I AM black, but why would I have to be to use such a word? I hope you know that the English language is made up of words from all different kinds of other languages.
How is it offensive? All that word means is the color black in Spanish. I live in south Texas so we hear that language alot. I grew up around it. ;

And yes, we still use that word around the house, along with a whole bunch of other words, big whoop, wanna fight about it? >:'D

I swear, black people just want something to complain about all the damn time. >___>;
