The World Ends With You Solo Remix Finally Returns to the App Store

After initially being pulled from the App Store due to incompatibility with iOS 8.0, the 2012 port of The World Ends With You has finally returned. Existing players can update the game so they can return to playing it (or redownload the game if they deleted it after the initial discontinue) while new players can purchase the game for a premium.
The World Ends With You was originally released in 2007 on the Nintendo DS. Ported to iOS in 2012 and Android in 2014 under the name The World Ends With You Solo Remix, this edition of the game featured gameplay changes to accommodate one screen, as well as adding a new store with shopkeeper Coco, and featuring a secret image with a mysterious character.
In 2012, several characters from The World Ends With You were featured in Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] as residences of Traverse Town.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to play that much recently, but this is still my favorite DS game.
I really love its art style, I've been trying to emulate it while drawing but unfortunately it's pretty difficult D:

Gods, I love this game. I used to play it all day long. -grabs DS and starts playing TWEWY-
EDIT: Am I the only one that wishes there were more Aliens out there and that this game needed to be able to connect to the internet so you could mingle with more than the two people in your neighborhood that played the game once?

Yeah, the mingling thing can be annoying. I just used my lil bro's DS to get the necessary experience. But I really wish there was an online feature, I think it could make the game a lot better.
So, what pins do you guys use?
I've been using the black planet set (just because it's so damn good, I really don't think you can match it with anything else), but every once in awhile I'll switch back to my old set:
Ice Risers - this can do some serious damage, as well as incapacitate the noise.
Peace Full - with 5 heals for 50% each, arguably the most potent healing pin in the game.
Final Pyre, All Expired - I love the fire pins in general, great for dispatching large groups of noise.
Lightning Rook - Good long range pin, and can hit lots of enemies. Just love it in general.
Excalibur - Ridiculous amounts of damage, and a quick reload time, great stuff.
Kanesada - Up close and personal, and I prefer the amount of damage over Yoshimitsu's number of hits.

This game is dirt-cheap at Amazon. Should I dig-in? I mean I know the fans will tell me to....but what is this game most comparable to? I don't want to buy it if I won't like it (and I can't rent anymore since my local rental stores closed down).

I can't think of anything to compare it to, but I imagine you'd like it. As cheap as it is, it's not like the price would outweigh whatever few flaws you may find. It's a hell of a great game and seeing this thread kinda makes me want to pick it up again.

There isn't much to compare it to. It is very original in the way it was designed. And if you don't like it, you can always sell it on Half.com. But you would like it. It is a great game to play. Definitely worth buying. I have it in Japanese and in English and love it to pieces.

God, I loved this game so much. As Alexx said, viewing this thread kinda makes me want to pick it up again; maybe after I get some of my work in Pokemon done, I'll be able to go and play through this...again.

You should have your characters eat/drink items to get them stronger. Viper Drink, Mako Synergy, and Royal Jelly Q10 all are insane at rasing attack, defense, and health (respectively).

I finally beat the hardest boss a while ago. Such a tough fight, I was grinding for weeks.

Dude, not sure if you've heard of this (I think ken posted it up awhile back, really old thread), but there's an easy way to beat hanekoma on ultimate.
Basically, you use these pines:
Righty Cat
Brainy Cat
Lefty Cat
Speed Factor
Black Uranus
The sixth pin is optional, generally a healing pin is suggested, but you could always use the Gatito pin to boost Black Uranus' attack.
But basically, the Cat pins and speed factor allow you to use Black Uranus to endlessly juggle the enemy on the bottom screen, leaving you only the top screen to worry about. Once you get a level three fusion attack, you should be able to finish the battle.
Joshua is the suggested partner, because he can stay in the air forever, and gets from air to ground quickly, which is great for the boss. Also, his air attack is win.
But yeah, I beat Hanekoma with that before I even grinded, it makes things so much easier.

I usually have Yoshimitsu as my main melee pin, it's the last of the JotM pins that spell out 'MONKEY'. Not to mention Lightning Rook and Excalibur as excellent damage dealers.

Chapter Select. Basically you start the game over, just with your pins and equipment intact. Kind of annoying for people that do re-plays because they want to start completely fresh, awesome for people like me that re-play for the story.

Pins evolve when they level up. Some evolve with point gained from battle, some from shutdown points (which are much more tiresome to accumulate)

Shutdown points are a pain in the ass. Battle points are quicker if you beat up stuff a lot higher level than you.

They might be useful because of Sub-slots: As you wear more and more pins at a time, their controls can start to overlap. If that happens, try setting half of them to sub-slots. And if you don't want to rage, try leveling up before you fight the first GM or any GM lol

I remember using the L button a lot after I beat the game so I could skip all the dialogue, but other than that...

Yeah, main use of the L and R buttons is for skipping dialogue after beating the game.
But I've started using sub-slots as well, though it's easy to get by without them.

Make sure you keep the sound on. This is one of the best soundtracks in a game, voice acting is pretty good, too.

I don't think you can get the Leo pin from the actual Minimato boss fight, you'll have to beat the game and then go back to that day and find his blue Boss noise and go from there.

All Taboo Noise drop Shadow Matter. That can be quested to Dark Matter.
Alternatively, Noises 80, 85 and 96 on hard or ultimate do drop plain dark matter.

Yes. Buy it right now. It is unarguably among the top ten DS games ever made. In most top fives. Personally, it is the best.
Even if you played through the campaign as quickly as you possibly could, it'd still take you ten to fifteen hours. Throw into that the fact the world in it is extremely well-developed, and there are several extremely likeable/hateable characters, and an equipment and weaponry system with over six hundred items, and it's massive. If you're aiming to complete it 100%, you'll be playing for at least 200 hours.
The battle system is great fun when you master it and figure out the right attacks and equipment to use, but there's a steep learning curve involved. If you still find it hard, you can set an AI to take care of half of the challenge. Don't give up on it because of the battle system, though, you'd be missing out on far too much.

In all honesty, I rarely ate food when I was going throughout the actual game. Maybe a few items to boost bravery, but I normally didn't have the funds (or items) to afford any food worth buying

Shit, I didn't even go into the item menu at all during my first playthrough. Then I fought Sho again on hard mode and thought 'fcuk, how the hell can my hp be that bloody low?!'

It hasn't been too long since TWEWY, so I'm sure they're still in a similar mindset. They opened many doors for a sequel anyway, so it's not like a sequel is the last thing people would expect.
Although admittedly, I'm curious to know what authority Nomura has for a sequel, since I'm fairly certain he was only a character designer and nothing more. Either way, hopefully the Nintendo Power bit is true. I enjoy TWEWY's style.

What system would you guys want TWEWY2 on? Wii or 3DS? I'd want it on 3DS, so you could use the gyroscope for special attacks, but that's just me.
I would like to see it on the 3DS.
And I think it would be kind of neat to see a few parts of the game in 3D ( not realistic 3D, but make the drawings appear 3D ).

I hope the graphics are good though. I honestly think TWEWY's graphics could have been a lot better, but the reason I think they were like that is because Square wanted a game on DS as it came out, but it took them a long time so yeah lol

Except the New Bioshock isn't directly linked to Bioshock 1&2 (and in fact takes place before it)
Considering how TWEWY ended I would think there would be after effects in the other Games... or the other universes.

If you've read ZERO spoilers, the story is pretty nice. At the very least, for a game that doesn't have 1,001 sequels to explain one story, it's pretty nice. Must've replayed the game 2-3 times by now just for story's sake.

That's too bad, would be so awesome to complete firsthand opposed to reading up spoilers/never knowing the outcome.
If you have the chance to get another copy without hurting your wallet, I'd say do so. It has nice replay value anyway.

Oh TWEWY...I've played through this game so many times. It still keeps be coming back for more. Square-Enix did an amazing job with the presentation of the game and the original plot for it. I haven't met one person yet who hasn't liked TWEWY.

Amazing game on all levels. Characters are very intriguing, especially Joshua, and it was good to see Nomura actually designing good characters for once, even if they were rehashed KH designs - I really liked how they all looked.
Music was epic. Gameplay was epic. EVERYTHING was epic.
Talk of a sequel makes me "don't know if want" though... I hear they are thinking about it however. :C

Double-screen battles would still work. The art style and the 2D sprites would be hard to transfer to the 3DS however...Anyway, any thoughts?

I finally found a used copy of this game and bought it last week. I'm definitely enjoying it; I think a sequel really wouldn't be anywhere as good as the original... but a spin-off like you guys suggested sounds good.

But a large dose of TWEWY was the fun exploitation of Japanese culture, like the Ramen doctor, fashion, and the music. If they had to replace that to make it fit into a more western setting, it just wouldn't work.

I agree that if there is a sequel (which both Nomura and Tatsuya Kando claimed they would like to see happen) it should keep the Japan setting. But idk how they would create another plot. What else would happen? I myself am on the fence about whether I'd like a sequel or not. I wouldn't want a sequel to ruin an already amazing game, but I'd love to play more of this amazing game.

This times a million. I just got TWEWY two weeks ago and it's fantastic. I love this game but I feel like I've seen all I need to of Shibuya and the characters story lines were more powerful if they were just kept the way they ended.
I would definitely enjoy a sequel if it's the same concept but like you said, in a different place and maybe time.

I'm still really early on in this game (Day 3 with Shiki), but I love this game already.
As for potential sequel, from what I know already about TWENY1, I'd love to see a similar scenario in a different location with different cast, though I'd love to see a guest appearance from one or two of the characters from the first game. Perhaps Joshua appearing for a moment with the new city's Composer?

Huh? I thought games announced at E3 by a Japanese company are that case because of worldwide appeal. And last time I checked, TWEWY is a niche game in the west. Not the worldwide appeal like other titles in Square's catalogue such as the FF titles.

I heard TWEWY was more popular in the west as well, so I figured it would make more sense to announce a sequel (if there is one) at one of the biggest gaming conventions in America (E3) than at the Tokyo Game Show, for example. Although, to be perfectly honest I hadn't heard of E3 before last year, so I'm not exactly familiar with how these things usually go... ^^"
Anywho, I was just wondering how a TWEWY 2 could work. I mean, I do like the idea that a few people have posted about basing it on a Game in a different place with a new cast, but I just absolutely LOVE the characters of the first. I don't want to leave them. :c

^ Yeah, I'd be kinda afraid of having TWEWY on the 3DS because, as you said, the sprites and the entire 2D style of the game were spectacular.
But then again, I'd love to see what they would do with all the other features of the 3DS. I mean, they squeezed every last little feature out of the DS and put it to good use, something I haven't seen any other DS game try to do. They could follow Cubic Ninja's footsteps and not use the 3D effect at all, but rather focus on the gyroscope, accelerometer, AR cards and the like. For example, activating an Earthquake pin by physically shaking the 3DS. I think they could make it work.

Since it is known to be the largest conference known to the industry, it's usually the games that get announced there have a worldwide appeal (Or Western Appeal, as America is the largest consumer). The Final Fantasies? Have that worldwide appeal. Gears? Worldwide. Halo? Worldwide. Even Chrono Trigger has that worldwide appeal (The DS version sold nearly 1 million copies in America). The World Ends With You? It doesn't. It's a very niche title.

Yeah as far as gameplay goes TWEWY is probably the best DS RPG out there, if not the best DS game. It's probably the only RPG that didn't use the dual screens just to make it easier to look at menus. I need to replay this at some point.
Best character was Sho hands down.

TWEWY is the most addicting and funnest game I've ever played! XD My mission was to try to collect all the pins, but that was a fail. -_- I needed another DS and I couldn't visit my friend every day since some needed to evolve by mingling with friends. Haha after looking through this thread makes me want to play again, and actually try to beat they most difficult character in the game. ( I won't say.. I might spoil the game)
I wonder if he gives out a special pin? o.o

Yup. I think you unlock it by getting every Secret Report. Then, just redo the last day and the secret ending plays after the credits, I believe. Hope that helps!

Anybody other than me would like to see some extra content or something? Like, how Kingdom Hearts has Final Mixes and all, I'd definitely like to see a The World Ends With You+ with some more bosses, extra threads, idk. I beat all the bosses on Ultimate and basically have everything except 100% pin mastery and 100% threads, but I'm very close D: As for the sequel, idk what it would be about...it would probably ruin it.

Devil Survivor is doing it for the 3DS, probably for the extra memory. If they did a re-release of TWEWY, would you want it on DS or 3DS?

If anything a sequel could give the original better publicity and give it a chance to reach new players. If there were a sequel, and it were terrible... pretend it didn't happen and keep playing the original.
I loved that game a lot, it was one of the most fun games I've played; a sequel to TWEWY would not change how much you love and enjoy the original.

At most, like Seraph said... there would be Easter eggs from the original.

I thought this game was awesome. Although I think that the two-screen battles were slightly confusing. They should have made multiplayer were one player could control Neku and the other could control one of Neku's allies.

I find it hard to imagine Neku going through the Reapers' Game again (for the fifth time ((or for the fifth, sixth, seventh, and/or even eight time))).
That aside, an excellent easter egg would be Neku walking around with a girl (that girl being the TRUE Shiki).

I'm pretty sure the people of square enix are creative enough to continue on the story of TWEWY. And if it's not as good as the first game oh well thats your idea of the game. But some harcore fans of the game will think they were both amazing. I personally love all the KH games and that's including chain of memories, which most of my friends didn't like. :p So I am looking forward to a new story or continuation?

Yeah as far as gameplay goes TWEWY is probably the best DS RPG out there, if not the best DS game. It's probably the only RPG that didn't use the dual screens just to make it easier to look at menus. I need to replay this at some point.
I'm only on Day 4 (Week 1), but I think this might be the best JRPG I've played.

I actually liked this game a lot and it was one of the funnest DS games I've played and the soundtrack was amazing
I'm kinda on the fence cuz this game was so good that I don't want it to be ruined by a sequel

There can - and in many cases (I believe) should - be a difference between what someone thinks is the best game they've played and the one that is their favourite. If any of the Kingdom Hearts games fall into the latter, good for you, I can't say anything about that. But if KH is genuinely the best game you've played, then having more exposure to gaming as a whole will do nothing harmful, and will have the benefit of lifting the bar for what you consider your best game in future.
And hell, there's of course different aspects within people's favourite and best games that lift them above others. Nevertheless, there isn't any aspect of a Kingdom Hearts game that isn't outdone by some other title or series. The only place that Kingdom Hearts games can't be faulted is in the music department, but that's part of the experience, which encompasses the game and more.
Essentially: Think of any aspect/s of any Kingdom Hearts game, and there are other titles that do it better. I still enjoy Kingdom Hearts games, but it no longer falls into the favourite or best category. Maybe quasi-nostaliga, but it's not old enough for that, only 'I had some good times' stuff.

Announcement of Neku being in 3D led me to go ahead and rebuy the game today (been meaning to for awhile, my first copy was stolen, grr). Just started replaying, and I remember exactly why this is one of my favorite handheld games of all time (I think only the Pokemon series ranks above it on my favorites list).

I'm going through the same thing with Chrono Trigger DS. I've been trying to find a copy but no gamestore near me has it. I guess I'll just order it from Amazon. While I wait for it to get here, I'll try and get those secret reports in TWEWY.

Ugh, this. Pretty much my only gripe with this game is that you can only have one save slot. I want to experience the whole thing all over again in time for DDD, but I also don't want to lose all the awesome things and stats and whatever else I spent hours accumulating... Most bothersome.

What you can always do is play the chapters again in order (it'll do it automatically for you), just set the difficulty to ultimate and don't use any equips. The beginning will still be a little easy but the difficulty will pick up somewhat.

Yeah, it's just somehow not the same going through the chapters again. Ya gotta start from scratch to get that same feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. But I'm not sure if I prefer the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction from having maxed all stats, gotten the Darklit Planet pins, raise Joshua's Bravery to 999 just so he can equip that damn feather... I don't know if I'd be bothered to go through all that again. However, I do love TWEWY oh so friggin' much. If I started again I probably would collect everything all over again just to squeeze out every last drop of gooey enjoyment. Hmm... Conundrum.

What I've done so far is try to beat the game on ultimate with no items using the darklit planet set at level 1, as well as all blue noise at the end of the max possible chain. Most of it was doable (except some of the blue noise; such as the blue noise elephant and drake) but the final boss was extremely difficult.
Then I've done the game with no items and using only the starter pin set at level 1 and no armor. Again most of it was doable except I still can't beat the final boss, it's the only battle that takes so long requiring very little screw ups.
All of it was on the same save file so I still had 100 base stats and above average HP. I still do want to make a new game file so bosses like Uzuki & Kariya could be a fun challenge, but some things like gaining all the food and getting a star rank in every field would be among the things I'd like to avoid. My current save file reached 999h 59m. :[
It would be super cool if I could fight the individual bosses under the assumption they were on the end of a large chain.

I think it could work with new main characters as the Players in the Game. Neku & co. are pretty much good for now. But I could see a lot of the Reapers returning. Maybe they could even have it in other famous places around the world than just Shibuya.

Oh Hamster, live a little, the game is so much funner if you can master controlling both characters. What I would do is change the settings so that the AI takes over after so many seconds of not being controlled, then you can get used to it, but if it gets hectic, just let the AI take over. Honestly though, Joshua is really the only partner I can efficiently control simultaneously with Neku. Shiki takes too much brain power, remembering which symbols I've used and what not, and I just never really liked Beat's.

They do every pin from TWEWY, and by every pin I mean EVERY. PIN. The keypins, the fusions, everything. Incredibly awesome. If you go to the seller's shop, they sell tons of other nerdacious badges as well. I currently have way too many TWEWY pins (including the Player Pin, Red Skull Pin and my own personal pin set), many Pokémon badges (including the eight Indigo gym badges), some KH, some Invader Zim... All currently chillin' on the entire front half of the strap of my equally awesome Durmstrang academy messenger bag~ I have vowed to marry anyone that can correctly guess what each badge is from.
Anyway. They're great quality pins, so I'd definitely recommend that seller if you want to get some awesome sauce TWEWY pins.

Since this morning I have been spazing out because I carry TWEWY around everywhere so a possible sequel or something pleases me greatly. If it is just a port with an extra day and another secret boss, a really weird 3D remake, or a sequel that is in 2D or 3D I don't care~

That's why I hope it isn't a 3D remake. The Reaper's Game is over. The crew is back to their world and Joshua is one lonely angel. Maybe he starts another game to bring them back with new Reapers to take control of it. But then that would just be the same exact story all over again.

Why am I the only one not excited at the quasi-news? Does no one fear that he'll do what was done to Kingdom Hearts? Or even worse, given TWEWY is starting from a higher level of quality and uniqueness than the first KH game? I know the hope is unreasonable, but I nevertheless hope it's not something that has to be on the 3DS. The console alone and how Nintendo has handled it is enough reason not to buy the console, let alone the paltry lineup of game's it's supporting.

Nomura isn't even that involved with the series besides Character Design, I believe, so that isn't much of a concern.

I don't think I want that big of an anime or an anime at all. It'd be really unique but I loved the way the game's story was delivered. Showing it in a different format would be odd. I still have a hard time wanting this possible sequel.

Nomura is only one of four people who consist the creative team for TWEWY and the only official role he had in the game was character design. I doubt he has that much sway in the game's development besides giving an idea or two. He's also been saying "we've been thinking about another TWEWY" game for years now and nothing has really come of it.
Nomura is really just the figurehead for TWEWY because his name is the most recognizable by fans around the world.

TWEWY doesn't need a sequel. And if it has a sequel, I pray that the only recurring character is Mr. Hanekoma (maybe Josh), because as far as I can tell, he is the only one who could plausibly be there. There's no way that anyone could justify Neku and co. coming back into the game.
We'd need a new cast of characters, and even then, I feel like it would be a cheap knockoff of the first. So no, I don't want a sequel. Yes, I'm fine with the mystery that comes with knowing next to nothing about the other planes, about angels, and about the Reaper's Game as a whole.
Please, just let it be.

I DO want a sequel... but I want it to take place in a completely different place as it feels the fall out of Shibuya's Game.
I'm really not sure how they will work Neku into a sequel, but that might be the point of him being in KH3D. He's the main character, people see him in there, they spread the news, people get interested and now the "install" base for a sequel (Neku or not) is larger then before.

If Neku would be the main character in a sequel, I seriously doubt we'd just get another game. It'd pretty much be the same thing in a new area. Heck, the Reaper's Game in the first TWEWY was itself far from average.
I'd assume a plot for a possible sequel would go more in depth with the angels and the higher plane. IIRC Mr. H is now rogue and was telling the Composer how "there's gonna be problems upstairs" or something along those lines.
I still think there are more possibilities for a prequel involving Neku's friend (giving Neku a cameo chance). Kariya also mentioned there was a time where they held the Reapers Game twice in a row in the past. It could have just been a random pointless time or it could be tied to Neku's friend.

In TWEWY, when u defeat noise, whatever brand u happen to be wearing as u defeat them becomes more popular in the area that you fought them in. Equip the red pin (it doesn't actually do anything in battle but just equip it anyway) and keep fighting all the noise in that area and you should be good to go.

Does anyone have any tips on how to beat minamimoto or whoever he is (week 2 day 7 boss) on TWEWY? I dont seem to be doing any damage to him and he's just wearing me down over time. Any advice?

Just got through the game...well, I watched a playthrough on YouTube. I used to have a game, and I had too much difficulty with it. Eventually, I sold it to a friend. I didn't even realize there was more after Shiki.
Anyway, the game has such an amazing story. I never felt so much of connection with my own thoughts and feelings with a game before. Part of me wants more, but another doesn't. I'm just not sure if Square ever could top this game with a sequel.

Well it's a pretty hard system to get used too, that's for sure. Just fight noise over and over until you get the hang of the stylus movements.

from the character developpment to dialogue to battle style to soundtrack.
really unbelievable. all the workers at gamestop kept raving about this game, and i didnt get what they were saying until i actually tried this game. call me zetta slow..

and i knew that it wasnt her own body she was in. but i really hope that picture isn't her. it just looks too much like a guy to me. someone with a beautiful personality like shiki's, in this spectrum, deserves some outer beauty as well as inner beauty. and there is room for this since we dont really know whast she looks like.

I need to get some Dark Matter to make scarletite to unlock Ultimate Mode, but every guide I've seen says that to get Dark Matter(well shadow matter too) that you need to defeat whatever at Ultimate...which is what I'm trying to unlock. Is there anything I can defeat at Hard or less to farm shadow/dark matter for scarletites?

you'll get used to the battle system, and you dont even have to control the top screen (it starts to do it for you if you dont press any buttons) but trust me, its worth it

Finished the game yesterday afternoon! I plan on working my way through the post-game content during this weekend.
I take it's okay to talk about spoilers, so I'll say that the reveal about Joshua didn't surprise me at all, but I would never have expected what was exactly going on. Also, the last battle was quite disappointing with how easy it was.

i liked that the battle was somewhat easier. there are still harder bosses (you can even raise the difficulty on any boss).
and if i couldnt beat the final boss. i wouldve rage quitted and never actually witnessed the endning of the game (like me and KH1)

But that wouldn't make sense since it is called Subarashiki Kono Sekai/It's A Wonderful World in Japan. They wouldn't need to register The World Ends With You again, unless it was just a form of protecting a name like what was done with FFXIII-3 and Final Fantasy Haeresis XIII and Type-1, Type-2.

So I just bought the game and beat the first chapter. Just some first impressions:
The best thing that ties this game together is honestly the character interactions and attitudes that blend together. So far, I've only met Shiki and Neku, but just how they were forced to meet because of the Reaper's Game was a funny, yet a totally unexpected social greeting you'd might find in your own life's social interactions. Nomura's character development in this game really expresses how opposites can really bring out the inner qualities inside people.
On another note, the artwork and music! really tie the game together. Square Enix can prove that it doesn't take well developed 3D models like in Final Fantasy games or Kingdom Hearts games to make a well produced game. In fact, I bought the game because user reviews expressed the game as a delight because of the story. I've always loved a good story in any game despite if the game is using sprites or 3D models.
Also, very happy they added support for left handed users! The game was meant for the DS, but I am playing it on the 3DS. It's a game that adapts and relies on the stylus the most. I was a bit worried since I am left handed, but then I learned that I could control the character (Shiki at the moment) with the A,B,X,Y buttons which definitely made life easier. The Circle pad does deliver some functionality, but it doesn't work in all parts of the game.

Those are exactly what I loved about the game too, it was just so well executed and unique, the story has real meaning, and the characters all interact amazingly and are themselves amazing <3 I LOVE the character development in this game especially.

I was broke, and I needed a few bucks, I was near a gamecrazy store, so I walked in and got myself $2.
beat the whole game anyway, was really stupid of me, but I was really sick at the time and wasn't in my right mind lol

Two years ago when I had a DSlite I had an R4 card and I had TWEWY on it. Sold my DS to get a DSiXL and then couldn't use my R4 Card anymore, so couldn't complete TWEWY. So, when I got a Gamestop gift card for Christmas, I ordered it online two days ago. >:3
Now, I must wait 5-8 days to experience the awesome.

I totally agree! Even if a sequel falls out compared to the original, I'm usually glad that they ventured instead of just leaving it. TWEWY has such an interesting concept and there is so much that could be worked with, with the concepts/logic of the world.

Second impressions:
Ok, now I'm on Day 5. I've learned quite a lot about the Reaper's game and the surrounding players around Neku and Shiki. Rhyme and Beat are another set of characters that are quite opposite. Rhyme is the nice, yet cute and logical player that is willing to work with others to met the day's objective. Beat is the stereotype of the typical skateboarder. He doesn't want people in his face and won't take shit from anyone, especially the emotions shared between Neku and Beat, which one could describe not the best first impression in a social greeting.
Rules, rules, rules. As you progress through the days, more rules apply to the game. The food you eat, the clothes you wear, and the pins you use are now becoming seriously important in the battle system. Also your partner gets more powerful as you progress through the game with counter attacks and special attacks are useful if you have lots of Noise around. (Especially those damned Tadpole Noise that slow you down!) Although more rules are added to make a more complicated battle system, it's very easy grasp after some practice. The battle system can take some time to get used too because it's so unique and essentially your controlling two different characters on two screens. You need to flicker your eyes on both screens constantly to ensure that both players have a good amount of health and focus on special attacks to take out the Noise faster for a better battle letter grade. (You earn a battle letter grade after each battle.)
Now tis the time I beat this game :)

I...didn't know this. It isn't like we talk to you on a daily basis about your wii. Why did you sell your Wii? Was it to get the 3DS? I know you work so why don't you save money to buy a 3DS again and your games. It feels like a waste going back and forth buying and selling things.

Alright Ethy I'm sorry I didn't know that you didn't know. Ok I sold my 3DS because my mom Broke my Wii when she tripped over it, and at the time I wanted a game that was just coming out a few weeks later. But when I got the game, I felt so bad, because I worked so hard to get the 3DS, and it was guilt, so I sold all my Wii/games to get back my 3DS. Now the reason why I sold my 3DS a 2nd time was because I was so convinced of getting the PS Vita, but then I did some information hunting and realized it was a stupid idea, so I took all my christmas money and rebought the 3DS, but this is the last and final time that I'm going to sell my 3DS.

I control both usually on the normal difficulty. After 10 game overs or so, I'll switch to easy just to get pass. Ugh, I am at a point where I need to grind.

It's pretty jumpy (from what I remember), I don't think your rom is bad. Keep playing the game, you'll be able to tell sooner or later.

I would definitely look for it on amazon/ebay/etc., if you can shop online. The game really does depend a lot on the touch screen, so you'll get a way better experience if you actually have the game.
Of course, if you don't have a DS, that's a different story. But I would say this game pushed the DS's limits, more than any other that I've played for sure. Definitely a worthwhile purchase

I don't think he is. Pretty sure Joshua has been the Composer for quite some time. He is also older looking normally, but changes his form to that of a 15 year old.
I thought something similar but there is too much that goes against it. If there is a sequel, I can imagine that friend coming into play somehow.

Secondly, the game uses the DS's unique functions way too much for you to have a decent experience with it on an emulator. Thirdly, I hate to sound like a self-righteous anti-pirate (because I'm not), but SE did such a good job on this game that it would just be... wrong to pirate it like that. So if you don't want it enough to get your hands on the real game, don't play it at all. I highly recommend playing it for real though.

Keep looking in your local(or non-local if you're travelling for these holidays) GAME, EBGames, Target, and Big W stores for it. If you honestly can't find any, talk to the people there and see if they can order you a copy.I stole the game from my sister since I borrowed her DS for Re:Coded and her DS games/anime DVDs are in my room(long story, don't ask) and played it. Honestly, it was better than I expected(Though it took me some time to learn how to work the map properly. I didn't get for a while that going left meant going up or down on the map).

It's hard to know exactly how much power Joshua has. It would be hard to say that he's Jesus, especially considering (at least, I would say) Neku is a much more Christ-like character than Joshua is. Also, I'm pretty sure that Mr. Hanekoma is higher up in rank than Joshua. If I remember correctly, Josh is just head of the reapers. There are beings on higher planes than him (Angels), with much more power.

[spoiler=Stuff]In Shibuya he is pretty much like a God, but he still reports to a higher being (that being the Producer who is an Angel, or in Mr. H's case, a Fallen Angel). So no.
There are a ton of Angels in the Higher Plane that are probably extremely stronger than Joshua...
His name is supposed to be a clue for you to figure out Joshua is something not exactly all that human. Then there are the deeper readings into the name.[/spoiler]

Reasons I do/don't want a sequel. The world of TWEWY seems so well thought out, so spectacular. I don't want to get a game that cheapens that image, falling short of the promise TWEWY has shown. I would rather just speculate the heck out of the game until my brain explodes, I don't need a game to do that for me.

i beat the game, i started to come up with the theroy as i was getting the last of the secret reports, the one from the "another day"part of the game. i know the thory is kind of far fetched, but its how my mind tried to peice the werid parts together.

If you leave your DS in Mingle Mode, it'll eventually find a random Alien or something like that which gives you...100 MPP, I think? Just leave your DS plugged in and you'll get some points.

While I love the original gang, I feel their story could be tainted if continued.
And, seeing the Reaper's Game in other part's of the world could really flesh out the series' universe. (I think Seattle could fit really well as the setting.)

But, it's hugely populated, has great music and art everywhere (there's a street dedicated to graffiti that'd be amazing to see in TWEWY), bunches of shady figures on every corner, and lots of businesses, big and small. Reminds me of how TWEWY portrays Shibuya tons. :3

edit: Also, I think the closest thing we have (in America, at least) to a Shibuya is New York City. I feel like it would be pretty hard to argue otherwise, especially considering the hustle and bustle of New York life, the jumbotrons, and the layout of the city all seem very similar to what we see in game.

You know, it's funny. I ranked up this pin and half way through ranking it up, it evolved on me lol. Peace Full turned into Thanx, which actually really helped for the final boss.
Finally beat the game, but I felt like a few things we're left up to the imagination to figure out the true ending. Honestly, this is one of the better RPG games I've played in a while.

Replaying all the days now, trying to get all the reports. Some of the conditions I don't understand. When it tells you to defeat a boss noise on hard or higher, I do it but I still don't get the report. Do I have to make the boss drop a rare pin or something?

I finally beat this, and yes I only played it because of KH:DDD, but after I heard all the rave reviews about it, I picked it up. I thought the final bosses would be difficult, but the only one that was difficult was the final final boss. I had to fight him on easy. Overall this game was really good, mostly the story, I thought the battle system was meh, It was too annoying and will probably be the way I eventually get arthritis. The concept of pins was interesting and liked all the characters except Joshua, he came across as too gay to me. I have nothing against gay people, I just thought the way he presented himself was kinda of feminine and cocky, which annoyed me. Overall though he wasn't that bad, he did end up being an interesting twist when we find out who he is, but I kinda saw it a mile away. This will be the first Square game I have beaten other than the Kingdom Hearts series. Its funny, I've gotten very far in FFIV The Complete Collection, FFVII, FFIX, and FFXIII, but have yet to beat any of them. I get too distracted or stuck that I end up giving up or having to watch a Let's Play. IV to me would be almost impossible without one, its considered the hardest Final Fantasy game if I'm not mistaken. Back on topic, overall The World Ends With You was a very good game, great characters, great story, unique gameplay and customization. I give it 9/10. 1 point off for the battle system hurting my hands. lol

Wow dude, I'm sorry it evolved, because Peace Full is so much better than Thanx. 5 heals for 50% each as opposed to 3 heals for 30% each.

I keep Splish Slash Barrier and my first favorite offensive pens in. (the 5 I'm most comforable using that are also strong). I got close to dying, but whenever I did, I used Splish Splash Barrier to heal. It's not limited, like a potion or something, so as long as it's reloaded I can heal and get back to fighting without dying suddenly. :3

It takes like three days to finish the story. Maybe a few extra days to do the bonus stuff if you want 100% and the Secret Ending.
You can generally find it for $19 on sites, but keep in mind it is hard to find depending on where you are looking.

Some people have been discussing the rumored new game to the TWEWY universe, and while a sequel would be neat, I think a prequel would be amazing. There are a lot of subtle hints in the game to something huge that had happened before the game's story, namely with Neku and whatever happened to his friend, whatever game Kariya mentions that happened for more than a week, and a certain someone's rise to the title of Composer.

Quick question: I'm running back through trying to get all the reports, but I'm getting stuck on the challenges that require you to defeat blue noise symbols (bosses) on hard or higher. They take out my health just fine, but I can barely make a small dent in theirs. Any suggestions on what pins to use/how high my level should be?

Only use mastered pins. Check the stats for each pin and only use the strongest ones but make sure they are ones that are easy to use and that you are already comfortable with. Also keep in mind that many of the stronger pins are Reaper or Angel class and you can only have one of each of those. Keep a good healing pin handy, preferably the one with the smiley face (I forget the name). Wear your best threads. Especially ones that give you more fusion stars at the start of battle. Build up your fusion stars and hit the boss with a fusion attack. This can save you in a pinch since it heals your hp. You should at least be at level 50 but for some of the harder blue noise, you might want to be around 70.

Ugh, this means a ton of level grinding. As for the pins, I've mastered most of the ones that I have, but they aren't Reaper or Angel pins; I got most of them relatively early in the game, got comfortable using them, and never bothered to try anything else. ...And the only healing pin I have is the one Rhyme gives you. Better get to work on that. Thanks, Juggernaut! :)

You could just equip the pin, save the game, and then set your DS's date forward a week. Saves you a hell of a lot of grinding.

That only levels up the pins. If you want to level up Neku, you'll have to do some grinding. But leveling up only increases HP. If you want to raise other stats, you need to wear better threads and collect stickers. To get better threads and collect stickers, you need Yen and trading items. To get that, you have to grind.

Got it. I knew the level grinding would only help with health, but I'm seriously lacking in that anyway so I don't mind level grinding for that. The pins are tougher for me because, like I said, I sort of just stuck with my bare-basics ones and maxed them out. So getting some better pins and then maxing them out would take a while; if I can use Orion's shortcut on those, at least that cuts some time off it. I've got pretty decent threads already, and I bought all the stickers I could find. I'm thinking more stickers open up as you acquire a better relationship with the shopkeepers (definitely helps with threads, anyway) and fulfill quest objectives?

I haven't gotten all the stickers yet myself. I still have one report left to get, the one from Another Day. When you're grinding, try handicapping your level to increase the drop rate so you can get more prizes and playing at higher difficulty levels to get better prizes.
I know befriending shopkeepers can be a drag. A lot of times I found myself buying lots of duplicates and things I didn't need just to max out the relationship. It's really too bad you can't sell back threads like you can with pins.

I think I got all of the reports for week one, and half the ones in week two. That's about where the "defeat * on hard or above" started, so I went to other days and just did the more benign tasks that were required. I'd actually forgotten you could adjust the level like that; I'll try it. (I've forgotten a ton of the gameplay aspects since my last playthrough, apparently...)
So far I've only managed to 100% befriend Mr. H and the guy that runs the ramen place, for obvious reasons. Every time I buy the most expensive outfit I can find, it only raises the meter by a few percent and I eventually lost patience. Although the clothing you wear effects the power behind certain pins of the same brand, so you really have no choice but to get a good collection anyway.

I always wanted a sequel, but I think a prequel would rock, too. There's a lot that some of the characters *coughkariyacough* mention that allude to events before the game, but that we never actually know about, and there are some characters *coughkariyacough* who know WAY more than everyone else and who I'd love to see answers about, dammit!
Or a sequel/prequel going more in-depth with the things discussed in the Secret Reports, because damned if I don't love the cosmology in the game and would love to see more. So many answers that make me want to ask even more questions!

So I just started playing the game, never thought it would be so fun - and I am only on day 3! Also I have listened to the original versions of the songs in KH3D (just Twister, Calling and Someday right?) and I prefer 3D's Twister, but the original Calling just leaves 3D's on the dust. Someday is pretty cool on both versions, and I am surprised at how they managed to make such a fast piece into a more calm and relaxing version in 3D.
TWEWY's soundtrack is pretty kickass overall. I swear to god, the most epic music I heard in gaming is from Square Enix. So what are your favourite songs in TWEWY? I have listened to the soundtrack and Calling takes the prize for me. Also any tips to fighting on both screens? Day 2 boss almost wiped the floor with me >.<

It's an abbreviation of Subarashiki kono sekai which is the Japanese title of The World Ends with You. The timer is wired to your computer's date/time.

That's literally all we know currently that could lead to another game. Pretty much everything else not stemming directly from this fact as blind conjecture, if not just your own personal wishes masquerading as you 'thinking' something 'might' happen. Aside from that, your 'idea' is just as likely as everything else given its relative baselessness, so there's no reason to even suggest it alone over theoretically anything else.

In the "another day"part of the game, Mr.Hanekoma seemed to suggest that they were going to need Neku strength again. and also lets not forget that Sho Minamimoto is still alive so he might be kicking up some trouble.

However, if you've played certain parts of Another Day you'd know the worlds are connected (feels like I'm talking about KH right now) due to Joshuas traveling between them. Yes they are linked. The universe itself may be canonical because of those links, but the events are non-canonical due to not being in the actual universe TWEWY occurs in.
Auron is shown to possibly be the only FF character in Kingdom Hearts that isn't an AU version but the actual Auron, but that doesn't make KH2 Olympus Coliseum canon to FFX. In the same way, the secret reports don't make the Another Day canon to the main game.
Also when a game straight-up tells you it's non-canon, it's non-canon.

Another Day is most definitely canon, it's just in an another universe. Joshua traveled to the Tin Pin universe to hide during week 3. The story in Another Day has no major bearing on the plot, though.

I should clarify myself in saying that Another Day is non-canon: The only parts of it that become canon are in the second Joshua, and other moments where there are explicit cross-overs from the main universe to the AD one. Outside of that, the AD Shibuya has no bearing on the campaign one.

TWEWY's gameplay pretty much requires two screens, so I doubt we'd see it on any other system than 3DS.

Just 3DS. The options offered with the precision and speed of the stylus is needed for The World Ends With You. Anything else is insufficient and would reduce the quality of gameplay - the Vita would be slower and less precise with its finger-poking, the Wii is generally slow and imprecise, the Kinect would be horrid for the necessary actions, and the PS Move would be only slightly better than the Wii.

Look I loved the original and loved the 2D sprites and music, not saying its a bad game, but it could be so much better if they brought it a new console with new functions kind of like the PS Vita, it has touch screen on the back and front.

For me TWEWY is about 3 things: Story, Music and Gameplay. Remove one of those and it is only 2 thirds as good - not acceptable. TWEWY is really a game that will always shine on the DS systems and fail horribly in any other.

You could have the exact same game on 3DS and Wii U, because they both have two screens, but a game like TWEWY, which focuses on the touch screen the most, would be bad on Wii U.
With a console game, because it's a console, the TV screen really has to be the main focus. The touch screen will have to be a second thought, used to compliment the main screen. With the 3DS though, you can have the main screen be either because they are right next to each other and can be paid attention to simultaneously.

The Vita not having enough good games is not even close to a good reason to put a TWEWY game on it. That's just selfish. In deciding what system to put a game on, developers should use the system that will take the game to its fullest potential. So as stated before, it should be 3DS.
But really, we still don't know if this even is going to be a new game. Could be an anime or something. Or a new remix soundtrack. I'd be happy to see the series expand in any way.

Except most countdown sites have been iOS/mobile ports and browser games, bar Army Corps of Hell and some other game I don't remember. I think it is still really fishy 1st PD tweeted it and the translator is trying to keep hope. *shrug*

Don't expect it to get lower anytime in the near future. This is a port of a full-length game with a ton of improvements, so it will stay its listed price for quite awhile.
...Unless you haven't played the game at all. If not, you can buy the DS version from a seller (since it seems Amazon's recently promised new shipment of TWEWY that is to come the 28th has since been purchased and now out of stock again)

I wouldn't find it a disappointment considering it gets the game out to a bigger audience who otherwise might not have been able to play the game. I cans see where you're coming from, though. I was angry a few days ago when they leaked the iOS thing

I have no clue. On the download, I'd assume you can't have the same iPad app on your iPhone since the specs are different. On the save, I believe it is all tied to your Game Center so...maybe?

I've literally scoped around my city for any sign of this game, every store and I get the same thing, "We don't have it in stock and it seems not getting any for a while." That could possibly be because of the increased demand compared to when I bought it. They had to actually order a new shipment and the release of TWEWY -SOLO- will only add to that

I do fine with inputs, just...I'm definitely not as fast with just my finger than I was with a stylus (or my nail when I needed to improvise) on my DS/3DS. Not complaining, though. I'm rather surprised the inputs for pins are still doable.
I'm loving that they have the full tracks of songs, and that the tracks they had removed from the English version are in this version. I'm waiting to hear some new songs, though. *ready for new songs*

I'm personally looking into replaying TWEWY, I already bought it but first I wanted to push it on my boyfriend and other various friends before I try to perfect it. I'm getting impatient hahaha.
It's probably one of my biggest regrets letting my ex convince me to sell it. ;3; I bought it when it was brand new and everything, too...

the fact that its still able to stay around in the 100's after the discounted amazon price is sold out is really amazing, even when it sold out the first time and got out of the 100's i remember it was still in the 110's to 130's being sold by over price 3rd part sellers. that's really impressive for a niche ds game that came out years ago

I just bought this game a little over a week a go, and beat it in less than a week. It was amazing. I loved the story and the gameplay. The battles were hard at first, but I stuck with it and got better as time went on. I hope a sequel or spin-off actually happens.

The game was made with a lot of love and you can see it in the well-crafted story. It's great you got the chance to play it!
Well there is definitely a "spin-off" of sorts with TWEWY -Live Remix-, which is a social mobile game that takes place in one of the many alternate universes that exist within the whole TWEWY universe.
Then there is a hint of a sequel at the end of TWEWY -Solo Remix-, the iPhone/iPad port of TWEWY.

It being on the DS before made it limited to the audience, therefore sales probably weren't perfect. But releasing on iOS seems to be doing quite well.

Players choose to play as one of many familiar characters from the original game and join together in teams of 20 to be pitted against an opposing team. Over the course of a week, your team travels throughout Shibuya, defeating Noise to rack up points (there are more powerful opponents known as Ringleader Noise that grant more points). At the end of the week, the points are tallied and the winners of the Reapers' Game are announced.
In a nutshell, it's really very similar to Kingdom Hearts x[chi].

Live Remix is very well done and it plays similar to TWEWY, but with a lot of social game elements. As is KHx. They were both directed by Tatsuya Kando, director of TWEWY and a key staff member for the KH series. Definitely check Live Remix out if you have a iOS or Android device. (idk if the Android version is region free like the iOS version, though...)
and KHx is a web browser game so you can make a Yahoo JP ID and play it.

Well, that certainly clears that up a lot! It sounds super interesting! I have a dumbfone and am not sure what to get next. Still, I may buy a game system for a certain game, but idk about doing that with my phone. It sounds fun, but I just think mobile games are not as good an experience. I don't hate them, but I guess I just don't appreciate them yet.

(and i guess coco counts, though she is in live remix)

Yes, yes, thank you for the tip. I can see in Amazon that it is being sold less than $25. This game has a lot of replay value. I remember trying to get all of the Secret Reports but rage-quit after trying to defeat Megumi Kitaniji on the harder difficulties.

Yeah, farming for points or even just farming for materials like Dark Matter was irritating. I got really lucky and found somebody at a convention who had attached all of the Black Planet pins + some other rare pins to their Mingle profile so I bought it from their shop and didn't need to get as much Dark Matter as I would have needed to unlock them.

It's pretty logical. Nomura has his hands full with FF XV and KH3. Everyone else, or at least the majority, of the people that worked on TWEWY are also working on FF XV. I'd hate it if they'd announce TWEWY 2 now, knowing that those 2 games need to be worked on first.

Not necessarily. TWEWY was developed by JUPITER and the last active project we've heard of from them is Pictlogica Final Fantasy.
It's worth mentioning that Tatsuya Kando, one of the directors of the original TWEWY as well as both Solo and Live Remix (the latter of which will be terminated in February), doesn't seem to have as much on his plate asides from overseeing the Success Inc. team with KHx.

Like Sign said, JUPITER developed TWEWY (there are a few people who left JUPITER and joined SE and now work in Osaka, though) Those people aren't working on FFXV at all. Maybe those who left JUPITER are working on KH3, but no not FFXV.
Also Nomura is just creative producer. While his role in TWEWY was extremely important since he helped to create the characters and build the concept, I think you should be directing your attention to Tatsuya Kando and Hiroyuki Ito (not the FF dev, the other one) who were the directors of TWEWY.
If a TWEWY2 were to come, you'd be hearing it from them. Maybe Nomura would be there since he already said he wanted a sequel, but let's not give all of the credit to him or reason the lack of a TWEWY2 on his projects.

Yeah, I honestly always mix up whatever role Nomura had for TWEWY and I remember back in the day reading on the box of TWEWY "from the people who brought you Kingdom Hearts" so I just put 1 and 1 together.
In any case, I guess I'm more okay with the idea of a sequel knowing that some of those who worked on the first one don't have much work atm. In the end, the only thing I want (and everyone else) is a fun game that gets as much care and work put into it as the original.

The microtransactions were reasonable. There is no guarantee if they localized it that it would have succeeded, but I do think there is a larger TWEWY audience internationally than in Japan so it certainly could have kept the game running longer just because of a larger population of users.

Fair point. If my source is of any merit, then TWEWY sold, approximately, double the amount of Japan here in North America.

When your almost at the edge, use the finger move, it saves you. The point of this game is to ring out your opponents pins, use all of the moves that you have. Your just gonna have to get used to it, once your used to it, you know now what to do and how to beat your opponent in Tin Pin Slammer.

When your almost at the edge, use the finger move, it saves you. The point of this game is to ring out your opponents pins, use all of the moves that you have. Your just gonna have to get used to it, once your used to it, you know now what to do and how to beat your opponent in Tin Pin Slammer.

The World Ends With You is one of the most interactive games that I have ever played. And it has a nice story. It's one of the best games ever! :D Though I can say Kingdom Hearts is still my number one favorite game, but also The World Ends With You is really my second favorite game with an incredible story and all the interactions for the DS and Neku learns that having friends can be fun. :)

So basically if I get it will I be able to save what I've done in the situation, like say for example, I get a different iphone when it comes time to upgrade my plan?
Basically is there a way to back it up for transfer later?

Yeah. It's really fun but not worth it unless you know for sure that you won't be giving up your phone for many years to come.

I'm on Android (Android>iOS <3) so I can't exactly help but it's possible to back up/restore anything and everything (game saves, texts, call logs, etc) on a rooted device. Maybe there's a solution through Cydia?

Yup it does. There are tons of jailbreaking guides/YouTube videos littered on the internet. It's a fairly simple process and it's incredibly easy to "unjailbreak"
I'm presuming you have an older iPhone so voiding the warranty should be moot at this point.

It's old news, and probably has been discussed here, but I did some digging and found a response from SquareEnix on the secret ending from Solo Remix.
"I don’t believe that talking a lot about it is necessarily a good thing. I think what is important is the feeling that the players got when they saw that ending. Joshua, who has watched Neku grow up first hand, may have discovered the hope of the possibility of Shibuya changing. There are hints about the story scattered throughout the game, and so I’m sure it would be fun if you connect those pieces and think about them," the team replied.
That was well over a year ago too.
Man I really miss the feeling going through this for the first time in 2008. If they ever announced anything with this for the 3DS I might die.

Yes, yes they should! The major reason I keep any kind of DS is solely to keep my TWEWY alive! (oh yes I love it that much) And I finally have a phone capable of that cloud stuff as of yesterday so some transferable love would be nice.

That right there is a big reason why I'm not a fan of mobile gaming beyond Tetris or Mahjong.
I also have an Android so I'm forever bitter over the game having only been available on iOS.

Ishimoto will always be the composer. The point as that he was not going to make any more remix albums for the game. Any music for TWEWY would be new or covers done by The Death March, an official Square Enix project band by Ishimoto.
As for a game...well that is something Kando, Hazama, and Nomura will have to work out.

If they can milk their other series with sequels or spin-offs then they should give TWEWY a shot. It has the means for a sequel/spin-off that is done right on the 3DS could be almost or just as good as the original.

Things have been silent on the status of a sequel to The World Ends With You ever since the iOS/Android re-release of the game that contained a special secret image, however the game has gotten a little representation in one of Square Enix's beloved franchises, the Theatrythm franchise. Accessible as two DLC songs in Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy Curtain Call, players in Japan can download both "Twister" and "Calling" and fight enemies in the familiar city of Shibuya.
Thanks to @ArikaMiz for the images above, you can see the purchase screen where players can select to purchase the DLC, as well as the song "Twister" being played. This content is only available for Japanese players at the moment, but with the recent addition of extra DLC in America, it should be joining us very soon!
It's interesting to note that while there have been many Square Enix franchises chosen to become DLC in this game, notably Xenogears, Romancing Saga, and Bravely Default Flying Fairy, Kingdom Hearts has yet to have representation in Theatrhythm form. Do you believe Square Enix and Disney have something prepared in regards to a Theatrhythm: Kingdom Hearts?

Square Enix has been borrowing from KH for years. Dissidia, the Avatar Style, Theater Parade turned Theatrhythm. I need TKH now.

I wish TKH was a thing long before TDQ aswell.
I expect now though they're just going to wait until as close to KH3's release as possible before making TKH a real thing, so they can put in a few tracks from that right away.

I would also be interested for Theatrhytm version of Kingdom Hearts. There are so many good songs, and now with the remastered tracks, you could unlock both the original ones and the remastered ones. Also the are the piano collection ones. I would buy A KH Thearhytm in an instant.

If they made KH Theatrhythm, they had better put The Cave of Rememberance as a field song and The 13th Struggle as a battle song into the game. I can only imagine playing the 13th Struggle on Extreme. I would fail miserably. :biggrin: Lol

In a press release statement, Square Enix has confirmed that the iPhone and iPad versions of the game have been removed from the App Store and can not be purchased at all. If you have already downloaded the game or use an Android product, you can still access it completely, but the game appears to lack compatability with iOS 8.0 and it appears you can not download it even with a purchase.

In case you were unaware, Solo Remix was released on iOS worldwide on August 27, 2012 and was a port of the DS version of the game, although it had changes to make it playable on one screen. The Remix was also popular as it included a secret image which hinted at a potential sequel, although nothing of the sort has come to fruition. This discontinuation comes just one year after the Live Remix social game was discontinued.

It was only removed from the App Store for Apple products due to Square Enix not making it iOS 8.0 compatible.

t's kinda stupid that they most likely took it off the app store because of that compatibility issue, when I read in an article a couple weeks ago that on jailbroken devices they found a way to get it around the issue... Screwy.

Square Enix, what are you doing? All that needed to be done was to fix where TWEWY was pulling source files from. Literally an hour of work and the app could have been right back up.
This is why they need to just port it to Vita and be done with it. They put Deadman's Cross on Vita and I hardly think they have a fanbase behind that game like TWEWY.
This is also why I'll never buy another game by Square Enix on a mobile device. The lack of continued support really kills things for mobile devices.

Glad to see that Square only sees mobile as an alternate source of income and not as a viable development platform worth investing effort in. As a mobile developer myself, I find this incredibly disheartening.
I hope they don't pull this shit on Android as well. They haven't bothered to make their games compatible with ART because devices running KitKat and below don't run it by default......even though ART has become the standard with Lolipop and beyond.

This is why I as a rule (I might break it for Secret of Mana) won't buy their mobile games myself (not to mention they are too expensive). It's also why with TWENY, I went with the original DS version. I figured that'd always work!

That's a hilarious blame game. They know updates happen. If they want to keep selling games on iOS, they need to keep updating their games and making sure they work with the latest OS. That is how it works.

It wouldn't really be an attempt to build the fanbase (and Vita has a very solid audience that would probably appreciate a game like TWEWY), but to have an option where the game won't be removed off of a digital store due to the game not being compatible with a latest OS.

Well in case they try to remove it from Android I'm glad I beat it first. I really like that game. Might pick up the DS version and see how different it is.

Honestly the least square can do is credit the apple users accounts if they're going to be lazy about updating. They shouldn't be allowed to walk away with their money like that.

Glad to hear it! I have heard so many good things about the game, especially about the story,and the characters look interesting(they were created by Nomura if I remember correctly?) . The soundtrack also sounds really good. I don`t know much about the combat, but I guess I will find out this weekend. :) Really glad that I am finally able to play this game. Ooh, and I can play it with my 3DS!

If you have any questions about how the gameplay works, there are a bunch of us that can help. For some people it clicks instantly and for others it is really confusing. I personally think it is the only game on the DS and 3DS that really makes use of both screens to its fullest potential.

This spoiler is nothing compared to how many times this game throws you for a loop. One moment you're sure one thing is true and the next you think it might be best if you changed your mind VERY quickly.

This sounds brilliant! So little similar to Bioshock: Infinte where I thought I knew how the story would progress, but then after awhile a had no idea how things would play out, and certain revelations changed everything about the world, and you had to think stuff differently.

I managed to complete TWEWY yesterday and whoa, what an amazing adventure that was! Amazing plot with cool twist and turns. Amazing characters that you really care about and want to learn more about them. Really amazing music, Ishimoto is so good! The art style of this game is unique and I have never seen anything like it before. I am now trying to decide do I try to get the secret reports myself, or just read them online.
Also you were right, one spoiler about Joshua did not ruin the adventure. :)
Did you guys had news a year back of some TWEW event? Now that I have played the game I really would like to read it.

Is any one else kind of afraid of TWEWY just kind of... fading into obscurity/cult classic status? Like, yeah I'm glad they haven't hella milked the series but like damn, the game did really well commercially and reception-wise that I'm slightly peeved at the lack of another entry (especially after that damn secret ending from the iOS port). But like, it's almost been ten years, and I feel like another generation of gamers may not even play this wonderful gem of a game and it will eventually just be that "cult classic but not popular anymore" franchise that then Square will be like "lol can't make a sequel now there's no one to buy it," which is why I think they should either do a sequel now [strike]or a TWEWY 3DS remake.[/strike]

I love all those twist and turns the story had to offer, and I some parts the story git pretty deep. Talking about human communication, individualism and etc... Man I love when games make you think about the world and how it really works.
I was also little surprised how dark and twisted the world in that game was(Joshua was creepy as heck!). It was positive surprise thou.

I just burst to laughter when Neku said this line:"I need more zippers." :D Oh Nomura, you and your zippers and belts.
The symbolism that was connected to the opening movie in the end was just so beautiful:[SPOILER=Symbolism]How in the beginning Neku pust his phones on, and want`s to be alone. In the end Neku has friends, and he takes off his headphones. And in the beautiful blu sky appears the text The World Begins With You.. just amazing [/SPOILER]
After playing TWEWY I just had to play Dream Drop Distance a little bit. I watched all the cutscenes with the TWEWY crew and man, I love DDD so much more know! DDD is my second favorite KH, but after playing TWEWY, I love it even more. They TWEWY crew fit there so well and now I understand all the TWEWY hints. Man, Traverse Town even has the CAT grafiti! Shibuya in KHIII, pls Nomura.

iOS port had a secret ending. Pretty much doesn't start until the last 7 seconds, since the rest is from the original.
In addition to that, however, we know Neku's Reaper Games aren't the first to ever happen, so it's possible we could see prequels and such. Plus, I believe some of the reports hinted at possible stories for other installments (but it's been so long since I layed it, so I could be wrong here).

Yeah, the story is by far still one of my favorite stories ever. The characters, the twists, how everything came together, the development - hell, TWEWY kind of comes off as an SE version of a Persona game. At least, to me it does.

I actually used to think TWEWY wouldn't fit in the series until the crew got announced for DDD. Now, I can't imagine Traverse Town without them. Shibuya really should return in KH3.

Great news for iPhone carriers. I completely forgot this was on Android. I may have to double-dip for my new Galaxy S6 Edge.

I got worried when it was pulled down but now it's back and that's good. Now where's TWEWY2~?
Also noteworthy; they just released an update for the Android version that makes it compatible with Android 5.0 Lollipop. That was a huge issue since people who purchased the game and upgraded to 5.0 (or people who purchased it with a device that already had 5.0) were suddenly unable to run the app any more.
Now I can finally continue my playthrough! I'm so freakin happy right now! I had been sending SE complaints about it for quite some time, even asking for them to do the update whenever they did surveys.
am i the only one who bleieves this game is highly overrated? Not to say the game is bad, because its not. although the beginning started a little cheesy. took a while to not get hung up on that beginning. I always ask "how does everyone know so much about the Reaper Games" whenever Neku makes a pact.
The style is great, but i see too much of one style, not enough diversity. that includes music. I wasn't a fan of the music, so hearing it constantly didn't give me a great feel.
The DS one was much harder, i liek the solo remix a little better.
