am led to a registration form for the site. To be expected for sure, but I play the innocent idiot a bit more and tell the woman that I don’t have a credit card, not far from the truth I might add. As if from a script she tells me not to worry about it and that it’s only for age verification and that she doesn’t want to be seen in so little clothing by any minors. It might have been my boredom taking control over my mind, but I tell her to give me a moment and pull an old pay card left over from my previous job. In my mind I say that it should be fine due to how many times I used the very same card for shopping online, but it fails to verify what is needed. To be expected since technically the card serves more as a portable bank than anything, even if it is personalized with my name.
At this point I grew tired of my little game with the person, so I tell the person that I am going to bed and that it was fun chatting with her. So with that I shut the program down and bring up the primary browser again. I close out the tabs brought about by the links the woman gave me and instead bring up my preferred website for streaming my favorite shows. Halfway through the second episode I hear a ping from the computer and my phone both telling me that I received a message through one of the programs running. Thinking that it was a friend of mine via Discord I remove the full screen effect from the video player and look at the bar on the screen. That’s when I see that it’s not the Discord icon highlighted, but rather the Skype icon. Curious I bring up the program, since I shouldn’t have received the ping to begin with, only to see a message from the woman saying that we’ll talk later. With a silent laugh I go back to my episode only to go to sleep at the end.
After my morning routine of cursing the sun for being too bright and my alarm clock for waking me from a dream, I find myself dressed for work and walking out of the door to my truck. When I get into the vehicle I hear a ping from my phone this time telling me that there is a message for me on Skype. With a few slides of my finger I bring up the message only to freeze on the spot. I recognize the name almost instantly from the previous night as the woman that sent the links. However instead of another link or an attempt to get me to join some porn site, it’s a simple message wishing me a good day at work. I could feel my heartbeat rise at the words so I scan the area only to find nothing different. The only thing that could be considered slightly different is the fact that a couple down the street has started their fight a little earlier than normal. I decide to ignore the message for now and make my way to the factory I work at.
Once in my usual parking spot I kill the engine and climb out of the vehicle. I almost jump out of my skin at the sound of a car horn, but the excitement dies down once I realize it’s someone getting mad at me for jumping into the empty spot next to me. I hurry to the side to get out of the woman’s way and apologize when she finally gets out.
