Now that the game is out in Japan, I know y'all have them. I'm making a space for you guys to discuss your theories until the western launch. After that, you can make them using the Spoiler prefix in the Future of Kingdom Hearts section.

Spoiler ShowSince Riku went to Quadratum solo I think he and Yozora will be the two playable leads for the next game. Mickey as well if his search in Scala leads him to Quadratum. What I think could happen is that Riku goes through whatever Disney worlds are planned for the game while Yozora himself deals with things in the actual city. Focus will be split between them like DDD.
Also despite this Shibuya clearly not being the same one as TWEWY i still think they are still somewhat connected.
Spoiler ShowJust sorting through the spoilers thread now: So, so happy it looks like Kairi will -not- be a main character in the next KH game (SNS, I hate her), and that Riku and Mickey will get more focus. I like the idea of her training under Aqua, I guess.
And I love how the Fairy Godmother is getting used similarly to Merlin and Yensid.

- The Master is NOT Yozora nor Sora, however, he might carry a similar name, such as Aozora, Fuyuzora, Hoshizora, etc. and has a relation to the two.
- If that were the case, the reason he's insane is probably because he witnessed his own "sea" perish at the hands of Darkness.
- The world Quadratum is in isn't a fictional world in the sense as we understand it (if that were the case, 100 acre wood would be the same thing). Rather, it might be an alternate worldline in which the War didn't happen. It might also be the world that developed from when the trapped dandelions who couldn't return built up new lives, but might not be. Either way, such a place developed in huge strides in terms of scientific achievements including military prowess, whereas the main worldline developed in terms of magic.
- If it really was an alternate worldline, we're most likely looking at a unified World that did not fracture like the one the main cast lives in. It could also be the "World the could've been" if the War didn't happen then.
- Yozora might be an alternate Sora had the World not fallen apart during the war. Essentially a parallel existence, same heart, two bodies, sort of like a foil to a human/nobody relationship, but something else. A more analogous idea would be the relationship between Alice and Mary-Ann, or in weeb speak, something like the connection between Tsubasa Li and Kimihiro Watanuki.
- Nameless Star might have a name that has "star" in it because Nomura is bitter, like Hoshi, Sekai, or Seiya, or as a parallel to Kairi, might have a name related to the sea, such as Umi or Machi.
- Kairi probably already passed on the light to another princess. This is my most unlikely of theories.

I am also glad Kairi will be thrown to the side and be off-screen training with Aqua even though it's just a way to get both of them along with the others off the screen so we could focus on characters that matter more like Sora, Riku and now Yozora. Kairi would just get in the way and her rabid fans are grating. That said, dunno if I'd tune in for the next big game if it comes out in 2022 but I'm sure it's gonna focus on Sora, Riku and Yozora's adventures on the other side which sounds infinitely more interesting than what the other guardians would be doing anyways.

If it's any consolation, the Verum Rex ad has a street sign that explicitly says "Shibuya".
Spoiler Showthe Fairy Godmother suddenly knew everything? After an entire year had gone by?
And one moment she's like "oOoOh WhAt DrEaMs ArE yOu HavIng" and the next she's like "okokoksoactuallythereisanotherworldthatyoudon'tknowofit'slikethisworldbutnotactuallyit'snotlikethisworldatallit'sacompletelydifferentrealitythatnobodyknowsaboutexceptmeforsomereasonalsoyou'reakeyandyou'reakeyandlet'sgotothefinalworldandthere'stheotherkeyhahaalsoineversayhernameandsheapparentlydoesn'tknowmebutshe'swillingtohelpussothat'sgoodhahai'msuddenlyomniscientiknoweverythingiamsosmartiamsmarterthanfrickingansemthewise"
Like, I keep getting this feeling that something's really wrong with her.
Maybe... It's not her?

Also, Riku said that he'd been having that same dream on repeat since Sora went missing. For. An. Entire. Year. And he didn't think anything of it?! Are Kingdom Hearts characters just that dense?

It’s off topic from theories but I’m gonna be honest, when III finally resolved their endings I felt that they should stay resolved and left behind in the Dark Seeker Saga. Xion’s reunited with her friends, Roxas has independent agency from Sora, the Wayfinder Trio are together again. It’s done and should stay done. So, question for my fellow KHI users.
How do you feel about potentially abandoning the twilight gang and the wayfinder trio? Letting them have their happy endings and live happily ever after or whatever.
I don't know, I feel the cast is way to big for its own good, I think it's best to just leave them be and call upon them if necessary, but going out of their way to make new games for them feels a bit overkill.

It would be nice but that sadly won’t happen.
Ven’s deeply entrenched in the future of this story thanks to Darkness, so no way will Terra or Aqua sit back. Kairi will get pulled along with them. Worsens and Lauriam will come into play there considering Strelitzia.
Isa and Lea are looking for Subject X, so no way would Roxas and Xion stay behind. I’m sure my UX characters will pop up here too.
The thing is we don’t know how or when they plan to resolve these storylines. Beyond Mickey going on his quest and Riku going solo to find his boyfriend, these threads are sort of left dangling. I’m going to assume that the search for Subject X and Ven’s ties to Darkness will be all in one game since there is considerable amount of overlap.
Essentially Nomura has written himself into a very crowded corner.
I hope not. Disney worlds are the main appeal of any KH game for mr. Quadratum could work as the hub world with Disney worlds being a part of Riku's trialsWaaaaaaait a minute
If Riku goes to Quadratum/Shibuya... could this mean the Riku centered game won’t include any Disney worlds? Imagine this scenario. A KH game which only focuses on the main story.
A big open world like Game in this world...
