Re: Obliviónis Tredecim (DDD Spoilers, Post KH3) Ch.13 part 2
A light. That was all he could see. It was bright and warm. Something about the light felt familiar to him; even though he had just been born. While gaining knowledge about his existence and his abilities, he knew what the light was. It was the setting sun. For some reason seeing the sun made him feel strong, but while he looked at the sun he saw the moon above it.
Seeing the moon made him think about someone like him. “Tsuki.” Even though he had never met her, hef elt a connection between him and her. Upon speaking the girls name he opened his eyes. He found himself sitting on a pillar, and the area was bathed in a pale light. He noticed that someone was already up. Following suit, he and the rest of the twelve jumped down from their pillars.
He noticed he was rather short compared to the others, but that was the last thing on his mind. He waded through the group, until he found Tsuki. Although he didn’t say a word, he could see Tsuki smile at him from under her hood.
“Hello.” Sol said quietly. Although he could hear the others speaking, he didn’t pay attention tothem.
“Hello, you must be Sol. I’m Tsuki.” The young girl replied. Sol didn’t know what to say to her. He could tell there was a connection between them, but he didn’t know what it was. “Well, it’s nice to meet you.” The two stood in silence. Sol wasn’t sure what to ask her, or even say.
Suddenly the silence was broken when a burst of dark wind ripped through the area. “ENOUGH!” Sol looked to see that the wind came from one of the others. “Why are we just standing her talking!? We should belooking for the seven shards of light!”
The young boy was suddenly filled with fear. He could tell that the woman’s power far exceeded his own. “Hey! You shouldn’t yell at us.” Sol looked over at Tsuki.
The woman walked over to Tsuki and pushed down her hood. “What did you say to me?” Sol cowered by behind Tsuki, while the latter stood her ground.
“We’re all in this together. We shouldn’t be yelling at each other. We should be trying to figure out what to do next.”
Sol didn’t want to see her get hurt, so he decided to suggest something to her. “Tuski…maybe…you should keep quiet.” Before Sol could do anything else, the woman pushed him to the ground; knocking his hood down.
“Maybe you should take you own advice.” Sol watched as Tsuki raised her hand to number six, and the latter did the same. But before either could do anything, a blue trident was placed between them.
The young boy could see the intent to kill in number five’s eyes. “Why not fight someone with a little more power? Unless you’re scared?” He feared that the worst would happen to Tsuki; and worse he wouldn’tbe able to do anything to stop it.
But his fears were quickly put rest. Number ten appeared beside five and six, and placed his katana between them. He followed by grabbing number five and pointing her toward the heart shaped moon behind them. Sol watched as the intent to kill left number five’s eyes.
Number ten walked over to number one, and threw the latter over his shoulder. He then walked down a path; away from the others.
Sol wasn’t sure what to think of what had happened. While he was glad that Tsuki wasn’t hurt, he learned just how weak he was; at least compared to the others. He wondered if there was any way to increase his power, but he did not want to that to become thirteen. He wanted to be strong to protect Tsuki.
“We should follow them. They’ve probably found thirteen by now.” Oculus said. Sol watched as the others nodded in agreement, so he did so as well. Sol walked beside Tsuki, and the group walked down the same path number ten did.
While they walked, everyone introduced themselves, and talked about their abilities. Oculus told them about the members that weren’t present. Sol told them that his power was defensive techniques. He could create barriers, as well as give boosts in others abilities; speed, strength ect. He also told them that his powers would only work when the sun was out, but since their realm didn’t have a day and night cycle his powers worked all of the time.
“That’s odd.” Tsuki said.
“What is?” Ignis asked.
“My powers are offensive techniques. And my powers only work at night.” Tsuki said while looking over at Sol.
This made Sol wonder exactly what his connection toTsuki was, but before he could say anything, Ignis spoke up. “Maybe you two are brother and sister.”
“You think so?” Sol said, while looking at Tsuki.
“Think about it. You two look identical to each other. And your powers complement each other perfectly. You guys are probably twins.”
Sol smiled at his sister. He liked Ignis’s logic. It would explain why he cared so much about Tsuki.
Tsuki was about to say something to her Sol, but sheheard Mizu ask Oculus something. “Oculus, what do you know about thirteen?” Sol too wondered what thirteen was like.
“I don’t know. I can see him, just like I can all of you. But I don’t know what his abilities are, or what he even wants.” Oculus replied.
“Do you think he likes flowers?” Mizu asked.
Before Oculus could answer, Nix ran in front of him. “Wait a second, did you say he?”
“Yes, thirteen is a he.”
Sol saw Nix’s eyes light up. “I can’t wait to meet him.”
“You’re just gonna forget about us?” Ignis and Kaze said in unsion.
Nix blew both of them a kiss. “Sorry, but I have to go with the strongest.” The blue haired woman quickly ran ahead.
Oculus looked back at a frowning Ignis and Kaze. “If it makes you feel any better, I doubt he’ll even talk to her.”
“What do you mean by that?” Ignis asked.
“He hasn’t said anything to anyone. And I doubt he will any time soon.” Sol knew how Oculus had gained that information. He thought Oculus’s power was far more impressive than his own.
“If he’s not going to say anything, then why are we going to see him?” Kaze asked.
Then Sol heard his sister pipe up.“Because he’s our leader, if he doesn’t want to talk, then we’ll wait till he’s ready.”
Sol agreed with his sister. “She’s right. I’m sure he’ll say something eventually. Then he’ll tell us what to do.” The boy realized why he agreed with Tsuki. Since thirteen was their leader, he was bound to know what the best course of action would be. And he would do what was best for them.
Kaze chuckled at the twins. “You two are too cute. You’ll do whatever thirteen tells you, won’t you? And you don’t know the first thing about him.”
“Hey!” Tsuki yelled. “Don’t mock us! And don’t talk about him like that.” Sol was glad that his sister would stick up for him.
“Thirteen is our leader and you’ll talk about him with respect.” The boy understood where Tsuki was coming from. Thirteen had to be a great person if he was given the rank of thirteen.
“Fine.” Kaze said while holding his laughter in. He placed his right hand over his heart, and raised his left hand. “I Kaze swear to follow number thirteen to the ends of the world. Even though I don’t know what he wants, what he wants us to do, or even his name.” The man said sarcastically. Both Sol and Tsuki glared at Kaze. Sol didn’t like Kaze’s tone.
Ignis chuckled at the twins. “Even though their just kids, I’m sure they can understand sarcasm.”
Kaze grinned at number nine. “I know, I just think their cute when they get mad.”
They walked until they arrived on a hill; looking out at a beach. The twelve sat on the hill, while their leader sat on the beach.
“So what’s his name?” Ignis asked.
“He hasn’t said anything yet.” Nix said with a frown. “He didn’t even look at me.”
Kaze chuckled at Nix. “What’s the matter? Are you mad there’s someone your charms don’t work on?”
Nix wasn’t fazed by Kaze’s comment. Instead, she shot him a grin. “Are you mad I’ve moved on from you?”
Before Kaze could reply, Ignis cut him off. “Since he isn’t going to say anything, what are we suppose to do?” He said addressing Shinu.
“We will wait.” She raised her voice, to address all of them. “Go and master your abilities. I will send for you when he is ready to tell us his plan.” They all nodded in agreement, and Sol walked off with Tsuki.
The twins walked until they arrived in a large empty field. Sol wondered how he was going to practice his powers since they would only be useful in a fight. Before he could think any further, Tsuki summoned her sword.
“Are you ready?” Tsuki asked with asmile.
“Ready for what?” Sol quickly realized what Tsuki meant. “I don’t want to fight you.”
Tsuki continued to smile. “It’s not fight, just think of it as practice.” The young girl slowly walked away from her brother.
Sol knew Tsuki was only trying to reassure him, but he still didn’t like the thought of fighting his sister. “I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Okay then.” Sol was glad his sister would reconsider. “Think fast!” Tsuki threw her bladed chain at Sol. Without thinking, Sol summoned a heart shaped shield and blocked the attack. Tuski’s chain returned to her. “Good job.”
“What did you do that for!?” Sol cried. “You could have hurt me!” He didn’t understand why Tsuki would attack him.
“I knew you could handle it. And how else are you suppose to master your abilities if you don’t practice.”
Sol realized his sister only attacked him so he would be forced to use his powers. Although he was mad at first, he knew she only did it to help him. Sol raised his shield, and grinned at his sister. “Okay, let’s practice.”
“That’s the spirit!”
Over the next few days, Sol trained with Tsuki and they both mastered their respective powers. In that time he got know the others better, and he considered them his family; even though he didn’t like a couple of them.
One day, Sol was training with Tsuki, when his sister came up with an idea. “Do you remember how Ignis said our powers complimented each other?”
“Yeah?” Sol knew what Tsuki he was getting at.
“Maybe he can combine our powers. Like I can fight, and you can help me.”
Sol thought it was very good idea. He wondered if that was how they were supposed to fight. “That’s a great idea. But how are we gonna practice?”
“We could ask Ignis. I’m sure he would help us if we asked him.”
“Oh…” Sol didn’t like the thought fighting Ignis; even if it was just practice. He knew that number nine’s power greatly exceeded his.
Tsuki walked up to him and put her hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry; I’m sure Ignis will go easy on us.”
Sol’s doubts were put to rest by Tsuki’swords. He didn’t know why he would think Ignis would hurt them. Ignis had become like a big brother to him and Tsuki, and the former wouldn’t do anything to hurt them.
“Alright, let’s ask him.”
“Alright.” Tsuki summoned a corridor of darkness, and the two went to find Ignis.
Sol figured Ignis would be training at the coliseum. They arrived on a platform in the center of the coliseum, where Ignis and Tonitrus were standing. Sol noticed that most of the members, except Oculus, and Somnus, were sitting in the stands.
Sol wondered what was going on, but his train of thought was broken by Tuski. “Ignis, can you help Sol and I practice combining our powers?” She said while tugging on Ignis’ coat.
Ignis patted the girl on the head and smiled at her. “Sorry kiddo, but I’m in the middle of something right now.”
“Hey!” Sol looked over to see Kaze yelling from the stands. “Get off the field! You’re interrupting the match!”
“Match?” Sol questioned. “Oh!” He quickly realized what was going on. Ignis was challenging Tonitrus for the rank of number ten.
Tsuki smiled in embarrassment. “Sorry about that.” She grabbed Sol by the arm, and the two ran into the stands. The ysat down next to Kaze and Nix, and waited to see what would happen next.
Ignis and Tonitrus grabbed each other’s left hands. “I Ignis challenge you Tonitrus for the rank of number ten.” Tonitrus nodded.
They let each other’s hands go, and their numbers went from their hands to over their hearts. The backed away from each other and they summoned their respective weapons. “What’s the challenge?” Ignis said while getting into his fighting stance.
Tonitrus simply pointed away from the ring they were standing on. Sol wondered what number ten meant. But before he could think any further Kaze began to yell. “I think he wants you to knock him out of the ring!”
Tonitrus nodded, confirming Kaze’s theory. Ignis covered his blades in flames, and went to rush number ten. But when he did so, Tonirus calmly walked out of the ring. “What!?” Ignis cried. “You can’t just forfeit!” Ignis sent his left blade away, and the roman numeral ten appeared on his left hand.
Sol didn’t know what to think. He didn’t know what to think of what he had seen. He didn’t understand why Tonitrus would just give his rank away.
“I don’t want your rank if I haven’t earned it.” Ignis yelled. Tonitrus walked back into the ring and shrugged his shoulders; as if to say “so”. Ignis quickly walked up to the new number nine and grabbed the latter’s left hand. “Take it back!” Sol knew Ignis wasn’t the type to accept something if he hadn’t earned it.
Tonitrus batted Ignis’s hand away. Ignis went to swing his right blade, but when he did so Tonitrus disappeared in flash of electricity. Sol watched as Tonitrus appeared behind Ignis, and held his blade to the new number ten’s throat. Ignis sent his blade away and slowly walked into the stands; he sat next to Tsuki andSol.
“Are you okay?” Tsuki asked.
Sol could tell Ignis wasn’t talking the situation very well. “No, I have to find a way to make him take it back.” Sol didn’t know what to say. He didn’t know what Tonitrus’s reason for not fighting was, or if there was a way to convince him to fight.
“Hey Ignis!” Kaze and Nix quickly ran up to the three and showed their new numbers;Nix was number nine, and Kaze was number eight. Sol was shocked that their matches, if one could call them that, with Tonitrus would be so short.
“It doesn’t count. It you didn’t earn them.” Ignis said.
“Relax sweetheart, it’s not like we could just pass up increasing our ranks.” Nix said.
Sol looked down at the ring to see Tsuchi about to challenge Tonitrus. But before she could grab Tonitrus’s hand Atra vanished through a corridor.
“WHAT!?” Tsuchi roared. “How dare he!?” The others walked down to Tsuchi and Tonitrus. “How can he just take my chance away!? He should know the rules better than any of us!” Sol too wondered why Atra, Oculus had told them the name of their leader, wouldn’t oversee the match.
“He knows it will not mean anything.” Sol and the others looked at Shinu.
“What do you mean it doesn’t mean anything!?” Tsuchi yelled.
“The only number that matters is thirteen. You all know that as well.” Sol knew Shinu was right. If the X-blade was reformed they would all become a part of it. Therefore it didn’t matter what their numbers were. This saddened Sol greatly. He didn’t want to be apart from his sister, but he knew wouldn’t be strong enough to stop it.
“What about you?” They all looked at Tenshi. “If anyone could become thirteen it would be you.” Sol knew that Tenshi cared about Shinu greatly. In a way he was jealous of them. At least Shinu had a chance to survive, unlike Tuski.
“I will not challenge him.” Shinu said while glaring at Tenshi.
There was an awkward silence between the group, until Tsuki broke the silence. “We should have a name for our group.”
“What kind of name were you thinking of.” Mizu asked.
“I wanted to talk to Lord Atra before we picked anything.” Tuski replied. Like her Sol too referred to Atra as lord. It was their way of showing their leader their respect.
“Let’s go, I’ve been meaning to get a look at his face anyway.” Nix chimed in.
Shinu summoned a corridor, and the group left to find Atra.
The group arrived at the beach where Sol first saw his leader. When they got there, Oculus was standing behind Atra, while the latter was staring out at the ocean. “Hey!” Tsuki yelled. She quickly ran up to Atra. “I’ve been thinking we should have a name for our group.” Tsuki glanced back at the rest of her comrades. “Since we’re all in the same boat, it’s only right that we have something to call ourselves.”
Sol liked Tsuki’s idea. He thought a name for the group would make them more of a family. But before he could suggest anything, Atra spoke. “The Forgotten.” Sol was glad to finally here his leader speak, but Atra’s words left a certain question. He wondered why Atra would pick The Forgotten as name. He didn’t understand whatt he name meant, if anything at all.
“Why The Forgotten?” Shinnu asked. She took the words right out of Sol’s mouth.
“The quest for the X-blade broke the world, and many innocent lives were lost. They fear that the same thing will happen again.” Atra’s words went over Sol’s head, but it was to be expected. The boy didn’t know what had happened to world after the X-blade was broken.
“You weren’t created from the X-blade, were you?” Oculuss aid. Everyone looked at Atra. Sol couldn’t believe what he had been told. He thought that Atra was like him and the rest of The Forgotten, just stronger.
Atra looked at Oculus. “You’re right. Unlike the rest of you, I was just a normal person.” The confirmation of Oculus’s words shook Sol’s faith in Atra. He believed Atra to be a great and powerful being, instead of being just a normal person.
“What do you want?” Shinu asked, Sol also wondered what Atra wanted.
Atra summoned a corridor of darkness. “It doesn’tmatter.” Before Atra could leave, Nix strutted up to him.
“Now I have to see your face.” Nix yanked Atra’s hood down, but before anyone could get a good look Atra sent her flying back with a blast of darkness. Sol didn’t expect Atra to attack a fellow member.
Atra quickly turned around and put his hood back up. But not before everyone got a look at his shoulder length ash blonde hair. He then disappeared into his corridor.
Sol didn’t say a word, and neither did the others. He wondered if anything would change, and more importantly would he still be with Tsuki.
“Anyway.” Tsuki said. “I thought we could have titles too.” Sol knew she was trying to get everyone’s mind off of Atra.
Ignis patted Tsuki on the head. “That’s a good idea. What did you have in mind?”
“We could have titles based off of our abilities. Like…” The girl pointed at Oculus. “We could call you The Watcher, since you can watch us.”
The group sat around and came up with titles for eachother, until they got to Sol. “Well Sol, any ideas of what you want to be called?” Ignis asked.
Sol though about it for a moment, he had a few name in his head, but one stood out amongst the rest. “The Setting Sun.”
“Why The Setting Sun?” Mizu asked.
Sol understood why she would be confused. “When I was born, I saw a vision of a setting sun with a moon above it. And my powers only work in the day time.”
“Then we’ll call me The Rising Moon.” Tsuki said. Sol knew that she had received the same vision when she was born.
“Why?” Mizu questioned again.
“I had the same vision when I was born. And my powers only work a night.” Tsuki said while smiling at her brother.
The Forgotten came up with titles for each other, until they got to Atra.
“The Will of The Forgotten.” Shinu said before anyone couldsuggest anything else.
“The Will of The Forgotten.”
“Why that?” Tsuki asked. Oculus knew why Shinu chose that title.
“He is our leader. He is the only one who knows what we are supposed to do. And we will all follow him.”
“That’s a great idea Shinu.” Tsuki said, smiling at number twelve. Sol too thought the title was very fitting for their leader.
Things were normal for a while. Ignis helped Sol and Tsuki practice combining their powers, and the two became a great tag team.
One day, while Sol training with Tsuki and Ignis, the three felt the ground to start shaking violently. They looked to saw a giant pillar of darkness rise into the sky. “What’s going on?” Sol asked Ignis. He expected Ignis to know if they were in danger or not.
“It’s Atra.” Sol noticed a shocked expression on Ignis’sface. This didn’t help to ease the boy’s mind.
Tsuki summoned a corridor of darkness. “Let’s go! Lord Atra may need our help.” The girl quickly ran into the corridor, and Ignis and Sol followed.
They arrived around a giant freshly made crater. Sol looked around and saw the other members arriving. Then he looked at Atra,h olding a key shaped blade. Before anyone could say anything, Atra spoke.
“I’m leaving this place, but to do so I'll need your hearts.” Atra said while sending his blade away.
Sol knew what was going to happen, even if he didn’t want to admit it. He knew that he and Tsuki would disappear, and become a part of the X-blade.
“You expect us to just give you our hearts!” Tenshi yelled.
“If I fail, I’ll put us to sleep until we can escape.” Atra responded calmly.
“You think our power isn’t enough!?” Tsuchi cried. “Our hearts have more than enough power to get you out!” Sol was a little surprised that Tuschi would willingly give her heart to Atra. It was so unlike her.
“Before we go, I need to talk to Somnus. You should probably say your goodbyes.” Atra then vanished into a corridor.
Sol didn’t what to say, he didn’t expect their lives to end so soon. He then felt tears running down his face; the situation was starting to sink in.
“Don’t be sad.” Tsuki wiped the tears from her brother’s eyes. “We’ll get to help Lord Atra.” She said while smiling at Sol.
Sol wished he could have been as strong as his sister. He couldn’t bear to thought of losing his sister. He summoned a corridor and left.
The boy arrived at the dark beach, and sat down. All he could do was cry. While he wanted to help Atra, he didn’t want to if it mean the had to lose Tsuki. While he knew that the situation was inevitable, he wasn’t prepared for it.
“I know what it’s like.” Sol looked to see Atra sit beside him. “I know what it feels like to know that you will lose the person you care about the most.”
Sol was surprised to see Atra open up to him. “Then tell me what I’m supposed to do.” Sol buried his face in his knees. “I know there must be a good reason for you wanting my heart, but it still hurts.”
“I know it does. But do you know what’s worse?” Sollooked over at Atra. “Knowing that their death didn’t mean anything, and that you’re the only one who will remember them. And worse, you have to live, wondering if there was anything you could have done.”
Sol didn’t know if Atra’s words were supposed to cheer him up. “What do you mean?”
“I promise that her death won’t be in vain. You’ll both help me to create a better world.”
While Atra did make Sol understand the situation better. He still didn’t like the idea of losing his sister. “I just…”
“You’ll still be together.”
Sol’s eyes lit up with hope. “What do you mean?”
“You’ll be together forever, inside of the X-blade.”
Sol didn’t even ask for clarification. He was just happy that he and Tsuki would still be together; even it wasn’t in a physical from. “Alright I’ll give you my heart.”
Sol said his goodbyes to rest of The Forgotten, and spent the remainder of his time with Tsuki. Then the day came for The Forgotten to relinquish their hearts.
Atra gathered all of them before a large white door. “Are you ready?” All of the members nodded. Atra summoned his blade and held it in the air. When he did so the members of The Forgotten’s bodies started to fade away, and their hearts flew into Atra’s blade.
Sol held his sister’s hand as their hearts left their bodies. As their bodies were almost completely, they smiled at each other. Sol believed what Atra had told him. That he would still be with Tsuki. As his consciousnessf aded, he saw an image of a sun sinking bellow the horizon.
