It looks more like Daybreak Town was wasted/destroyed, then flooded and had Scala built on top of the ruins.
Next time in union cross!
Makes you wonder what happened for Daybreak to end up like that.
Either way, I'd assume the whole "Angry look" issue Xigbar/Luxu has with Ventus most likely will originate from this chain of events rather than their one-off meeting in Birth by Sleep.
[/spoilers]
Spoiler ShowMakes sense. I always felt it was weird Xigbar would see Ventus in Xion even though he only ever saw Ventus once. Maybe Ventus got involved in Brains plan and accidentally or deliberately caused the incident?
Or Ventus is the Imposter? It's not as if we know who that is yet.
Next time in union cross!
I sort of think a large part of Nomura's process is throwing in random stuff and then figuring out what it means later when he writes the next game. He has contradicted himself in interviews and with what is presented in games and has evenly openly admitted that he doesn't always have the next story fleshed out and just throws random things in to keep people guessing. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have an explanation for this or if he doesn't even know what's in the box himself. I feel like he got drunk while watching that Spongebob episode about Patrick's secret box and thought it was gold material for his series.
I think in the earlier years that was the case, but he's had time to develop it and make it more fleshed out. Imo, of everything explained so far, nothing hasn't worked. What's been the worst has been the introduction of so many new things every single time. Like the epilogue and secret ending of KH3, just made MORE questions, from this point forward, I agree in that he's probably still making things up, but the problem is too many things in this game should have been developed more. KH3, while my fav game of the series so far, still seemed rushed. It was only announced completely finished at the end of Novemeber after all. It was, without a doubt, a KH game in every aspect we've seen from the past, including the terrible abridged versions of the Disney worlds. I think he's working too much on making the story as complex and detailed as he can and letting the thing that sparked the game in the first place fall to the wayside. It started out as using the Disney character because it was felt that they were the only ones who could compete with the popularity of characters like Mario and Link. While KH3 actually used the Disney worlds to progress the story, unlike KH2, there are still so many moments from their movies that could have been added to make the game what seemed to be promised. Bigger, more epic. Not just the literal size of the worlds. That's all we got. mostly empty spaces that, while gorgeous, are just bare. Aside from Olympus, which is mostly the climax of Hercules, Kingdom of Corona is the closest to a fully realized Disney world in KH3. Every other one is WAY too short, missing too many important details. (The Caribbean opens one scene with water splashing over the ship with NO explanation of why or how they actually realized how to get out of Davey Jones Locker). And the original stories are just too short. BBS did it better by having the 3 characters explore different parts of the story. FF characters were originally supposed to appear (as Tetsuya had hoped years ago) You look at just a few videos (both gameplay and interview/news) and you realize we were hyped to something way better than we got. While I feel it's still fantastic, it's very lackluster in terms of how much needs to be explained, followed up on, how much was left in secret for the future and how detailed the worlds can be. But that's the whole series at this point. I've loved it for nearly 17 years now, but if I drop off because of this money grubbing way of story telling, so be it. Can we just make some kind of petition to make sure the next game isn't a rushed mess? it seems like its already heading there thanks to Yozora.....
I understand your points, but KH3 is actually the one game in the entire series that actually left me with the least amount questions. All my questions have been answered and then some in this game, for better or worse. I never cared about the stupid box because it always seemed shoved in (I actually wasn't joking about Nomura seeing that Spongebob episode).
The whole Luxu is Braig/Xigbar explained his character perfectly in a nutshell and his declaration that his role is finished made it seem like a nice full-circle character arc that was appropriate to close off the saga. The secret ending established that Sora is still alive in some capacity and will continue to be the hero, which revealed more than the past secret endings.
But I guess what helps is that I'm done. I have no further interest in this series. Xehanort is dead, the universe is saved, and everything I cared about has been solved. Normura is a terrible writer who does not even remember his own story and I want no further part in this mess of a series. I enjoy Kingdom Hearts, but this is where the series ends for me.
I can see it going in an interesting direction. The Luxu bit is explained, but not much else involving that. I cared about the box because of Back Cover and the first trailers of KH3 with Maleficent and Pete looking for it. I'm just hoping that after the FF7 remake, he'll actually develop more. At this point, to me at least, it seems like he has an idea where he's going, as there are fewer questions that need answering and are integral rather than side stuff, like the girl Lea and Isa wanted to save. but there's still enough unanswered to make me wonder why KH3 went the way it did. Again, it seems rushed as it was only announced completed at the end of Nov and less than a month alter it was being leaked.
Now I have to ask you specifically, aside from the secret endings, how did KH1 leave you with more questions than 3??? hahaha That was designed as a stand alone and didn't have any other bits of the story thought up yet lol.
I think for me, the secret ending to KH1 was so much more thought provoking. That was because I had no idea who the characters were on screen. We had Roxas and Xemnas in that secret movie, but at the time, we had no idea who they were. Then you had quotes upon quotes that showed up on screen, each one a question in themselves. And the black coat, back when it was original and not something that almost every other character wore. Were these characters good or evil? The answer was both, but no one had any idea at the time. The secret movie in KH2 was similar; new characters in armor instead of a black coat and little phrases appearing: "Xehanort's memory", "Keyblade War" "Lost Two". Each phrase so thought provoking.
In KH3's secret movie, we have Sora and Riku right away and no quotes at all. Even quotes like "The Master's True Intentions" or "It was all a Lie" would've been great, but we got none of that. The secret movie establishes Sora is alive and Riku will be involved in some capacity, which is already answering some questions. We are very familiar with both characters, so nothing entices me there when I see them. The black coat has become a gimmick at this point, so it's not surprising to see someone wear it, and it's most likely either Luxu or MoM (who I think it is). Yes, we don't really know the context, but it's still more answers than questions when compared to past entries in my opinion. Even the environment wasn't surprising; KH1's secret movie had a city and Big Hero 6's environment was extremely similar.
I think it's partially conceptual, but also hinting that Final Fantasy worlds will finally be a part of the series, which would be admittedly cool, but not much more than that.
As for Maleficent and Pete, I was hoping for so much more. Pete seemed to have finally had enough of Maleficent's stupidity (the irony enough is brilliant), but nope they basically add nothing to the story. I really don't understand why they were part of the game. They did nothing.
Maleficent and Pete were the same in KH2. And I wanted to see them expanded on too, I agree on that.
When it comes to KH1, I do not know where you are from, but if America, I'd re-ask my question, but keep it to the original KH, not FM as the unknown was thought of after the fact and while CoM was in production, which introduced the org. The box, how the masters were able to return so easily, no Ava or MoM, how Sora was able to talk to Namine in The Final World who never had a heart to begin with and returned to Kairi as Roxas did too Sora, but he was nowhere to be found there, Where do Demyx and Luxord play into having ties to keyblades, obviously what the heck happened with Sora and apparently Riku for the secret ending to take place and how Kairi is alive and at home, what happens to Slinky and the other Toy Story characters, why are there two Baymax units in the game but not the tv series even though (I believe) it's supposed to be cannon to the franchise, like the stories for both Toy Box and Monstropolis, my list of questions goes on, unlike for KH1's lol
Considering what's stated in the KH III secret reports and the implications of the newest actually relevant Union Cross Update (read: Not worthless Disney filler) I would say that
either Luxu happened and he caused a massive catastrophe which killed all Dandelions except the leaders and the few we know to be in the present era like Marluxia, Larxene etc. who get banished from this worldline and lose their memories, mainly because the actions of the "virus" threaten the MoM's plans which Luxu feels obligated to fulfill or...
...the "virus", Brain/Blaine in his efforts to undermine the plans of the MoM and prevent another destiny poised towards "tragedy" accidentally destroys everything by himself and thus brings it about anyways.
Either way, I'd assume the whole "Angry look" issue Xigbar/Luxu has with Ventus most likely will originate from this chain of events rather than their one-off meeting in Birth by Sleep.

In the last minute, KHUx is just a money-grab, but the North American branch of Square Enix is treating the game too much of a money grab, and less so of a game.
