Questions about BBS? *spoilers*

I have a question about something regarding BBS. Be advised it's pretty much a major spoiler if you haven't either gotten to this point or haven't speculated it yourself

"Why does Vanitas look like Sora? Ven didn't connect with Sora's heart till after Venitas was created. I mean I understand like the plot almost fully now, but why that similarity? The only thing I can think of is that Vanitas had no face until after his connection and thus made a dark looking sora......either that or Ventus and Sora are related someway.....Xehanorts Report states he lived on Destiny Islands as a youngster...though I doubt that has anything to do with this"

Might be better to put this in the spoilers section. xD

I think, perhaps, that, since Vanitas and his appearance came from Ven, after Ven's and Sora's hearts merged, that in turn affected how Sora would look. So it's not that Vanitas looks like Sora, but rather that it's Sora who looks like Vanitas.
I could be way off, though.

Vanitas is connected to Ven, who is connected to Sora, so he was affected through him. The Xehanort reports state that Master Xehanort originated from Destiny Islands, not Ven. Well, actually he might've. It's not like we know for sure, since his origins were never established.

Also Reika, you say that Sora's appearance changed because of Ven and Van's connection? ...I dont...think that's highly plausible....though...perhaps."

--How did you decide on the design for their faces?

Nomura: Well Terra’s look was already a decided thing, we just had to make him look a bit younger. I knew that Ventus should look either like Sora or Roxas, and I wasn’t sure which one to go with, but I thought Vanitas looking like Sora would have a bigger impact so I had Ventus look like Roxas instead. And there is a reason that Vanitas looks like Sora. As Sora filled in Ventus’ fractured heart, the fractured part (Vanitas) was effected by Sora and ended up with Sora’s face. So if it had been Riku who had filled in Ventus’ heart, Vanitas would have looked like Riku.
