:D yeah I went to a manga shop yesterday and I was looking around absolutely clueless, just in the hope that I'd maybe find some Kingdom Hearts manga. I didn't, of course, and instead I bought a legend of zelda one.

Apart from Kingdom Hearts volume 1, and a couple of ones I've borrowed from the library which I can't for the life of me remember, I've never read a proper manga before, although I would maybe like to begin, and was wondering where to start?

I hear people talking about a lot of different mangas such as Bleach, Death Note, Naruto etc. but which one's the best to start with??

I generally enjoy more comedy/girly books and films and stuff, and was wondering where to begin my manga saga?

:) :) :)

I don't have a store specifically for manga near me, so my suggestions will come from what I've seen at B&N, BAM, and Borders:

Vampire Knight (yeah, I know, Japanese version of Twilight, but it's better than Twilight, so whatever)
Kimi ni Todoke
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Eh, I guess I'll just stick with that. I don't usually look for things in the "comedy/girly" genre, so I don't remember as much off the top of my head.

Tsubasa Reservior Chronicles :D

D.Gray-Man is good but not girly at all...

A really girly manga would be Absolute Boyfriend, you'll like it. :)

Sweet, I'll try those. Maybe not the vampire one, I'm sick of hearing about vampires haha, unless it's Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee, they're the 'core vamps. But I'll especially try absolute boyfriend :D

Are Death Note/Bleach any good? Like the popular stuff like that? :)

Also what about Love Hina? Or is that just some massive porn fest, which is what I envision it to be (in which case I don't want it hahaha)

Dragon Ball (Not Z or GT). I found it so much better than Z or GT and it's in my top's.

Also, I would recommend Fairy Tail just because I've read some of it so far and am quite fond of it.

Oh, and Fruits Basket if you like the girly ones.

Bleach, naruto and one piece will cost you a fortune to keep that up. I would go for full metal alchemist.

Only in the order I can think of. No order of preference or quality.
Hana-Kimi
Nana
Chobits (and anything else by CLAMP. (Tsubasa, Cardcaptor, etc.)
Uzumaki
Fullmetal Alchemist
Hellsing
Absolute Boyfriend
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (but it has a shitload of Japanese references. not sure if you'd enjoy it as much at this point in your adventure.)

Death Note is the best out of the ones you mentioned but isn't an easy read like shoujo is. It's also the shortest out of them.

Also, what book store were you at? Borders is VERY nice with manga. VIZ (naruto, fma, a bunch of big titles) usually has deals and sales with Borders so it's really useful.
