May has just begun and Game Informer have revealed the cover art for the June issue of their magazine. The theme of the issue is the "Top 100 RPG's of All Time".

Kingdom Hearts is represented in the artwork, with Kingdom Hearts 3's Sora wedged between Horizon Zero Dawn's Aloy and Crono from Chrono Trigger. Game Informer released a short snippit about the content of the magazine:

Few genres can absorb players like role-playing games. Striking a balance between narrative, combat, exploration, and progression, RPGs are capable of immersing us in fantastic worlds. The latest issue of Game Informer is a celebration of that power, containing our ranked list of the top 100 RPGs of all time. In it you’ll find over 30 pages filled with fond memories, covering old-school masterpieces and modern twists on familiar formulas.

It's interesting to note that since the Sora they've chosen to represent is from Kingdom Hearts 3, could this be alluding to the games presence at E3?

I like how they have all the characters as tiny figures on little platforms, like amiibo or Smash Bros trophies.

This is great! I wonder where on the list Kingdom Hearts ended up? Either way, this is awesome.

I believe Kingdom Hearts 2 came in at number 25. Which makes me ask, why not draw Kingdom Hearts 2's Sora :p

Pretty cool that it beat 74 other games though!!

chaser you do have a point why not kh2 sora unless like you said kh3 might be at e3 since e3 is next month after all

i saw a "confirmed" e3 2017 list but it had kh3 and ff7r on it so i'm 90% sure its fake

it is fake we havent heard anything about games that going to be e3 yet but doesn't mean those game won't there they haven't been confirmed yet

thank you for basically reiterating my post. on subject, i'm really pleasantly surprised the series is on the list, as it tends to get overlooked.

If you two are wondering, that image was a fan-made prediction that started floating around as a "rumor."

I'm actually not surprised GI included KH in its list, as they've typically responded favorably to it in the past, and have put it in several of their lists in previous magazine issues. IGN also ranked KH2 at 86 in their top 100 RPGs of all time list earlier this week. The games normally get some form of recognition in big lists from most sites.

There's a bunch of click bait websites out there that all source each other as a circle jerk of information. In fact, one of our frequent forum users wrote for those websites and would source KHInsider despite us never saying that kind of thing. KH3 has not been confirmed for E3.

Mmm yes, but IGN have being really ignorant with Kingdom Hearts in the past before, even very recently with a video of theirs. I personally don't like to report using their news because of how they mistreat the series and the fandom.

Witcher 3 and Skyrim ranked WAYYYYYYY too high imo. KH2 ended up higher than I actually expected. FF6 should be 1 and Chrono Trigger at 2 in my opinion, so I'm glad they put them there. Pretty strange list overall I think. Horizon is also way too low and Destiny is not an RPG. The list is obviously just an opinion for fun, but there you have my rant.

I don't agree with the list at all tbh. TWEWY way, way too low and... no Ocarina of Time? Really? I'm also surprised KH2 is that high, though of course I personally would place it much higher. Also I have to say KH2FM is better than the original in every way so that would be my pick instead. A bit disappointed but not surprised KH1 didn't make it to the list.

Wow, that list is horrid. I was going to write it off as one of those meaningless lists of only hyped games, but it’s clearly not considering FFVI, IV, and Tactics were recognized, for example. How KH2 got that high, much less being the only one from the series on the list at all—and higher than FFX for godssake!—is a joke.

They also misspelled Dragon Quest VIII as Dragon Quest VII. (it's not a sarcastic remark, they actually did)

Every list that talks about good videogames and features KH II but not KH is a joke imo.

GameInformer didn't spell it wrong, it was where I copied the list from.

Much of the fanbase and critics widely consider KHII to be significantly better than KH1, so most of these lists feature 2 and not 1. I don't agree with most of the list, but that makes sense to me.

Yeah, whoever it was.

I know why it happens, is still a joke.
I understand appealing to the main audience (and hey, KH II IS a really solid game), but putting one and not the other means you either didn't understand much of it or you simply don't care.
