Re: Kingdom Hearts: Hearts in Unison (Chapter 32 posted)

O_O Vanitas's back?! What? How?!

So, it seemed that it was Terra's plan to be inside Riku's heart somehow.. Huh, that is really interesting!

Lol at Ven for grabbing Roxas's ankle.. :3 That's really cute.

So, two weeks until Chapter 33, huh? I'm already ready for it! xD But I'll be patient. I hope Nov can make it to update the spelling corrective.

Vanitas isn't more "back" than Ventus is though, and about the "how", that will be addressed in due time. ;)

It's certainly sort of funny, hence Roxas chuckling as well. The cuteness factor is certainly intended in a way by me, again in a pure innocent manner, although it also does have a deeper meaning hidden. One obvious factor is surely that Ventus doesn't want to be left alone, as he was lonely for the last ten years, but the searching contact with Roxas is also on an instinctive level (which Roxas has too as we will see later) and that is the more deeper meaning behind it.

I've set a threshold by now. If by the time I am going to post chapter 34 I haven't heard anything from Nov regarding the proofreading of chapter 31, as 30 was the last one I got, I will go and look for an interim proofreader.

Uh, what is VANITAS doing at Riku's heart?

I mean, I remember Ventus obliterating him (along with his own heart). Come on, how in Earth or Hell could this guy have SURVIVED such a titanical fight and even FOUND A WAY INTO ANOTHER ONE'S HEART?

In DDD, for what I could know, Master Xehanort surely intends to use Vanitas as one of the Thirteen Dark Hearts. Still, aside Riku being Sora's best friend (considering that Ven had made contact with Sora and thus Vanitas, too), what is the connection between Vanitas and Riku?

Well, the story had yet taken another interesting twist. Oh, and I am looking forward to see Roxas learning to use the Wayward Wind.

Let me get my hands on a 3DS and I will make some enhancement on Dream Drop Distance's story based on some of your material, Seph.

Well, two weeks on to Chapter 33.

Quite the surprise, huh?
Hehehe, your reaction is exactly like Terra's in the chapter, y'know? When Terra gets to know it, the reader will too. ^__^

Yep, Ven trashed him in BBS by destroying/shattering the X-blade. How this goes all together though has to do with one of the main plot points of the whole story. All I can say right now is that Vanitas' situation isn't unlike Ven's, and that much of this will already become clearer in the next two chapters. ;D

Heh, going with DDD references again? I though I told you DDD has no impact or whatever on Hearts in Unison. This story starts after Coded and completely replaces DDD. In this timeline, DDD never happens.
The "connection" between Vanitas and Riku isn't anything like the one between Sora and Ven, in fact Riku doesn't even know about it.
Vanitas is the "foreign darkness" though that plagues Riku and without spoiling the revelations next chapter I can already say that this connection is there already since the Days of BBS, only in a more secret and sinister manner.
Relax, all these questions you have are burning within Terra as well, and Vanitas will answer them.

This twist and what follows leads directly into the reasons for Sora's "harbingers of torment", why Roxas is even awake (he should be sleeping in Sora's heart like Ven) and the introduction of the first main antagonist of the story.

Roxas is just so adorable in this chapter! <3 I wonder what he'll do with Ventus keyblade? It's was fun watching Roxas realize what his feelings were when it came to Ven. It's kind of sad that he didn't feel that way before but, I'm glad he was able to make a friend with no strings attached.

Are the black tendrils attacking Terra, Master Xehanort's doing, Sephy? :3 Also, I wonder who it is crying out in pain, inside of Riku's heart.

Lastly, I'm curious what Vanitas meant by this? ^

Another great chapter, Sephy. I look forward to seeing what's next.

I had so much fun writing him like this. Dorky, clueless Roxas is so adorable and I think it reflects very well that in essence, he's mentally only one year old.
Well, at the core he's mainly just curious about it since it differs so much from all Keyblades he has seen so far, so he wants to examine it. ;)
As for Roxas' feelings towards Ven, in the earlier chapters there was so much going on with Ven's pain attacks and Roxas' own confusion that he hadn't time to properly reflect on what his own feelings mean. He did feel that way before, but couldn't name or explain it. Ven just being nice to him and not expecting anything from Roxas or getting mad when he couldn't do anything big to help is something Roxas isn't used to, not to mention his own guilty feelings for inadvertently hurting Ventus.
In the chapters 9 to 11 it is shown that Roxas has quite some difficulties to deal with Ven and his own feelings, on top of this Ven going to make that promise with him and being just so affectionate towards him which not even Xion or Axel ever did.
Roxas knew that he had made a new friend in Ventus, what he didn't realize fully however was just how happy he had become over all of this, almost as if he forgot that feeling after losing nearly everything.
It may seem a bit confusing at first, but this has all strongly to do with a development and Roxas' state itself. In the earlier chapters, he could sometimes feel Ven's pain himself and other flashes of emotion.
In this chapter, he comes to realize more about this phenomena, and there's a particular point when he asks himself "What's up with me?" and feels something else seemingly triggered when in his inner retelling he goes again through the memories of his first "befriending" Ventus.
This is an important hint that will be elaborated upon in the future when the focus switches fully back to Roxas and Ven.

The black tendrils are the same as the ones seeping out of Riku's arm and which pushed Riku out of his own heart. They're primarily Vanitas' doing, although I will say that while he's not being actively involved, Master Xehanort knows what is going on.
The cries of pain Terra can hear are the same ones Riku heard when he destroyed the Unversed who were trying to get to Sora in an earlier chapter before Kairi's arc. I guess it should be easy to deduce to whom they belong then, considering it also happens when Terra uses that shoulder tackle.

This statement of Vanitas is related to this one from BBS:
Vanitas said:
"Exactly what I said, idiot. The Terra you know will be gone forever."
Vanitas was on the impression that Terra as an independent force would be completely gone after Xehanort completes his plan. Seeing Terra now however shows him that Xehanort apparently didn't succeed completely, which seems to please him. Why? That's something to be revealed later.

Thanks, I'm also really pleased that we finally get down to "the meat" of things. The following chapters will set up quite some interesting developments, also since in chapter 35 we will finally meet Xehanort for the first time.

Sorry, Seph,I just can't simply stop comparing DDD to your story. Well, for what I know, I think you're not going with the "Heart Equation" theory thing. Relax, I just mentioned the plot.

Well, I think you are really getting me on the right spots, by making the reader somewhat "mimic" the character's reactions.

And, by my deduction, I say: the Lingering Will is to become a problem.

Ah no, it's not that I really have a problem with that. I emphasize this just so much so you don't take the wrong course when speculating on things since you cannot take anything of the stuff we learned in DDD into consideration for this story.

I'm pretty much often out there when it comes to theorizing, but I have to admit that I never heard of the "Heart Equation"-theory yet. Or maybe I did but under a different name, what`s this theory about?

When I said earlier that some things turn out very similar (or even the same) as in DDD then I was of course talking about results, not the way how to get to that result.
I am completely honest when I say that when I found out some things about what DDD revealed I was shocked that Nomura had some very similar ideas at least in regarding to outcomes than I had when planning my story already in 2011.

Seems so, lol, well then I guess you gotta wait to hear it the same time as Terra does. There wouldn't be much fun if I revealed it already before the story does.

Well, the Lingering Will will of course play a role, but if it has already to do with this I won't say.
Or, as Nomura says: I'll leave it to your imagination.

Xehanort intends to make thirteen hearts of pure darkness clash with seven hearts of pure light in a massive war for the worlds. The energy liberated on such war would generate the X-Blade as well as call the real Kingdom Hearts forth.

Ah, that one is also a development coming from DDD, so I can definitely say:

Nope, none of this will be involved in this storyline.

Time's up, lol.

Dear Readers, I'm pleased to announce that I could now replace the beta-version of chapter 31 with a proof-read one with a few improvements.

I sent chapter 32 and 33 as well to Nov so she can look into them when there's time.

Now, it is time to look further into just what devious things Vanitas is up to and, for Terra and most readers alike most importantly to know: What the heck is he doing in Riku's heart and how did he came there? ^__^

#####
XXXIII. Hatred meets Hatred

Vanitas ceased his laughing at this outburst, his visible golden eye narrowing and piercing Terra with a hateful stare ridden with scorn.

“You better watch your words, failure…don’t think that I’m helpless just because my heart is shattered…”

Shattered heart? That means…Ven really won! Yeah, it wasn’t a mistake…but why did he still survive…?
“I will only repeat this once…then I will crush your shattered heart so much it can’t be repaired ever! What are you doing here? Where’s Ven?”
Terra didn’t let his voice get any lower or remotely friendlier.

“Interesting…so the old fart’s influence did rub off on you. You would attack an already wounded heart…” Vanitas’s voice faltered a little and his golden eye narrowed even further shortly as if he had a pain seizure.
“Answer my questions!” Terra snarled, pointing the tip of Earthshaker now at Vanitas’ throat on his outstretched arm.

“One day you will regret the move you just made…” The boy growled back at him, hatred seeping from every word.
“…but for now I’ll play along.”
Inside his mask, Vanitas had an evil smile Terra couldn’t see.

“Then talk!” The young man demanded, not taking the blade away from the sitting boy’s throat.
“Alright, alright.” The heart of pure darkness raised both his hands from the armrests in a seemingly disarming gesture.

“Bluntly said…after I initiated the forging of the X-blade that idiot Ventus somehow managed to resist the fusion. While the weapon came into existence and I was able to take control of that little bastard’s body, his heart and mind resisted being overtaken by me. Our hearts intersected as required, but didn’t fuse together into one completely because Ventus resisting it with every fiber of his being.”
While explaining this Vanitas’s voice got increasingly louder, angry and totally embittered.

“The fusion appeared successful on the outside world, but inside…” He growled again, to Terra’s slight confusion even a minimal tone of disappointment was hearable.
“Go on!” He demanded.

Vanitas did so only after throwing another hateful stare at Terra.
“Making things short…We fought inside the awakening station of our intersected hearts. I wanted to subdue the idiot fully and finally take over completely, but he continued to resist and even fight me on even terms, something I really didn’t need since I also had to fight that blue haired bitch and King monster-ear outside.”

He trembled even more with suppressed anger when saying the next sentences.
“Then that bitch really managed to crack the X-blade; revealing it’s inner incompleteness and dooming both Ventus’s and my heart for destruction…something I had warned the idiot about even before we fought.
I needed to speed things up and try to fix everything before it was too late. I forced a Dimension-Link in order to finally complete the fusion and with that also repair the damage to the outer key…but…but…he still fought on and trashed me…”

Hearing this Terra on one hand felt so proud about Ven fighting on despite what was at stake and Aqua doing the same on the outside, forcing Vanitas to split his attention and doing everything in her power to save Ven.
On the other hand he realized now the main reason why Ven was in such a horrible state…he sacrificed his own heart…because this bastard here forced a fusion on him to forge that dreaded weapon.
He fought again off the urge to just ram his Keyblade into Vanitas.

“The X-blade was destroyed…and with that…both my and Ventus’s hearts which formed the core of it. That our hearts somehow survived…badly mauled of course, I would attribute to the thing being incomplete to begin with…”

“Alright then…what the heck are you doing HERE?” Terra yelled, interrupting the last sentence, his hand with the Earthshaker slightly shaking.
This goddamn rotten little bastard…what is he doing in Riku’s heart…the one I choose to inherit the power of the Keyblade.

“Guuh!” Suddenly Terra was thrown back by a blast of dark energy directly to his stomach.
Vanitas sat there, right hand raised and his visible eye again narrowed with spite.
“You won’t hold a blade to my throat any longer, failure!!!”

Regaining his composure rather fast, Terra swung Earthshaker around, meeting Vanitas’s glance with a scornful one of his own.
“You little abomination…”

“You want more explanation? Fine! Then shut up and listen, failure!” Vanitas shot back, ignoring the latest insult.
Taking his right arm down on the armrest again the boy shortly coughed, pressing his left on a particulary big bruise directly left of his navel where a broad gaping hole was in his bodysuit.

Terra took two steps forward.
Vanitas quickly raised his right hand again and shot another blast of darkness, which the brunette easily dodged with a side step.
“Stay where you are.” The boy snarled.
“Hihihi…so you wanna know what I am doing here? Well, what does it look like, you fool?”

“What???” Terra shouted, infuriated.
“Moron!” Vanitas countered, cackling again. “Use your brain if old fart hasn’t messed it up completely already. What could I do here?”

“Nothing good, that’s for sure…” Terra answered, his eyes narrowed as well.
“That depends on one’s viewpoint of course…” The boy’s voice went mocking and spiteful again.
“…for me, it will be very good.”
“Hnnngh.” The young man had to struggle hard again not to give in to his dark impulses and attack the boy…that would only help Master Xehanort in the end. He could feel the struggle between him with Eraqus and Xehanort being on a sort of standstill, but that could easily change if he would lose his temper.

“Well, it’s actually pretty easy around. As my heart was so badly wounded it couldn’t function at all anymore…I had to found refuge somewhere…our unfinished union also broke apart when the X-blade was destroyed. At first I thought we could remain united…but after I had to relinquish all control I ever had over Ventus my essence drifted away…and that bastard even supported it by mentally kicking me away in disgust…”
Vanitas trembled again, infuriated and totally mad.

“No wonder after what you did to him.” Terra said coldly. “You are the one responsible for Ven’s heart being injured badly a second time! Bastard!”
He pointed his finger accusingly at the boy, his anger raising up even more.
“…and how dare you to seek refuge inside Riku’s heart…polluting it with your…wait, how’s that even possible?”

Vanitas shot him an angry, hateful glance again.
“Oh, that…I noticed that you had choosen this guy to inherit the power when I went to those islands myself. But that was not the main reason.”
Chuckling, the boy leaned forward a bit.
“It was his best friend, that guy named Sora…he is the one who saved Ventus’s heart when it was on the verge of disappearing after I was born. As I already said to your blue haired bitch-friend…it never hurts to have a backup…and since this guy is so tightly knit with the idiot Ventus I thought why not form a connection with the best friend of that guy just in case something goes wrong.”

Terra gulped. What…?
“Yes, I formed a subtle connection with Riku’s heart 11 years ago…of course not that close as Sora did with Ventus…but it could serve me good since I connected only with Riku’s darkness. A last straw to grasp at you could say.”

“So you already predicted losing?”

“No you moron…I just kept a possibility open in case something goes wrong…still…I could not even find refuge within Riku’s heart at first since his light was way too strong and his darkness way too small…just like with Ventus before I was born and that Sora as well. My heart drifted through the Realm of Darkness, the pain nearly driving me mad since I could not rest anywhere to bear it.
Only when Riku’s darkness started to grow I could finally enter, shutting myself completely away since shortly after that damned “Ansem, Seeker of Darkness” came and I had no tools at hand to fight him for supremacy.”

He straightened his posture in the armchair, his visible eye flaring up.
“And now…since Ansem is gone I can pursue my goal to use Riku’s darkness to heal my heart up as far as possible while planning my next steps…hihihi.”

Realizing what this meant Terra growled angered. “You filthy little…I won’t allow you to harm Riku with…”

“Like you could do anything, pfft.” Vanitas scoffed at him in a dismissing tone.
“And that’s not all of course…” His eye narrowing again, Vanitas’s voice went even colder.
“I know exactly where little Ventus’s heart is hiding and I can ensure you he will pay very dearly for disrupting my plans like that.”

“You…no!” Terra yelled.
“Yes…hehe, you stupid failure. I told you you’ll regret putting your blade at my throat. Oh, I know you are a tough guy and all…but I know your weakest points all too good, just like the old fart does. I will get my hands on your precious Ventus and make sure his pain is always thrice that of mine…I will break him and then heal him up again to a sufficient point just to break him again…his crippled heart always chained to mine in eternal suffering. Uhhh…just thinking about the joy I will have hurting him makes me excited…”
Terra couldn’t see it due to the mask, but Vanitas was excitedly licking his lips.

“Vanitas! I won’t allow…”
“And you now have even another weak point added…hihihi, isn’t that true?” The boy interrupted in a very threatening tone. “Riku’s heart will be someday overtaken by mine…I will put him out of commission so he won’t interfere…then I will go into the Realm of Darkness and slice Aqua into bloody bits…of course making sure Ventus and you get a box-seat to see it…”

“Niiaargh…I won’t let you hurt them again, you friggin monster!” Terra yelled and proceeded to dash forwards attacking Vanitas with a wide vertical swing of Earthshaker.

Sparks flew as Vanitas’s Keyblade, Void Gear, materialized in the boy’s right hand, blocking Terra’s strike head-on.
“Hihihi…I just knew too good what strings I had to pull to send you over the edge, you idiot. You’re so predictable.”

Pulling the blade back Terra let another heavy blow follow, which Vanitas blocked again.
The raven-haired boy felt the tremendous force behind the blow though, his arm with the Keyblade in hand trembling slightly, the bruises aching.

Ghh…can’t remain seated fighting him…he can avert more energy here than I thought.
Gathering some energy Vanitas pushed himself up, driving Terra backwards a bit.
Now standing, he changed into his usual battle stance.
“Come on…” He taunted.
Terra immediately went on the offensive again, performing an entire combo attack on his opponent, infuriated by the thoughts of his friends in danger again.
No, Ven…I won’t let him get you…

As Vanitas met Terra’s blows sparks continued to light up everytime the two blades met, the shorter boy holding his own against Terra’s powerful strikes pretty good despite his state.

Still, no one of them could overcome the other as Terra could only afford a part of his energy and focus here while Vanitas was so heavily injured he could not bring out his full power at all.

“Pfff, give it up, failure. You can’t afford fighting Master Xehanort on one front to keep your heart from being fully overtaken and fighting me to protect Riku and your precious Ventus on another.”

“SHUT UP! You have no idea what I am capable of. I swore already 10 years ago to do everything needed to save Aqua and Ven. I won’t allow you to hurt them again or Riku in your madness!” Terra shouted back, driving Vanitas backwards.

I think this should clear up some things quite a bit...and the fight is on, so to say. ;)

Woo! Chapter 33 is here, finally! :D

So, Vanitas drifted to Riku's heart, huh? But seems Riku's Light was strong and bright until Ansem came in and brought the darkness out.

Even in his weak state, Vanitas manages to be an asshole.. Pft.

Wait, so does that mean Terra knew about Ven's body being in a coma??

Jeez, I'm so ready for the next chapter, Selphy! :DD

Oh, it came a bit earlier than expected.

Well, as I haven't played the Keyblade Graveyard with Aqua yet, I didn't know how the Ventus-Vanitas fusion was formed. (Note: Actually, I am about to wipe the Mirage Arena before going to the Graveyard with Aqua.)

And now we have a new plotline going on: Vanitas finding refuge inside Riku's heart after drifting in darkness for ten years. Things are getting more interesting, as Vanitas had already started to proceed with Riku's possession (the real reason why his left arm was leaking dark mana).

Now the plot thickens.

Also, Speh, considering Coded, do you remember that Yen Sid mentioned that there was more than one Xehanort back? If so, do you intend to involve some line of thinking to include them, diferring from the time travel thing shown at Dream Drop Distance?

(Not to mention that the time travel thing was also shown in Birth by Sleep, if I remember well...)

I'm so torn but, perhaps that's because I love Vanitas a lot. I kinda agree with him; about Terra not being able to fight both of them off without putting straining himself. After all, Terra's having to pervent Xehanort from taking over what's left of his heart but, I wonder if Vanitas is doing this I purpose. Angering him just to give Xehanort an advantage or some other motive? That an a part of me thought those two might come to a truce simply because, they can't get out right now.

Another great chapter, Sephy! I look forward to seeing what's next. :)

Riku's light being very strong was actually shown in Birth by Sleep as it was this light that lead Terra to the Destiny Islands. ;)
The Darkness inside Riku grew over the years with his yearning to leave the islands becoming ever stronger until KH 1 happened.
It was only during the time of KH 1 that Vanitas' heart could finally use the connection he formed without Riku knowing it and enter his heart, which was roughly around the time Maleficent gave Riku the Soul Eater.
Before that, Vanitas' maimed heart was drifting through the realm of Darkness.

Well yeah, what do you expect, lol? This is Vanitas after all, although him being pissed can be slightly understandable since Terra just barged into his crippled heart by practically smashing the door in with a shoulder tackle.

He knows, yes, but how and why he knows is still a mystery. ^___^

Oh, it came a bit earlier than expected.

But you have played Ven's story, right? Where you have to fight Vanitas in the awakening platform? That's when their hearts intersect and Vanitas initiates the fusion, but it is not finished.

Exactly, although one small difference is there as Vanitas is not yet really trying to possess Riku despite planning to do so later. Right now he's still simply too weak for that. The darkness seeping from Riku's arm was actually Vanitas "testing" how far his heart is already recuperated as he still needs vast amounts of energy to heal his broken heart which got just as badly damaged as Ventus'.

Yeah, the secret ending of Coded, of course I incorporated that, although I won't reveal yet how. Just so much so far: There's a reason the black coated figure that was originally with Braig and Isa and is later seen with Ienzo in chapter 13 keeps the hood up.

In BBS there was the Mysterious Figure with the time-themed Keyblade, but not a real reference towards time-travel itself.

I'm so torn but, perhaps that's because I love Vanitas a lot. I kinda agree with him; about Terra not being able to fight both of them off without putting straining himself. Torn in which way? The things Vanitas plans to do are pretty vicious and despicable, especially regarding Ven and Riku, so looking from Terra's viewpoint opposing him directly isn't that surprising I would think.

It's true that Terra is taking quite a risk here dividing his consciousness on two fronts, but there are two factors which almost even the odds for now: Eraqus is on Terra's side and can at least help hold Xehanort off and Vanitas himself is nearly in the same bad shape as Ventus. That he is capable of fighting right now is solely because of the energy he sucked off from Riku's heart.

As for Vanitas taunting him, yes, he does that on purpose for different reasons, one which is certainly that he enjoys seeing others suffer and he knows very well that he can deal mental blows to his enemies by injuring their friends.
Beside that, Vanitas also has a plan in which getting revenge on Ven and using Riku are only parts of the whole, but more about that cannot be revealed just yet. ;)

For forming a truce both parties would need to be willing to do that, and that is something neither of them wants. Terra would never accept a truce with someone who's willingly and deliberately endangering his loved ones, in this case Riku and Ven (which would later extend to Aqua as Vanitas made pretty clear).
Vanitas on the other hand is way too prideful and swept up in his anger about his situation that he would accept a truce with Terra.
Furthermore, that he keeps calling Terra a "failure" does reflect is stance on how he sees him. In Vanitas' eyes, Terra wouldn't even be worth coming to an agreement with.

Thanks, next time we'll get to see a rather brutal fight I'd say, with more physical elements than Aqua vs. Sephiroth had. ;)

Hmm, that is true, I've played that fight at the end of Ven's story. It was just that I still didn't understand the nature of such confrontation and the meaning of being a Ventus-Vanitas (as I said, Ventus-Vanitas is a thing that is only shown at the end of Aqua's story).

So, Vanitas is for now just doing a "mic check" before the show, huh? Also, I feel that Vanitas is going to be a problem of his own, something aside Master Xehanort. Specially judging the way he speaks of Xehanort, I would say that Vanitas loathes the geezer.

Well, in some time we will know if Vanitas still has what it takes to be a dangerous match like he was on BbS.

Lol, well, Vanitas is an awesome villain.. maybe even better than Xehanort right now so far. :3

@Zero: Oh, you know when Vanitas is here, shit goes down quickly.. as for him being able to fight, heck, he'll fight stronger despite being in a weak state.. That's how he is.

Hey sephiroth, loving the story so far. I like how sora, riku, and kairi had a sleepover after the ending of kh2 to discuss thier plans. The stuff was roxas was really fascinating as well, can wait to find out were that goes. Anyway, just finished chapter 6 and cant wait for the trio to leave on their next journey. Looking forward to seeing what disney worlds and characters you put into your fanfic

Ventus-Vanitas is practically just Vanitas possessing Ventus' body like Terra-Xehanort is Xehanort possessing Terra, as Vanitas tried to fuse their hearts together in order to finish the forging of the X-blade that was started due to their clash. The fusion was incomplete and unfinished though through Ven' subconsious resistance, so he wasn't completely subdued by Vanitas.
Yet, the body in the physical world was still under Vanitas' control for a short while.

He's rather doing a "mic check" to test if he's already strong enough to prepare for the show. Vanitas is in no way already capable of making a try at taking control of Riku or try a move on Ven or Sora. His heart is in the same pitiful state as Ven's and only feeding on Riku's darkness helps him recuperate and gather energy to fight Terra in his heart.
That feeling is correct, Vanitas does not work for Xehanort in this instance, he works solely for himself and his own existence. Master Xehanort however knows what is going on and chooses to do nothing. Why? That's something you all have to speculate about *laughs*.
Xehanort is in general lying in a low profile right now, and it won't be long anymore before we finally see him for the first time, as Rudol isn't travelling those ice fields forever of course. ;)

This fight will be easily the most brutal so far, probably even topping Aqua vs. Sephiroth.

Regardless if he's better or not, at the present time Vanitas is certainly the biggest threat for the heroes due to Xehanort choosing to stay in the shadows.

That Vanitas can fight at all is due to him having absorbed and stored energy from the darkness of Riku's heart for a while, but of course his enourmous willpower also plays a role. ;)

Yep, I made the start of the story go right after the "See you soon"-bit Kairi says in the last part of Blank Points in BBS. The continuity diverges from there on so that everything from BBS to the end of Coded/Blank Points happened as in the series.

Since the first major story arc revolves mostly around Sora's problems with the torment (and some preparations regarding the other main characters since I don't want to have them saved "just for the sake of it"), there won't be that many Disney worlds yet, but characters there are already a ton, also more Final Fantasy ones. ^__^

I'm looking forward to the fight of Terra vs Vanitas, that's for sure. I have an feeling that it's going to really top Aqua vs Sephiroth.. just a feeling, is all. :3

From that get-go, I can fathom why the old geezer decided to stay put for a while: he actually WANTS Vanitas to wreak necessary havoc for his plans to go on unchecked.

Also, I thought on something: would Sora be able to forge an X-Blade, using him and Roxas as the formula?

Next weekend, here we come!!

Chapter 35, the same chapter we also get another peek at Roxas with Ven's Keyblade.
The first appearance of Xehanort will actually set in motion quite some developments that may explain some mysteries from earlier chapters as well as another interesting fight.

Chapter 34 is dedicated completely to the first part of that battle, and while initially shorter than Aqua vs. Sephiroth, it's certainly more intense right off the bat.

Maybe Saturday, but more likely is Sunday. ;)

Not bad that idea, and it certainly goes in the correct direction. Right now, it actually benefits Xehanort if the other parties are occupied with each other.

How would that work? Sora hasn't a heart of pure light or darkness, and Roxas is his Nobody. Even if Roxas has grown a heart, it won't be pure in one element.

I actually looked less at movies in particular but rather on which characters and settings could serve good for the storyline I'm going to tell.
The primary focus is the storyline, so I didn't choose many worlds just for the sake of it and there won't be any retelling of movie plots.
Disney worlds included will have their own place in the plot just like Enchanted Dominion already has with Maleficent and Hades (but I think you haven't read that far yet, *ggg*).

Not that hard. Sora represents the light on the hearts of people, and Roxas reflects the darkness on their hearts. The trick would be getting Roxas out of Sora.

Also, while Sora is a more amicable person that makes friendship with everyone, Roxas is a more aggressive person. So, it's not hard to fathom which side of the balance each one pends to.

Not to mention that Roxas is a reflection of Sora in terms of heart. That means that Roxas could have the same distribution of light/darkness in his heart as Sora, but pending better for darkness. This means that a fusion between the two could form a 50/50 distribution with little trouble.

You don't need two hearts 100% at opposite sides. You just need the formula resulting in a 50/50 mixture.
