They are. Mostly because most cosplayers do it for the fanservice, and guys, unless they're gay, aren't quite down with that.

I've seen how the other people react towards the cosplayers. Even if the guys are in it for the fun, they're bound to get catcalls and demand for fanservice :c unless you're a male Riku and your Sora's your girlfriend... >_>;;;

Well, some people don't mind. I personally know a gay couple who cosplayed as AkuRoku in part because they knew they'd be expected to fanservice.
