The story I tell you is old, very old, from a time before mankind had mastered the arts of technology and when magic and sword fighting were commonplace. It comes from a land called Valeria, which you may say doesn’t exist and that is partially true, it doesn’t exist, now. But long ago before the country was torn apart by the ever tumultuous shifting of the Earth it did exist and a tale more epic than you may believe took place on it.

But before I start on the story I will need to delve further into the constant cycling of time and recount another tale of Valeria, one long, long ago.

It was a long time ago when Chaos ruled over Valeria. Figuratively speaking, of course, that dark spectre had been slain during the founding and creation of the land. No, this was Chaos caused by bandits and corrupt lords and by figures and beings far worse than these petty annoyances, I am speaking of course of the Twins.

Frizius and his sibling Flavius, who have been known by many different names over the years, the Elemental Pair, the Dark Partners and much more, really only have one true name: The Twins.

Frizius, twin of ice, is a tall elongated humanoid, all sharp corners and smooth straight surfaces, carved from pale blue ice, his fingers end in sharp points, his feet broken flattened pads of ice. His eyes a re chips of freezing cold ice in his head and his voice his cold and sharp, cracking the air.

His brother, Flavius, twin of fire, is large and chubby all wavy lines of flame and is only humanoid from the upper half for he lacks legs and instead travels on a tail of the same red, orange and yellow flames of the rest of him. His eyes are similar to his brothers but are searing hot flames and his voice his hot and angry, blazing through the air.

The two rampaged freely across the land, burning, freezing and smashing everything they saw. The bandits and corrupt lords to which the peasants willingly bowed fled and cowered before the devastating duo. The peasants weren’t given the opportunity however and many fell to the monsters. This continued for many a year, until the arrival of Orondias.

Some claim that Orondias came from the island to the north of the country, others claim he was from the far eastern lands, some still claim he was an emissary from the gods. The truth of the matter is unknown, but nonetheless he was worshipped like a deity after he left. Orondias was a human sorcerer to all appearances and he arrived to find the land in disarray and ruin.

He was a kind man and using his magic set about repairing towns and healing villagers. However, all his effort was for naught as the self same villagers he healed and villages he repaired were destroyed or injured by bandits or the ever dangerous twins within the following week.

Soon Orondias realized how futile his efforts were and set about a new course of action, stopping the destruction and death at its source. He gradually convinced as many bandits and lords as he could to stop their foul actions and eliminated those who refused to listen. Soon, those menaces were removed but the greater one still loomed; The Twins. Unfortunately, dealing with the twins would be a far more complicated as they couldn’t be reasoned with and were far too powerful to slay.

The only solution was to seal away the twins and he knew only one spell with the potential of success. Unfortunately, this spell required valuable jewellery, something that in a land as ravaged and destitute as Valeria was at that point is exceedingly rare and so the sorcerer was forced to leave temporarily to obtain such items.

In the time that he was absent the bandits and lords reverted to their former natures, their murderous, corrupt natures. The result was that the eventual rehabilitation of Valeria was delayed even further, as Orondias had to repeat all he had done before leaving when he returned. He returned with two exquisite rings crafted of gold and intertwined with silver, one had a ruby atop it, the other a sapphire.

Rings in his possession the samaritan spell caster headed out to do battle with two of the most nefarious and powerful beings on Valeria, at least at that time. The Twins were currently residing in the remains of the Dehjavis Caverns and Mountain during that period and that was where he found them. He rested well, cast defensive spells and feasted himself before hand, making sure he was at full potential for the inevitable confrontation.

Descending from his barren camp at the mountains peak to the valleys and gorges of the former caverns below he withdrew the rings from their pouch and began to cast, preparing the binding. He dashed from cover to cover; careful to stay hidden and not alert The Twins to his presence, the element of surprise his most deadly weapon, aside from the rings.

For me; The intro took long. It sounds like many many novels I have already read. You need to make it stand out more...otherwise It was okay..
