They always tend to overdramatize Vanitas a little too much... in the game, he feels a lot more... proactive. He knows what he wants for the most part and acts on it, sometimes to the detriment of Xehanort (when he tried to kill Ventus that one time). Maybe you can gleam a little longing for something else in his final moments of BbS and KH3, but he's... pretty assured in his actions either way. He never comes across as asking for help, regretful, or particularly in pain.
He feels less like an angsty teenager like these passages describe and more like a guy who is literally out of his mind. Not like "Ahaha, I'm coo coo for cocoa puffs!" but "I have one goal in mind, I hate everyone involved but you know what, I'm going to enjoy the conflict anyway cause seeing you hurt is kinda fun. I don't care if I don't make sense, this is what I want."
As for the whole... Eraqus and Xehanort bits... yawn. Clearly no one must've given her much to go on here. Imo, I think Eraqus and Xehanort were normal buddies among a group of friends. Whatever disaster happened to Scala Ad Caelum must've made the two really close, but not in a "We're best friends who tell each other everything" kind of way, but a "We're the last two survivors. Only we understand this particular pain and it ties us together" kind of way.
I've always despised how forgiving Eraqus is toward Xehanort despite all he's done (and continued to do), but if trauma is causing Eraqus to overlook how terrible Xehanort has become, maybe it makes a little more sense I guess???
