No, it's not a prequel or in other case, it's both the prequel (flashback, possible?)and a sequel in one game....maybe you get to play two characters in it.

Yeah, but that doesn't make any sense right? Xigbar's eyepatch and his scar means his battle in the past (Organization member).....because it is possible when in the past, his original form, Braig, he doesn't have any scar or wearing an eyepatch, also, he's one of Ansem's assistant.
Well, when you think about it, he and every other member (cept Roxas) were researchers. They might have found out some things about the past. Or maybe Xehanort told them something (cause i believe Xehanort was one of the knights in the secret ending).
