KH3 certainly makes perfect sense with just X Back Cover, but since then there hasn't really been a "next game", meanwhile the rest of UX+DR was just like "hmm everything you know about the setting is probably a lie haha ". Short of making Re:UX I don't see this being easy to just patch into 4.

Like, this is the classic "I played a series out of order and I still enjoyed it". Yeah, of course you did, the games were good!!!!

But I'm not really confident they are actually going to go over that stuff... for that matter, it's a bit tricky to accurately "summarize" UX in another work when almost every line in it consists of ambiguous implications. I know how I would summarize that story, but chances are any other fan would produce a totally different interpretation.

I don’t think you’ll have the 100% complete picture without playing the mobile games, but the important details that are relevant to KH4 will be recapped or touched upon in some way. Our present day characters are effectively audience surrogates for anyone who doesn’t know this stuff. If and when Sora, Riku, and the rest learn about the characters and plot points from these games, so too will the players who opted not to play them.

I'm a super massive KH fan. I've logged thousands of hours in the numbered titles and hundreds in the handheld ones. Sora, Donald, and Goofy exist at the center of my soul. When KH news comes out, my breath gets shaky and my heart pounds out of my chest.

But I do not have a full picture or an accurate account of the Ux/DR storyline. Just because it says "Kingdom Hearts" on the tin doesn't mean it's equal to me. I've had years to catch up, but that setting, those characters, that concept... it means very little to me. Down to the chibi style it's presented in, it's just a leap too far from what I love about this series, that I'd honestly rather do nothing than sit there and watch those scenes for the pale purpose of 'getting' every twist and turn the games may throw at me later. I'd rather be confused than bored.

Back Cover's pacing and dialogue didn't do these characters any favors either... I try to go into these things with an open mind, but putting mysteries and guessing games above character driven stories and relationship based storytelling just bores me. I don't care what's in the box, I don't care what the Master's plan is... it's all just gonna be more KH fantasy schlock. I can't sit there for hours watching flash animated cutscenes and reading text just to hazard a guess. I'll just be confused like SDG and then use my keyblade to kill the bad guys.

It'd be easy to tie it in if Subject X wound up being Ava, somehow.

Maybe its just me but the chibi puppet animation had more personality than the 3D models they are using in ML. I really hope they add some shaders to those things becuase I don't want to be playing a stingy gacha game with a plastic manneuqin that look worse than the recent Pokemon Go update.

Yeah. I mean, I prefer real game animation, but between ML and UX, I'll take the chibi style. Probably cheaper to develop for too.

Considering we know virtually nothing about Subject X and the fact that she's in in the KH 20th Anniversary art - I'm sure she'll become of more significance in KH4. Maybe even Missing Link.

There's no reason to suspect she isn't. Ava is said to be popular among the Keyblade wielders of the era because she's around the same age as the other children and thus easier to talk to.

I don't know, she explicitly refers to Ephemer and the other Dandelions as "kids". It's not that weird for a kid to call another kid "a kid" but in the context she does refer to them as such, it's almost like she's differentiating them from herself.

I'd be more inclined to believe it's Ava if we saw what colour hair she had (since we know Subject X dons black hair) but for now imma go with Skuld. She confidently ticks all the right boxes so far.

EDIT: At the same time, I feel like Skuld is the obvious pick so it WON'T end up being her. But my vote's still on her nonetheless.

My money was on Skuld too until Nomura confirmed that Xehanort's mom is related to her. Now everything is back up in the air.

Anyway! That's not the point of this thread (not that we have anything else to speculate at this point, though)
