Did you play the Secret Episode and fight Yozora? If you couldn't manage to get through the data battles in Limit Cut, then you might not have gotten that far. There's two different endings to the Secret Episode depending on whether you win or lose against Yozora. The endings aren't that different, but if you manage to beat him, there's a very brief add-on to the cutscene where it cuts back to showing Yozora in the backseat of his car, and the camera switches over to his driver who looks and sounds almost exactly like Luxord, asking him, "Impressive, is it not?" Luxord's voice actor basically confirmed he is the voice of the character, so it's all but outright confirmed that Yozora's driver is Luxord's Somebody.Yeh, I beat REMind, I just missed the part where THAT was implied. I'm replaying the whole game again now so I can bring oblivion to the data fights on proud mode, so ima have to pay closer attention to that part when I get there.
And, unless theres some plot relevance to that one weird cell phone game that came out back in 2003, the only one I haven't played was X.
So you're saying since Sora and his heart still existed at the same time Roxas was around, Roxas's ability to wield a keyblade was powered by that external heart? And based on what I picked up, and correct me if I'm wrong, but the implication of the original organization members not having hearts was a lie. But, lie or no, Xemnas just straight didnt have one?
I'm not sure where that person is getting that information. It sounds like it comes from an earlier ultimania, because I'm pretty sure Nomura confirmed that the second Keyblade came from Xion in addition to the one Roxas had on his own.
I don't like the answer they came up with for this. If Terra's heart was inside the Guardian or something, shouldn't that thing be able to wield a Keyblade if Ansem SOD can't? Likewise what about characters born from darkness like Vanitas? Not only can he use a Keyblade, but he has his own independent of Ventus. I know he's not a Heartless but he's just as pure dark as one. The whole consumed by shadows thing is vague. One could argue Master Xehanort fits that bill, but he's still a Keyblade Master.
So, with regard to Terra, there is an answer to this. Basically, the reason Terra couldn't summon a Keyblade in his Guardian form is A) because his heart was being held captive in that thing, he didn't have free will over it, and B) Terra's heart was in there, but his mind was in the Lingering Will, which is why LW could use Terra's Keyblade. I think because LW is Terra's Keyblade Armor, that allows it to circumvent actually needing Terra's heart physically present inside of it in order to summon the Keyblade (after all, the Keyblade armor I think is supposed to be of the same kind of magic as the Keyblades themselves).
Also, fun bit of trivia: Have you ever noticed how sometimes, when Terra-Xehanort or Ansem send their Guardian out to attack for them, their arms are always crossed? You never see TX, for instance, with the No Name Keyblade out and his Guardian attacking at the same time, and there's a reason for that, too: Apparently, Xehanort uses the Guardian as a container for Terra's heart, but controls it with his own mind and will, so when he/Ansem cross their arms and the Guardian starts doing attacks and other stuff, it's because Xehanort's mind is switching control of his arms with the Guardian's. Basically, he exchanges control over his own arms with control over the Guardian's, but since Terra's heart is without its own mind, he can't really do anything with the main body's arms once the switch occurs, which is why Terra-Xehanort/Ansem always just kind of stand there with their arms locked while the Guardian does all the fancy tricks for him.
But yeah, no, Heartless definitely cannot wield Keyblades. Vanitas can, but he's different from a Heartless. In fact, recent Union X and Dark Road story developments suggest that he's of a special ancient breed of sentient dark beings who would have access to weapons like the Keyblade) Also, I think there's a difference between losing your heart to darkness out of weakness (like what happened with Riku in KH1) versus willingly allowing your heart to be tainted by it, which is why Xehanort managed to wield a Keyblade for so many years even after becoming corrupted. He'd allowed the darkness into his heart, but he still retained control over it, and he never allowed the darkness to completely swallow him up. Apprentice Xehanort willingly submitted himself to darkness without even pretending to try and keep it under wraps, which is why he lost the ability to wield the Keyblade but was allowed to retain his mind and his sentience even in the form of a Heartless. He was a very unique case in that regard.
