The Official Blitz Bowl XLVII Thread
We have reached the finals of the yearly Spira Blitzball League championship tournament! It is the best time to be a Blitzball fan. The Blitz Bowl is always a spectacle to behold, and this year will be no different.
The Game
The Kilika Beasts experienced a surge in popularity after hiring newcomer Yuma Guado. After going 8-2 and reaching the GBC (Guadosalam Blitzball Conference) Championship Game in 2011, the Beasts advanced further in 2012 after recording a 6-4 regular season record. Under head coach Miyu, who is in her third season with the team, Kilika upgraded their roster with players such as defensive backs Tatts and Shaami, and wide receiver Zalitz.
On the other side, the Al Bhed Psyches have gained a reputation as the undefeated champions of the Spira Blitzball League for the past three seasons. After the 2003 season, the team went into a dismal slump in which they failed to make the playoffs for five consecutive seasons. Following the end of the 2008 season, the Psyches hired Biggs as their head coach. Biggs, who played 10 years in the Spira Blitzball League, joined the team after an impressive 7–3 season as the coach of the Guado Glories, and in his first season with the Psyches he managed to turn their fortunes around.
The Broadcast
The broadcast will be carried on cable television, as always, by the Blitzball Network, with Jimma calling play-by-play and Bobba as the color analyst. Several international stations will also broadcast the game, including Timber's TV Station.
Commercials
According to the Blitzball Network, the price of a 30-second advertisement has hit a record high 50,000,000 gil. The Shinra Electric Company has announced it will not advertise on the game, citing the advertising costs.
Among the advertisers for Blitz Bowl XLVII include SeeD, Leblanc Club, Peristylium Suzaku, the Ivalice Cartographers' Guild, and others.
Halftime Show
In December 16, 2012, the Bonga Bugle announced that Yuna had been chosen as the headline performer for the Blitz Bowl XLVII halftime show, with musician Nobuo Uematsu as a potential collaborator.
