Does anyone know of a good free security program? I'm tired of Norton announcing its presence every time I get on my computer, and I don't think it even works that well anyway.

I already had Spybot too, but thanks for the Windows one. I just had a run in with what I thought would be a very bad virus that Spybot wasn't finding, so thats why this is coming up
Fuck Norton. Stay away from it like you would from AIDS. Damn program wound up giving my computer a virus instead of protecting it from them.
Security Essentials from microsoft is pretty solid, I'd recommend it.

i used to have norton way back when and it just seemed to make
false alerts all the time and slow down my computer. Avg did the same thing
plus it it felt like i had adware attacking my computer because all the pop ups to
upgrade to newer version for a price ect.

Yeah Spybot is a very good program. Nice to hear that you have it. Microsoft Security is pretty good too.
