What character did you enjoy playing as the most?

Altho ventus is my Favorite Kh character (with Sora coming next) sadly he wasn’t playable in this game otherwise I would have picked him anyhow there’s no need for a list but if I had to make one then from most enjoyed to least

I love aqua but I’m not into magic that much ofc I like magic but I always loved being balanced, that’s why I like ventus cause his the balanced one in birth by sleep while terra focused on strength and Aqua on magic.

Each character had their strengths but honestly it feels like most of the focus went into Roxas and Kairi and I'm... kind of happy about that tbh. I mean I love Riku and Aqua but this was the first time Roxas has been playable since 2008 and the first time Kairi has ever been playable.

My only issue is with Kairi being so delicate in Critical Mode lol. I would at least get decently into fights/finish a phase with Riku, Roxas and Aqua before I started to panic about dying or running out of items but with Kairi I kept dying at the beginning. I never finished the fight with her in Critical but I did in Proud.

Honestly, with some tweaking, I think Kairi's playstyle would be my favorite. Between her guard, warp strike, shotlock and Limits, she felt a lot more powerful/useful than... everyone else who wasn't Sora. She was however the best experience for me. I liked experimenting with her and seeing what she could do and learning how to avoid shit with her.

Honestly, I feel like Aqua is probably the character who got the worst end of gameplay tho. She plays very much like her BbS self but without a Command Deck to save her from how her combos are and her lack of speed and... well, I guess from a gameplay perspective it makes sense since she's starting over mostly but still. Everyone else felt more powerful than her except maybe the playable characters in the giant group fight.

Kairi.

Been waiting to play her...basically ever since I knew she could use a Keyblade and was thus an option. Also, there was one point during her fight when Sora clutch healed me (god dang those stupid fire columns) and I was so giddy about that I had to pause for a bit to jump around my kitchen. I think I'd be perfectly content playing an entire game as Kairi with Sora as my backup. Or vice-versa. Either of those two are gonna be my top tier, I'd pick them over anyone else, every time.

After that I enjoyed Roxas because of the callback to the reaction command system and his link with Axel and Xion was pretty sweet.

Aqua was fine, nothing particularly special. Love her spellbinder transformation but I feel like her issue is as a magic-heavy user I found it frustrating having to constantly dodge away from opponents who were both fast and magic-heavy (Vanitas) and big and tanky (Terranort). So it wasn't so much as Aqua being inferior, but her opponents were just a very deadly combo that forced me to spam dodge a lot which just felt like massive flashbacks to playing BBS (in not a good way) and my thuuuumbs.

Playing as Riku has always been meh to me. At least when I controlled him in the fight he wasn't dying on me every three seconds. Thanks for the support, buddy.

But in general my biggest gripe about any of the playable characters was that we couldn't at least have a menu for two seconds to just customize their shortcuts god dang it. I usually put my main distance magic spell on triangle and the number of times I accidentally cured myself and wasted all my mp was too dang high.
Like, would it have been that hard to just...map it to Sora's buttons? Ah well.

Also! I wish if you had the DLC clear for post secret episode that it unlocked some sort of new game + mode where you could play as any of the playable characters through the whole game.....but maybe that would break the lore of the game too much haha. Maybe even if it was just being able to post-game with the new characters though...

I have to say I enjoyed playing as Kairi the most. At first her battle style felt a bit clunky and uncoordinated, but the further I progressed the better feel for it I got and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. I think I got that impression because of her moving do differently from how I was expecting. Her dodge just seemed odd until I noticed her side sliding to evade.
Her Raid Strike teleportation just feels nice as does her Seven Wish attack. She also had a larger range of spells than Riku or Roxas which came in handy though I mainly used Firaga and Curaga.

That said I feel like playing as Mickey was almost just as delightful or maybe even more so seeing I never saw it coming. Even though it was really limited the way it unfolded felt just so rewarding and impactful.

Roxas felt nice to control. Less powerful than I was expecting giving his Party member damage originally. Still when he was fighting along side Axel and Xion they had probably one of the best team attacks. I'd have liked it if he, Sora and Xion had also shared one, but oh well Sora and Riku didn't get one either.

Aqua felt a bit clunkier that I expected, but I still really enjoyed playing as her, her shotlock came in handy. Wish they had given her more MP or made Magic cost lest for her seeing that's her strength.

Riku was fun to but I fell more uncoordinated playing him than the others. His shotlock is nice and was a welcomed addition to his repertoire. I was a bit disappointed he and Sora don't seem to have a team attack.

Overall I do feel all would have benefited from being allowed to be customized with both magic and equipment. But in the end I liked playing as all of them and will probably replay Re:Mind instead of the final battles in the main game when possible.

Sora really doesn’t need an explanation lol. He’s always got tons of fun moves and spells.

Kairi was a blast to play as. Great starting point to build off from if she does become more playable in the future. I loved the throwbacks to her princesses of heart and her joint attack with Sora.

Roxas felt a bit underpowered but that just made it more challenging. He probably had the best team up move next to Sora/Kairi.

Aqua felt a bit more floaty than usual but that just might be me. She felt smoother in fragmentary passage and base KH3 but she was still fun. Loved her tag team move with Ven.

Riku felt like Riku lol. I don’t dislike him but we’ve played pretty many times so it didn’t really feel new. Should’ve given him balloonra as part of his magic preset as a throwback to DDD or just for fun lol

Aqua, probably. She definitely has the most refined gameplay next to Sora's, imo.

Also, am... I the only one who found Roxas' gameplay incredibly underwhelming? His combo's weren't anything special, and his mobility was less than stellar (I don't understand why they refused to give him glide despite cannonically having the ability). Oddly enough, most of his unique moves and abilities went into Sora's Double Form and Light Form, so it's odd they didn't give him more to work with. Speaking of which, his lack of a Shotlock meant he had less options overall, and it was harder to do more ranged attacks.

Roxas, hands down. Playing as him felt almost cinematic. I played Sora through most of the fights though, except Armored Xehanort, I used Kairi for that one.

Kairi was the most fun and controlled the best for me. Her combos and battle quotes are all amazing! Kairi was the GOAT as she beat up a goat! I personally found her opponent a glass cannon and other then his last phase he was easy and Kairi does big OP damage, so I never felt like I could actually lose. You can lose her fight but she was made for this one fight.

Roxas was great too, but because he's at a set level and cannot be customized and his opponents are Xemnas and Saix it can be a little hectic at first. Why can't Roxas glide? He could in Days. He's my boi and it will always be fun to play as him. I do wish he controlled a bit more like Sora's dual wielding. Still I love his combos with Axel and Xion. I got RAXed from their fight! So good.

Riku and Aqua are the same to me. I don't like controlling either. If I had to pick who I like playing more it would be Riku I guess. I suck at playing Aqua and her style never appealed to my style of gameplay dating as far back to BBS. So it's not so much her fault as it is mine lol. And Riku's decent, but Kairi and Roxas are better.
