Cop Tases 72-Year-Old Granny

Just what the title says. Apparently she got tasered for getting "violent" and pretty much not cooperating...in Texas.

Watch Travis County constable Richard McCain explain the incident, and the whole thing sounds reasonable: The driver was speeding through a construction zone, and disobeyed the deputy’s orders when she got pulled over. So, eventually, the cop zapped her with a Taser.

But then you watch the video of what went down on that strip of Texas highway. And suddenly, the claims of the driver “refusing to move” and getting “violent” suddenly seem ridiculous. Because the driver is a 72 year-old great grandmother who barely makes it up to the cop’s chest.

Used right, the Taser stun guns save lives — disabling targets, instead of shooting them dead. But law enforcement officials don’t always use the shock weapons as firearm substitute. Tasers are also employed in all kinds of situations in which an officer would never even consider pulling out his weapon. Old ladies get blasted, as a result.

Right? Wrong? Discuss.

The Cop was in all the right to tase her. She Provoked him, Resisted arrest and started to mouth off to him. She left him no choice.

if you try to restrict an old lady with force, you could end up injuring her. it's much less of a hassle to just taser her and throw her in the backseat.

Good thing this isn't one of those cases.
If she were 30 years younger, this wouldn't have made news. It was routine. The bitch deserved it for resisting arrest. Being a senior citizen doesn't give you special privileges, except maybe extra applesauce at the home.

A taser isn't supposed to induce pain (unless set to a certain mode), it's only for incapacitation.
The cases where people have died from being tased are often because of excessive use (being tased, say, ten times).

It's better than forcibly slamming her into the ground and breaking her hip.
