What if instead of only trying to create kingdom hearts in 358/2days u are also trying to kill the Org XIII's heartless so if they ever die, they will come back. I got inspired by this along time ago but the last 358/2 days thread made me think of this. ur thoughts?

If thats the case would they have not have sent some members to take care of XH, that you fought in KH1?

I don't think they were aware that if they killed their own heartless, and then themselves, that they could exist again.

For scientists of the heart, they didn't seem very knowledgeable...

Only six of them were scientists.

Still, you'd think that they'd know more about what the heck they're doing, especially Xemnas, who was the worst of them all.

They're not being stupid. First of all, Xehanort and his fellow apprentices created Heartless and Nobodies with their experiments. These were new creatures. As Nobodies themselves, they didn't know too much more than Ansem did. Axel said it himself in Chain of Memories: one of the primary functions of Organization XIII is to study the heart. In doing so, they learn more about who they are.

Also, keep in mind that when Sora became a Heartless, he was just a Shadow at first, and that's presumably what the other members' Heartless are. Now, think about the millions of Heartless that you fight in KH1 and KH2, and even more that Roxas fights in 358/2 Days! How's the Organization supposed to know which ones are them? Talk about looking for thirteen needles in a haystack!

As far as we know, killing the Heartless and then the Nobody is the only way to restore someone, but it's far from risk-free. If they die before their Heartless is destoryed, they fade into the darkness, and it becomes much harder for them to go back to their original selves.

Well, does the Heartless just have to die by any means before the Nobody so that the person can become whole again, or does the Heartless have to struck down by the Keyblade in order for this to work?

Since the whole "they can come back" idea was thought up by Roxas and Namine after all was said and done, it's probably unlikely the rest of the Organization knew about. But if they did (Xemnas may have figured it out, he's a smart guy after all) they may have thought that the Keyblade was required to make it work, and thus they still needed Roxas in order to carry it out.

This is pretty much all we know right now:

Another Report said:
VIII - When the Heartless are defeated, what becomes of the stolen hearts? Also, when members of Organization XIII and other Nobodies are defeated, do they return to their original form?

When Heartless are defeated, essentially the owner’s hearts are rejoined with their once extinguished body, whichever world it may be on. As for the whereabouts of hearts in KHII that turn up, this time they remarkably went to the Organization (There is a footnote here that says “In Kingdom Hearts II, after Heartless were defeated, the many hearts were absorbed by the Kingdom Hearts of “people’s hearts”). However, in the rare case that the body changed into a Nobody and there is no container for the heart, it resorts to a state of suspension.

In the case of a Nobody being defeated, it’s a little more complicated. If the above mentioned hearts are liberated, they return to their original form. However, if the heart is still stolen by the Heartless, the Nobody’s body is swallowed by Darkness. If somewhere in the world their hearts are taken back, perhaps they might be able to return to their original human form.

So the Heartless need to be destroyed first. It doesn't really specify how. It also seems to indicate that you can be restored if your Nobody was destroyed first, but it's not easy and may even be rare.

That would be verrrrrrrry interesting....
but doubtful.

Like R-K said, they probably didn't know about the whole returning-to-somebody-by-killing-heartless-then-nobody-thing
Then again, maybe Xemnas had reasoned it out
Who knows what that guy's brain is really capable of. o_O
