The next game might simply be called Kingdom Hearts X

I kinda wish 2 and 3 had been subtitled instead, because part of the reason 3 had so much hype behind it (and people begging it to come out) was to have that magically "mainline" third game. If they had been subtitled, fans may have still recognized a "main" Sora game, but not only would there have been less pressure for KH3 to be mostly SDG, but maybe people would've just been waiting for "the next part of the story", rather than that big fat Roman numeral.

Ehhh, I'd say the biggest issue for all the hype 3 got besides the almost 15 years of wait time since 2 released (compared to the 4 years between 1 and 2) is the lack of console games throughout the years.
BBS is very much KH0 in everything but name but it was still a handheld game. Even if KH3 dropped the numbered title it would've still been hyped to hell and back because it's the first proper console game we had since 2, if we don't count 0.2 on the 2.5 pack.

Oh God... seeing Re:X just gave me an idea for the next game.
It will tell not the false tales of the X era from unknown sources, but it will be the REtelling of the TRUE events of X.

Haha, but in all seriousness, as much as I would like the next Saga to be KINGDOM HEARTS χ, I don't think it'll happen. And honestly, in Nomura's head canon, I presume he calls KINGDOM HEARTS by the title he's used before: Reconnect

I've been referring to the next game as KH※ (have to look up reference mark when I don't have it copied) and if you don't count 0.2 as a full game (or don't count the chi saga, idk) it could be considered the tenth, so they might even use the reference mark. But I think it'll still have some elegiac subtitle. Something that emanates grace and power. I don't think they'll go with something ponderous, as mysterious as the game seems from what we've got to go on. Yozora is a king, and I think we'll finally start exploring Sora's royal destiny too. Perhaps the reference mark is a reverence mark.
