probly just to make them look more... devilish. i mean, pointy ears might be a simble of evil or demons or something... idk. just throwing that out there. maybe its hinting at a star trek or lord of the rings world? haha. thatd be great.
It's funny, I was thinking the same thing. The pointy ears does make MX look demon like. It makes him look tremendously evil.
I don't get it. In KH2 Xemnas has normal ears but in Days they are pointed?
All you guys preaching character design are gonna feel stupid when you figure out the real reason.

But there's no evidence to suggest that there is a significance. Does it REALLY matter that they have pointy ears... doesn't change the fact that (in relation to MX Xemnas Ansem and Xehanort) they're still the bad guys.
^ It could mean character with pointed ears are from the same species. And their ancestors would be from the same world, or have a special power or whatnot.
I think both him and Ansem SoD were retconned pointy eared in FM+ artworks.
I think the fact that they are retconned then proves the point of significance.
