Not shocking, three trailers, two worlds revealed, Kairi's new outfit, and the reveal of Aqua as a seeker or fallen to Darkness, it proably was. Wasn't helping everyone I follow, man like Erica Mendez and Erica H (Ann from Persona 5) was twitting constantly about the trailers. Art for Kairi's outfit came out faster than I give it, so yeah e3 was a success for KH3. Here's to the next event.

Well that’s certainly flawed since it doesn’t even include the last of us...

I think that's mighty impressive compared to a new Smash Bros game being announced. The bar graphs and pie chart really help understanding the data points.

KH3's post value just destroys every game presented.

Also hilarious to see Square Enix (9%) over EA (7%). Suck it EA!

Is it a invitation, I'm sure they like that. Then again, I haven't seen Ubisoft's and from the thumbnails.... I am glad I'm too laz to cover the rest of e3 for the first time

I'm suspicious at the validity if the assertion that KH outdid Smash, but it did have more trailers and the reaction culture with KH is strong stuff.

I loved the trailers, but to a non fanatic I can only see them being weird and cryptic and extremely silly.

Eh..I firmly believe there are more Disney fans than Smash Bros fans. I also believe Ultimate wasn't as big of a deal with its "Everyone is here" factor.

Yeah, I loved The Last of Us Part 2 stuff that they showed. It looks amazing but there's probably significant amount a backlash for it for two reasons, at least I think it's these reasons given who I've talked to about it.

1. The complaint of these kinds of games being too cinematic. This is a common complaint with a surprising number of people and I've talked a lot of people who felt like it was too scripted, too gory, and the combat wasn't that great. Which of course I disagree with but that's people's opinion. Can't really help that.

2. Ellie being a lesbian. Reading over what some people said about it and realizing that there's still a lot of significant homophobia in this world, espsically in the gaming community, was very disheartening. A lot people had a problem with it for the usual reasons people give when they don't like seeing gay people on screen. And that probably gave it some negative feedback. Still, it's progress and I know a lot fans who were clapping back at those people, so it's not all bad. I still think it might have affected it a bit.

KH3 doesn't have anything of this. It was just good Disney fun with new popular worlds that Im sure a lot of Disney fans want to explore and expansive gameplay. So I'm not surprised it did. The reaction to people when Aqua was revealed on YouTube are amazing and warms my heart. It's also #25 trending on YouTube, which I have never seen for a KH game.

Wait there's homophobia still going about TLOU2 yet people want Ren to be gay in Persona 5... odd

but not surprising they be a strange contrast on one series over this. But people said she was gay in Left Behind

But #25, what was #1 at least during E3?

I was shocked too but surprisingly, a lot of people didn't play Left Behind and were shocked to find this out. So I noticed a lot of people pushing back against it.

Also, I think with Persona, it gears more towards an audience that's more accepting of it. Also, for a while there's been this whole thing about diversity being forced into entertainment and blah blah and SJWs and all that. So combined that with a lot of people who didn't play Left Behind, it's not surprising. I mean, look what happened with Battlefield V.

Also, I have to checked again but think games like Halo and Smash are trending higher but I have to check again.

Seriously, it was actually trending ?! Now I'm happier than ever...
Yeah, I've also seen alot of "critique" for the kiss scene that was shown in the new gameplay trailer and I have to say that I can relate with half of it but most of what people are outraged about is not validated and pretty unnecessary. Well, LGBT in games or (media in general) was always a touchy topic in the gaming community and is still not completely accepted and stamped as disgusting or just "sick" which is why I'm not really suprised about it but oh well, let's just hope that it will be let go later on.

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts III deserves all of its accolades. Disney fans love the faithfulness of their Disney properties and Kingdom Hearts fans are loving all of the breadcrumbs of lore and character reveals placed. It's a guaranteed recipe for success to please everyone.

Even if people are mocking the series through Kingdom Hearts III, bad publicity is still publicity.

To be brutally honest, Smash Ultimate Edition is another one of those Nintendo Wii-U to Switch ports just with the added benefit of all the playable characters from Melee and Brawl. Ridley's inclusion was only the truly trend-worthy aspect of the game.

Yup, pretty much and there are many other factors to consider. For instance Ultimate was backed by the Invitational 2018 tournament with sponsored players, athletes and celebrities. But then again, it's hard to beat the 10 year anticipation of a childhood game that Kingdom Heats 3 has. The years it took to built up to this moment for KH3 certainly towers the short timespan we've known about Ultimate.

I mean, I kinda disagree with the sentiment but the idea is sound. I think this Smash seems far more of a celebration of the series as a whole than just "another" port. There is a lot more changed than most of the ports I have actually seen/played. And its not even done yet, it doesn't take 3 years to make a port. But I digress, because yeah, since its still not totally new that probably does generate less buzz. So the logic is sound.

I also agree with others saying just random Disney fans talking about Frozen or Pirates would contribute to these numbers as well, where as Smash is a video game crossover exclusively.

Considering how popular the Kingdom Hearts 3 demo has been the last two days at E3 (the only game I’ve seen that has been 100% capped every time we went past), I’m not surprised that the online reception has been fantastic and overall positive. The three trailers and the release date certainly helped.

Y’know, KH3 has been so popular that we really struggled to justify spending hours in line. In fact, half our party still haven’t been able to play :(.

100% capped means you can't even get in the line right?

I wonder if Disney is taking notes what with the reaction to it at D23 and now the insane-nous coming out of E3 for the game. I wonder if this means the future of KH will look bright not just in video games but other outlets that Disney can get from it.

Like a film series cause KH is essentially the Disney equivalent of the MCU or a TV series on the Disney streaming service.

Well that's certainly good news for the series coming out of one of the largest gaming expos, and a little surprising to me since I thought there were other series presented more effectively. Like I'm just casually curious about SSB but I thought the reveal of Ultimate was really strong, not enough to make me want to go out and buy a Switch for it but still, it seemed to tell me everything I needed to know about what it was in a clear and straightforward fashion so I could make a decision about whether it's worth my time and money.

I was curious about what a non-KH fan would think of the E3 promotion so I showed my coworker the PotC trailer today and asked her to give me her honest opinion. She's a massive Disney fan who gets excited about pretty much everything Disney animation-related, so I figured she was a good fit for the demographic SE is trying to appeal to with these trailers and it was a funny experience watching the trailer with her. The breakdown pretty much went like this---

Beginning of the trailer: "Huh, this is neat. I wonder what's going on."

Gameplay segment in The Caribbean: "Whoa, that went from Disney to Deadpool fast." (Her actual words.)

Hades yelling GET THEM: "Wait what?!"

Frozen: "What's happening what am I watching???"

Every time an Organization member appeared: Silence.

Kairi twirls for Axel: "Um wait is this anime?"

Riku x Riku: "Please explain."

She seemed to start out enjoying the trailer, but by the end of it she pretty flatly told me she didn't like it and likened it to one of those joke trailers people make for fake movie sequels/crossovers where they cut together a bunch of random footage from different films. When I explained that it's a real game series she had a moment of recollection of some ads for one of the previous games (I'm guessing KH1 or 2) and said that she recalls those being really interesting and fun. So there does seem to be a disconnect with the current marketing angle, granted this is one person who mostly plays casual/social games. Even so, I can't help thinking the "plotting" tends to lose people, since even for me it's a source of frustration watching the trailers, and I actually know enough to track the implications.
