Hey everybody! So I just finished the game last night, and honestly have just been having a difficult time processing everything. I’ve loved this series since I was in grade school, and despite the ridiculousness behind its plot, I’ve always been very attached to the story and characters. Right now, I’m just feeling kind of lost. It feels like how it did when I finished reading the last Harry Potter book. I myself am a sucker for happy endings, and even though almost every character gets one, Sora and Kairi’s just gutted me. I’ve always loved their relationship and finally seeing it evolve to the next level was a dream come true. But to have them wrenched apart, and then have Sora seemingly lay the ultimate sacrifice, was just brutal. I know that the secret ending suggests we’ll get a direct sequel of some kind, but who knows when it would happen. As it stands now this feels like it’s all over. Mostly I just wanted to vent, but I guess I just want to know if there’s a generally accepted understanding of the ending. Are we to assume that Sora did in fact save Kairi, and the price that Young Xehanort was talking about was Sora sacrificing his own life for hers? Or are they both illusions? In any case, minus the pacing issues, I loved the game. I just don’t think I was really ready to say goodbye after so long!
