All of a sudden, my E drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N, Driver Version 5.1.2535.0) stopped working. Basically, whenever I inserted a CD/DVD, nothing would happen.
This was the message for the device status:
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I tried uninstalling it, and the reinstalling it, but when reinstalling there was a very vague message saying there were "problems" of some sort with the reinstall, and therefore the hardware "might not work properly".
Also, the driver can't be updated, and there were no previous versions of it that I could revert to.
There is the minor problem of me having very little idea of what I am doing when it comes to computers.
So if anyone can help, that would be great.
(edit: sorry, I didn't see the hardware sticky ^_^v)
